      More likely just one. Most district events only have one role play for competitors.

  • @dhivyaram
    @dhivyaram ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Have you been a DECA judge before? If so, what would you think a full score roleplay would look like? This is my second year competing, and I didn't place before so I would appreciate it!

    • @BowtieGOAT
      @BowtieGOAT  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I have not formally judged before, but I have informally judged by own students (hundreds of times) and I have reviewed more than a thousand role play sheets from judges. It's hard to say what a full role play score would look like. A "hard" judge might not give scores above a 85%, but an easier judge might not give scores below a 90%. Judging is subjective; it is not possible to compare scores BETWEEN judges.
      Focus on strong role play skills, practice the content knowledge as best you can. With some specific practice, you will do great!

    • @dhivyaram
      @dhivyaram ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I do have two additional questions. First, what would be the best way to usefully use your given paper? Next, is the whole unbutton-your-blazer-before-you-sit-down something I should consider doing at my roleplay? As well as some other formal gestures?

    • @BowtieGOAT
      @BowtieGOAT  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what you mean by your given paper... the blank paper for your role play prep? I recommend everyone follow a consistent setup of their notes, and I drafted this document to outline how I would do it: docs.google.com/document/d/1JaDpPFZGWbCrbFQTu57Ti3_d2yKv4C3GXZEze9eFlyg/edit?usp=sharing
      For the blazer, it will always fit better buttoned. If you can do it smoothly, keep it buttoned until you shake your judge's hand, then deftly unbutton it when you sit down. It's a small thing, but it's the most formal way to wear a blazer (buttoned while standing, unbuttoned while sitting).
