I saw a Netherlands VTuber (cute looking woman) do a gameplay. I liked it and said "yeah. There has to be a speedrun on this"
    And here I am.

This is so odd to see! This was my very first adventure game. Didn't know a lick of English, I was about 5 or 6 years old and I barely knew how to write down the spells. And I played the CD version as a child, so I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to the sound and voice acting. Seeing someone blaze through the game that took me hours if not days to finish is just rad.

Thanks! My first adventure games were a set of floppy disks with the LucasArts Classic Adventures on them. So this was among the first ones I played, though the first one I chose to play out of that collection of 5 was Secret of Monkey Island. This one would be the last one I would play, but it's one of my favorites! (And yeah, took me hours then, too!)
Speedrunning adventure games is quite niche, but for me it's added a lot of extra play time to games that I had otherwise beaten and gotten everything out of them I could years ago, and there's also a great community of folks out there that speedrun adventure games.

Same here, I used to "speedrun" this before speedrunning was a thing, I had the floppy version, I used to play this game 2-3x a day lol. I didn't time myself or anything, I just loved replaying it.

This could be my favorite game ever, great work! What is the RNG in this game, mostly?

I love this game, too, and thanks! The only RNG (that I know of) is the spell list. Each spell has 3 different variants, and it's random which one you get on each playthrough. This mostly doesn't matter, except at the end, where it's the main time save. It's quicker to skip the cutscenes at the end of the game where you would normally learn the spells. This means you have to guess on the last 3 spells before Transcendence (final spell), which is a 1 in 27 chance of getting all 3 on the first try, as in this run, assuming the probabilities of each variant is equal, which is not certain, but it makes sense that they would be.
