Just for clarification...this model is offered in 2 cabinet finishes. One is black, obviously...and the other is wood. The wood cabinet model is $5-$10 more expensive depending on where you buy it. Sangean only packages this radio using ONE box, which ONLY shows the wood cabinet version on the outside of the box. If you are ordering this online, you should not expect any problems...whichever one you order should be correctly shipped to you. However, if you buy this from an actual brick and mortar store, make sure you select the right one off the shelf because again...they package both versions of this radio in the same box. This is a great video! Thank you for sharing!
Mine just arrived today. I thought yours looked gorgeous (Love the piano black & blue display). My God, the sound of this thing blew me away! I've tried both bluetooth w/ my iPod, and classic rock on FM radio. Very impressed with this Sangean WR-22!
not sure if you guys cares but if you're bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my girlfriend for the last few months =)
latasha66 update. I picked up one of these radios from Walmart online shortly after I posted the above comment. Was about $135. It is awesome. The perfect bed side radio. The sound quality is far above and beyond what I needed or expected. My two favorite features is the auto time setting and the blue tooth. Another bonus was the ability to set the "sleep time" up to two hours. I like to listen to coast-to-coast am late at night, and I would set my old radio to auto turn off automatically but could only go up to 90 minutes which was some times not long enough. Being able to auto-turn off after 120 minutes ensures I am knocked out before shutting off the radio. Like my old radio, it has two alarms and you can set to wake to music. One of the little details that I appreciate in the morning is that when my alarm goes off, the volume slowly ramps up over a 5 - 10 second period as opposed to BAM! instant loud music. It softens the morning awakening. But the BIGGEST bonus, and used to drive me crazy with my OLD radio, I no longer have to deal with the stupid day-light savings auto-change. My old clock was programmed with the original day-light savings auto-set tied to the OLD spring forward/fall back rules. When they changed the date of the day-light savings switch times (which I still do not understand why to this day) , my clock would auto-set a month early and force me to manually adjust the time... a major nuisance that would happen twice a year. It also comes with a little IR remote if you prefer to have it across the room and you want to control it from far away. Another added bonus is that it has a USB port that can charge my android. The only minus for the USB port being used as a charger is that you have to have the radio in USB mode for it to be active, which means I can't listen to the Am or FM radio at the same time the phone is charging. I cannot think of another item I purchased that I was this satisfied with. Kudo's to the designers on this one.
I just ordered one of these for my office. Initially I wanted something Bluetooth enabled that I could just stream music. Due to wifi issues in my office I just finally decided that I was spending too much time trying to troubleshoot this just to have some background white noise in my office. I’m hoping the sound is decent and the signal is reasonably clear
In reference to your comment at 1:52 - I'm looking at it on Amazon right now and there is indeed a walnut grain looking finish version of this radio as well as the all-black version. I wouldn't care for it though since it costs about $8 more. I'm not that crazy about the walnut look.
An excellent review and thank you for sharing it. I think it is a fine looking radio. But I am not into all of this technology. I want an AM/FM radio to be quality and simple. I do not need memory, lights, and a clock. Sangean does make a WR 11 and the WR 12. I may purchase one of those. Thanks again for the review.
I have the non-bluetooth version that I used for years connected to my computer. It sounds fantastic with nice bass and treble...I might add a bluetooth adapter. I can't find a bluetooth speaker that can compete with it.
The audio is good quality. It is no Bose Wave Radio but a lot higher quality than you would get from just a regular radio and its less than half the cost of Bose. Sadly two issues I really do not own a good microphone for recording true audio. Second if I play music I will get flagged by TH-cam. I hope that helps.
Can you connect your iphone to it through bluetooth and hook headphones into it as well and have the music being played on your iphone be played to the attached headphones and not through the speaker?
Does it get very much louder on the volume? I figured you probably didn't turn it up all of the way because of where you were recording and didn't want it to go up to loud while recording. Is it loud enough to hear from room to room in a small house?
I have not tired the USB to charge. I would think it would since it runs unpowered USBs thumb drives. When I get home from visiting family I will test it out.
I tested charging my phone from the USB on the radio. (I used a Android phone.) It will charge the phone when in USB mode but did not read the music on my phone. Even when the phone was set as a media device. So yes it will charge but wont play anything at the same time.
I was using a S4 and was unable to get my music files to play. The Bluetooth works great with it. Could always plug it into the wall as you use bluetooth.
Gosh, I screwed up. I have one arriving on Thursday and I thought I was buying something that would play stuff off the Internet but now I learn it's just am and fm.:-(
Omar Crisante You can get more stations with shorter spacing. Didn't happen here because the NAB managed to nix it. It was one of the many elixirs that was going to save AM radio (along with the NRSC mask re-design, AM stereo, and now digital). But broadcasters wanted neither the frequency shake up nor the added competition, so the 9 KHz separation was scuttled.Sidebar: Broadcasters have never seemed interested in the one thing that would save AM radio.(Answer credit goes to John Higdon)
latasha66 But on that particular receiver you can change the bandwidth between 9 kHz and 10 kHz. I wish he did a demonstration on how the 9 kHz sounds on that radio.
Can you describe or demonstrate the HWS (Humane Wake System) ? My wife only needs a low level sound to awaken (hours before I do) and she tries to allow me to sleep through her alarm setting. Many product have a level that ramps up fast on it's own, and you cannot set it to a subtle level for a radio station to awaken you. She has to race to the clock (across the room) to kill the even increasing sound level. Thanks
Would like to use this in a vacation condo I own but would like to secure it. Can the bottom or case be taken off? I would like to put a bolt through the bottom of the case so I could affix and lock it to a cabinet
No, that's a different animal. Sangean does make one, but I have and love the C. Crane WiFi radio. I have the original model, because it uses Reciva to categorize the podcasts and streams. The newer one uses a service I don't like.
Why does the Sangean website NOT EVEN ALLOW A POWERCORD SEARCH? PR-D15 FM stereo RDS /AM digital tuning receiver. Have searched Google and NOTHING about the "great" Sangean includes the correct power cord. Mine was lightly used and then quit. I have 3 Sangeans..Now I feel like I chose the best hype for zero help..Yes, I can't even find one place to just ask a overly simplistic question. Since there is no HELP option on Sangean.com website USA

Thanks for the review. I have been looking for a good bedside "coast to coast am" spooky radio and I think this is it!

Crazy they don't make a stereo version of this

Excellent product review. You have a real talent for descriptive information. Based on your review I will be purchasing this model.
Thanks!

Thanks for the review, do you still have/use the radio. It’s still for sale on Amazon looking virtually unchanged.
I have the non-bluetooth version that I used for years connected to my computer. It sounds fantastic with nice bass and treble...I might add a bluetooth adapter. I can't find a bluetooth speaker that can compete with it.
How is your Sangean doing after six years?
Please test the sound before finishing the video. It satisfies so much people :3
I did cover the sound in the review. Thanks
Cord Cutters News wow 5 seconds of audio and you didnt even play anything on bluetooth

Cord Cutters News Why pay the Bose premium needlessly when there are better alternatives for a fraction of the price?
Hi. Can you stop the two dots (colon) in between the clock numbers from flashing all the time? Thanks
Love mine, Wish i had the blue tooth model. I love the looks of it. Mine is all black. There is a wood Model also.
why does the colon between hours/minutes keep blinking?
On scale of 1-10, how would you rate reception? Also, can you connect external speakers to it?
I noticed the display wasn't showing the RDS. Is there a way to turn that feature on and off?
How do you put the battery in remote?
The glossy finish clean up in the kitchen will be a challenge to keep clean.
Can you play music from an iPod ..on the radio?
I can’t get my time set through the info button. I press the info button and nothing happens.
I can't figure out how to install the battery on the remote. Help, please. thanks
I hope you eventually got the battery installed 5 years ago 😀
Will this radio charge your phone while playing in the bluetooth mode? Great review!

Thank you. I want to stream and charge at the same time. I use a Samsung GS 3
I was using a S4 and was unable to get my music files to play. The Bluetooth works great with it. Could always plug it into the wall as you use bluetooth.
Do you think this radio would get good AM reception in an office tower where other radios don't?
You’d want an external am antenna to go with it, something like a Terk AM advantage passive loop
Does the clock display when the unit is turned off?
+michael garrett Yes but you can control how bright it is.
@@CordCuttersNews is your Sangean still running? Any suggestions after six years of usage?
Gosh, I screwed up. I have one arriving on Thursday and I thought I was buying something that would play stuff off the Internet but now I learn it's just am and fm.:-(
When Bluetooth mode is on...how can I stop my name from moving like a banner?
I can't connect to the Bluetooth. Can you show me how? Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Thank you sir.
I wanted so much to listen how it works...

“It’s no Bose” yeah we got that the first time.

No, that's a different animal.
