Great idea to finish this piece. You are so right that this piece does not need to be framed.

A great invention for hanging art works. I love the light weight of the rod and the looks of the finished product without adding a seam binding which frames it and does allow for any imagination beyond the frame.

Garment sewers add a second line of sewing which makes it so much easier to fold over the fabric. It is called understitching. You run a line of stitching through your facing and the 1/4th seam allowance, close to the seam. It prevents your facing from ever peeking out. Really helps.

Thanks for this Jane. I am making a wall hanging and had been pondering how to mount it on the wall. Really helpful ❤💐

I have been curious about mounting my eco prints. This is a great option.

Hmmm. Not sure whether there actually was a Part 1! That might be a mistake...

Hi Jane, love your videos. Question about the felt you are using. Is it a real wool felt or synthetic? Thanks, Irma

Synthetic because it is cheaper and doesn't shrink.

I couldn't see very clearly in the video without closeup shots. The Velcro strip is placed just below the facing so that it sticks to the felt, right? I have used Velcro on my artwork as it's so lightweight but I used the two strips one sewn on to the top of the backing cloth which is cotton cloth anthe hook velcro strip I used the adhesive type (extra strong ) onto a strip of wood.

If you use felt you don't need two strips, which makes it hang flatter. The hook sticks to the felt without the loop. You can buy the hook separately, with adhesive, online.

So the quilting cotton strips are basically bias tape?

    • @JaneDunnewold

I don't use fabric on the bias because I don't want it to stretch.
