When I bought my D28 it took quite awhile to get it. The HD28 was in high demand so it took a long time to get mine on the line. It was well worth the wait! It's awesome and with my soap bar pickup, it sings!! The D28 is the best buy for your buck!!!
absolutely!!! 😎 i bought my 2019 d28 in 2020, right before the huge increase of price here in europe, and it is a fantastic guitar, sounding and looking and feeling great to unbelievable... it really makes me happy everyday...
Great video. I live in Arizona, with its extreme climate. Even with a dedicated room for my instruments, with a full time humidifier and AC running 24/7, my collection of guitars all react and necks bow or back bow to a degree you get high action or buzz. I have to adjust the truss rods. In November the room has perfect conditions but not in July. So… With that said, I couldn’t buy this guitar, even as wonderful as it sounds. But- great video!
When I was in 3rd grade I wore pants with holes and patches about the knees handed down from my older brother. They were distressed honestly by playing marbles, running through the bramble and scooting under barbed wire fences. Then the fashion world adopted a distressed style to give it a casual and loved look. But they put the holes above and below the knee and those of us that wore real authentic knew the difference. Now Martin is doing the same thing for guitars and trying to make the guitar looks loved. It would be easy to look down on this guitar except it sounds so good.
I just got mine for stupid cheap at a close out sale at a music shop. Deal of a lifetime. I can’t wait to get it, take it out and strum a G chord on it.
If it's to good to be true...then it probably is. I hope they didn't get you for much. And if you paid from one of those 59 bucks for a 8,000 dollar then shame on Facebook for letting thise ads exist. @travisowens8602
I have that exact model guitar. I've owned it 2-3 years. This summer I fell in love with a 1999 Taylor 814bce that sounded fantastic. I played it exclusively for a few old time jams. Everyone loved it until I brought out that D28. There was no comparison. The D28 has a huge sound that can easily carry a 12-person Old Time jam. The energy level went through the roof. I returned that Taylor and will miss it forever. It was a lot easier to play than the Martin.
I happened to be in Gruhn's 14 years ago and saw a D-28 hanging there that was marked 'Custom.' The sales rep said George Gruhn liked the specs of the 1937 Martin D-28 and asked Martin to make guitars to that spec, which he would sell at his store. This was one of those, and for the low price of $3,200, which is about what a current HD-28 goes for. A great deal. Whether Martin liked the idea so much that they began producing 28V and other torrified models, or George's request was part of a trend they were seeing, who knows. But my Adirondack top custom D-28 is a keeper no doubt. The tone is simply stunning.
Thanks for sharing that with us, gentlemen. It’s a guitar I wouldn’t pick up because I couldn’t afford it, but got to listen to it here on your Channel. No “trust” rod means you’d want to know a good luthier and I’m sure there were more around in 1937. Thanjj k s again for presenting it to us.
Is there any other difference between aged and non aged since both are VTS? There is a 1,000 dollar difference in price and makes me wonder if the aged model comes with more than just an aged appearance to justify the extra 1k? Don’t want to miss out in case there is more - thanks!
How is the feel comparison? Does this one feel a little better to play? Sound is hard to differentiate but I know also the feel while playing may be a little better? Otherwise if not feel or sound diff I like my new guitars new. Thanks for any info you can share….
I own both. There’s no comparison. The Red Label FG5 is a fine guitar but it’s not in the same league. Materials, finish, fretwork, etc. are all inferior. When you get up the Yamaha LL series, you’re getting much closer to the D28 Authentic.
I have the non aged version it's the best guitar I've ever owned. I briefly owned a used version of the aged version it's well made but the aging looks fake. I own a real 1950's martin and there is no mistaking what is real and what is a guitar wearing a costume. Get the non aged.
Everything you said about the guitar made me think that was completely stupid.. right up until I heard the guy play it. I have an HD 28 that sounds amazing but that guitar.. I don't know if they're all like that but that guitar sounds like wooden heaven
I own Ten acoustic guitars and i love them all,But Taylor and Martin guitars are way overpriced i will not be buying anymore,There charging more for extremely cheaper materials its a huge rip off in my opinion, Taylor made the 816ce cheaper made than my 2015 and don't sound near as good,The same with my 2018 814ce DLX the new ones are no way built as good now.Martin you can have all of them i have a good Martin guitar but the new ones are a big disappointment at least all the new ones I've played.Martin has be overrated for years and ive owned twelve Martin guitars.
Certain guitar manufacturers are very tuned in now to customer segmentation, realising there is a certain segment willing to hand over a large chunk of change for relatively superficial things, like aging. This is an "authentic" 1937 model in a sense of "well, not _really_ authentically from 1937, which seems at least a little disingenuous. This guitar actually sounded a bit funky to me, like it wasn't well tuned. Not for me. If I had thousands burning a hole in my pocket, I'd get a Yamaha FG9 and save myself 5 grand.
JP Cormier for the win. He is so right. Martin have really lost it. Let's make a worn guitar, leave out the arguably best modern guitar upgrade of a rod,and let's charge a shithouse full of money for it. A Boucher with even BETTER woods for half the price will destroy this instrument. Sorry just my South African 2cents....! Great work though on the demo gents.
if you live in a perfect climate, or have guitar humidor for most of the time, you won't miss a trussrod... if not, you'll find out pretty sure why it became a standard...🥸
These are the two best guitar reviewers on the planet!
No way I will ever buy this guitar but I love watching them review it……
Thank You gentlemen!
what dont u like about this guitar????
@@soofitnsexy price of course lol
Cooper can play guitar! 🫵🎸👏👏👏

Turns out it was a scam, can’t believe I fell for it

That's my favorite chord, especially on a Martin Drednaught 😊
@@travisowens8602 Damn a scam? Like they stole your money or they gave you a knock off guitar?
@ Stope my money, I can’t believe I was dumb enough to believe it lol.

Ive had one since 2019 Martin Authentic Aged 1937. I gig with it and its a hoss!
You guys are awsome, the super info, the super demo and the products, Thank You!
I have a 2018 and also have a video playing it with a real deal ‘37. I have had several authentics and mine from 2018 is a superb guitar.

I love the Martin Dreds. Would have one if they were not so big for me. A D-28 for sure. 🎸🎸🎸
I think that guitar sounds perfect, wouldn't change a thing, except the price 🤣

At 80 yrs old I might need a neck reset too ! ! 🤣😆🤣🎸🎸🎸🎸
It sounds like a full band. Jeeeezz.
I own an authentic 1941 from 2013 non VTS beautiful guitar!!!!
Exquisite…………Dear Santa……………
Hot damn coop! That’s some get down pickin right there!

As always, top content. You may want to get a gold or silver reflector to lighten-up some of those shadows. :=)
Would like to see comparison between this and the red label Yamaha
lmaooooo

Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged One available £6,499.00. Almo sold out $8,999.00
It must be getting cold down there judging by your clothes'. Keep on doing your reviews. I think they are the best in the USA!
These have a T bar neck reinforcement to maintain neck relief very similar to the real 37' Martin's.
It sounded just slightly out of tune to my ears, but I probably don't hear as good as I once did..
I bought mine directly from George @ Gruhn’s. George even put a picture in it for me. It’s the best I’ve ever had.
What strings are on it in the review?
There is a sound out of that is different than the Modern Deluxe. Thanks, Chris and Cooper. Ww can get you 60 miniature geriatric goats.
You would hope so. It's twice the price.
I'd put my D-18 with sinker mahogany up against it ;-) Now the next one to buy for me is an om-28 authentic 🙂
I'd put my Takamine ean-10c' rosewood back and sides with spruce top, Aluminum bronze strings up against any martin.
Nah. I've owned sinker. Almost the same as regular mahogany man. Just a little bit denser
Could you do an OME Cherry wood?
It does have a truss rod. It’s just not an adjustable one.
Other than being out of tune, it sounds good
Sounds a good deal… searching for the Buy Now Goat Later button.
Great guitar but I think the D35 is a slightly better choice.
not even close
Nice, but no thanks. I'll stick to my D41 Amber. 🙂Most beautiful instrument I've ever played.
Thank God those Germans immigrated to Nazerath and started making acoustic guitars

that guitar looks feather light, don't ask me how I can tell.
The sound
Lol the haters in the comments because they can't afford it. I'm sorry but a regular d18 isn't touching this guitar.
When you said trade sheep I looked at my wife she said No lol
🧢 ?
🤠
$10k after tax. Ouch….. still great sounding tho!
I thought the guy on the right was Luke Combs
$9,000.00?
CF Martin guitars are the biggest case of the emperor's new clothes I ever saw.
Nonsense
All that yapping yup yup yup and you got this amazing guitar and you don’t tune it
It’s out of tune

I don't know... my D18 is much better... it is the perfect acoustic gitbox for certain.
I dont' know, it sounds pretty modern, like it's missing the midrange.
