How to Install Code Appropriate Dryer Ventilation

- Hazardous Dryer Vent Duct Work has been Installed In many homes. The most common thing we see is over 8 feet of flexible transition hosing used in the crawl space instead of standard UL listed galvanized steel piping. Huge fire hazard and should NEVER be used as dryer ventilation.
Solution- This process involves removing all hazardous duct work and correctly installing galvanized steel hard pipe to meet all code requirements and ensure SAFTY for the household. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
Very valuable and timely. My challenge is doing this between 1st and 2nd floor. I REALLY appreciate this video!
You’re the first video I’ve see that mentions taping the seam on the pipe. I would only tape seams on interior wall areas. Attic/crawl space piping don’t matter really unless it’s a conditioned space. I’m also impressed to see you seal around the penetration. I’d have used some spray foam myself but your method seems to work. Thanks for sharing.
you could probably use that as backer rod to hold the vent in place and then fill the void on the other side with spray foam, cut flush and spray foam to drywall that gap tight.
In Canada you have to insulate your pipe in the attic and minimum 4 feet on the warm side ( inside the house ) by code
You crimped end has to go towards the outside what you did is afire hasard. I’ve been in residential heating for over 40 years
You should look into long sweep 45 or 90s. More costly but better air flow (less flow loss).
Looks really good.. but I am thinking it would be best for all the 'crimped' ends of the duct go in the same direction of the air flow so that it won't catch lint ?
Great idea! will apply towards future projects.
What about the heat against the insulation? It’ll get hot after awhile
Backer rod at penetration may not meet code in many states.
I would use 3M red fire rated barrier caulking for pipe penetration between floors (besides other suggestion above but already too late unless you want to redo) otherwise VERY useful info
question for you... I live in a condo and have an upstairs neighbor. I can't change out the flexible one with ease. Can I cover it by using the steel hard pipe as a brace?? Im renovating my laundry closet but don't know the best way to handle that transition hosing.
Hello K.B! ADT is a DIY channel but ultimately seeks Professional opinion when possible. We appreciate the inquiry, to partly assist the hosing used should be one or the other. We recommend contacting the Landlord for safety and concern.
@@Self-taught_Therapy I own my unit. but I will most definitely seek a professional opinion
Hi, how can we contact you for business inquiry?
One big thing is wrap that vent hose in insulation to prevent condensation and mold in your attic ! Might be too late already, and that small foam does not seal near good enough like if you got silicon and sealed it after.
Hello thanks for the comment. Great idea and it make sense. Do you have a wrap brand you recommend?
I've never seen something hot create condensation.
I can't think of any examples where that happens.
I would use red fire foam.
your male female connections appear to be in the wrong direction
Hey Tim,
Thanks your 💯 correct the female connector is in the wrong direction it was so hot up in the attic lol. Easy fix.
How much u charge to do this!?
And would you charge more if you were wearing shoes with laces?
