Yeah. You can tell looking from the side they are not pack fresh cards. Somebody got a hold of a real box and slapped this deck together.

Insane 🤯 even the inner seal was there. This is my worst fear with sealed stuff... unlike this situation, I wouldn't open it for years, and it would be way too late to get any money back.

wub you would have known it was a repack if you looked at the box before you opened it, there's a crease at the thumb tab @2:04 . you can clearly see that whoever opened the box before didnt make sure not to damage it, only way to put a crease in it like that is to pulling on the box to try to open it.

the first indication of repack was the whiting/damage you could see on the borders of all the cards from the back

I'm glad that he was the one who opened it. All on video, from start to finish, and he has the cash to throw around in the first place. Glad that this series can concentrate the untampered boxes on the market, and get rid of those tampered ones.

Chaoslace and The Hive are next to each other on the rare sheet...I would say the rares were not swapped. I have a theory it was previously opened, and when the rares were found to be bad, the person kept and replaced a couple of good commons/uncommons then resealed it.
The systems used to randomized the cards for pack insertion should make cards next to each other on full sheets less likely to be packaged touching each other.
@@tylercampbell2147 Should have, but didn't. ABU product was notorious for including rares from the same area on the rare print sheet in a box. Starters very often had 2 adjacent cards from the rare sheet as rares.

I recently got into mtg and I've been loving this channel and the streams! It's hard to find engaging resources on Magic's history, so being able to see these card openings with wubby's (and chat's) commentary is super cool!

Actual starter decks have *way* more lands too. Like 15 - 20. Back in the day, you needed that land to play so you were happy(-ish) to get them.
Exactly, I noticed that too, and the reason there aren’t is because the basics are mostly worth more than crap commons. Notice the few actual unlimited lands were plains, the least valuable ones.
As a magic player who started in 09 and has loved the game for most of my life, its been depressing watching the game be so corporatized and sponsored by popular influencers who don't give a fuck but are paid to do it. That is not wubby, and Im so happy to see a large content creator who genuinely loves the game taking the time to make ACTUALLY entertaining content for magic thats not a deck tech, informational, or MTGO/MTGA gameplay. Just fun, genuinely entertaining pack openings that arent made by some boomer cringelord. Thank you for starting this channel wubbs and I hope it does well

Wubby opening packs is not the only nightmare for scammers, you also have his autistically observant fan base (including myself) that don’t. Miss. A. Thing. I think about the 3 seconds it took for more than one person in his live audience to find the purpose and instructional page TO THE SPECIFIC PAGE NUMBER for that single Lego piece that was missing in his piano build. It blows my mind and scammers should be scared of us too. Cuz’ we have our Wubby Woo’s back.

BRUTAL! Sorry to see this but hope it all works out. Beyond the tap symbol, it’s easy to spot revised based on the placement of the artist name at the bottom. Unlimited is centered and revised runs along the bottom border.
Wubby is the hero we need. Buy every starter deck on the market just to send a message.

2:13 this has me skeeved out, look at the side of the cards. There is a whole section that is darker then the rest. That should not be the case for cards fresh of the press. and then packaged. Those sides should all have the same color.

All you had to do was look at the SINGLE line on the border to know these were REVISED cards. Unlimited had double (read: thicker) lines on the borders.

Lots of revised cards mixed in there, definitely a re-pack. within the first ten cards it was noticable.

Yup, it's a well-known fact the worst rares you can get are the laces. We used to joke about only getting Life Lace as a rare. That is bad. The way to tell Revised is the print is much lighter, more of a faded look.

Since you didn't know either that it was a repack before opening, you did good to leave the seller the benefit of the doubt.
As someone that watches Rudy from Alpha Investment that teaches you what to look for when buying old MTG so you don't get scammed ... the wavy cellophane wrapping was a dead give away it was a repack. I would have stopped there and returned it to the seller. I don't think the seller knew though because if they did it they wouldn't have responded and just have been a fly by night seller and deleted their website. I hope both you and the seller can get their money back.
I still have about 300,000 cards sitting in boxes packed away that I’ve had since I was a child.
I’m 40 years old and started playing Magic in the 6th or 7th grade, quit playing by high school, sports and such became too time consuming.
I know I have one of those Black Lotus things , kids used to try and scam me for it in the 8th grade.
When the newer printers came out, kids would just glue printed cards overtop crummy cards.
I know I have a bunch of those Arabian Nights special cards.
I’m pretty sure I have a bunch of unopened packs still saved as well, not the AN ones just the single packs from the era he opened in the video.
A few years ago I checked into the prices when I was looking through old Jordan rookie cards and other basketball cards.
I know it’s all worth a lot I’ve just never been able to bring myself to sell them.
I should probably get them apprised, it’s just SO many cards I’m not sure it would be worth it.
I just hate that we never got to actually see a unbox of this set 😢
