Rich, really enjoy your videos, my dad had a 79 414A with the RSTOL kit, wow what a performer dropped into some short fields during my college years. Trips to Oskosh, and Southern Florida in the late 80s, what a beautiful example you have here. We looked at the 601P Aerostar, the Mojave, but the 414 is an excellent choice, spacious cabin, able to climb above the weather, the RSTOL kit is unreal
@@FlyingwithRich I remember my dad calling the FOB in Wolfeboro NH (a farmer who maintained the field) can you plow the runway I am landing there later this morning. He asked what type of aircraft etc...my dad a twin Cessna 414A. There was a silence then, you can't get that in here!!! The runway was pavement then, circa 1988 2800ft sloping down to the water. Fun times
I just flew a 414A for the first time back in August for an interview flight with a similar panel and autopilot. I got the job and will be flying it a lot more next week!
I’m considering a nearly identical Cessna 414 with 335 hp RAM Vii, dual Garmin 600 / 750. It’s not an “A”, therefore it has tip tanks. We will keep the plane down here in San Diego, California USA. Thanks for the review of this one.
Rich...really enjoy your videos. I flew a 1981 414A back in the 90s and absolutely loved how it handled. It flared so nice and could almost kiss the landings as well as a C 177 Cardinal that I flew as well. Laughed at your comment prior to landing versus the 421...got my twin rating in a 310...now there is a plane that makes kissing a landing a tall order.
I absolutely love your style of flying and really look forward to your video 👍 I'd fly with you anytime, keep em coming please please please.... John from San Diego.
Beautiful bird and awesome video. I’m upgrading my 421 to a similar panel, minus the autopilot, that will come later in the next round of upgrades. New Wx Radar as well. It will give me some of my airline pilot comfort and piece of mind when flying single pilot IFR in mountainous terrain. Nice job Rich!
i like your video but as a A&P mechanic many years ago FAA official ones told me never call the engines on a aircraft motors un lest there are electric, is your 414 have electric motors or there combustion engines.
I'm betting this was the queen of the fleet, at least in terms of capability. RAM VII + Robertson STOL is truly transformative. I've flown standard 414As before and wouldn't want to use them out of short fields at all, but this puppy is more than capable. I was always wondering why Cessna never partnered with Robertson, and why there hasn't been a 425 version of the STOL kit and why they didn't offer winglets on the 425. imagine a Blackhawk 425 with STOL and winglets..... - maybe you're in 441 territory and why bother, idunno, but the split flaps always kept me away form ownership.

Alpha Systems - not sure the exact model but it was a flush mount on the glare shield. Airplane sold so I can’t look at it for exact model. Thanks for watching!

Sounds like a lot of good memories! I was impressed it’s the RSTOL too and surprised we don’t see them more. Thanks for watching!

Awesome! Love the 414s too!
Nice demo.
Thanks!
Thanks for the ride. What a nice air plane. Good job.
Thank you!
I got my multi-engine rating a long time ago in a Cessna 310. This 414 is just awesome Rich...what a beautiful twin!!!
Yeah. Nicest twin Cessna I have ever seen. Haven’t been in a 310 in a while - great airplane.

You are welcome. Glad it was helpful!
Starting this same panel setup on my 1982 Cessna 414A this week. Can't wait for it to be done.
You'll love it!

ThAnk you - sounds like you had some nice airplanes! Always a treat to fly the twin Cessnas!
really nice aircraft, my dream garmin setup. great video, hope see more !
It’s definitely a dream panel! Thanks for watching!
This guy is a wealth of info , great visuals too. Thx for the effort.
Thank you!

Appreciate the comments and thanks for watching!
Nice 414 thank you for the video have a good day
Thanks for watching!
This must be the BEST Cessna cabin class twin out there.
Pretty close - thanks for watching!
It is the larger intercoolers that give it the 20 HP increase.
My dad had one of these in the 80s, I was only about 6 or 7 at the time. The best I can manage is I have it in Microsoft Flight Simulator! 😄
Oool time to be flying!
Brilliant review of a beautiful aircraft. Thanks for posting. Looking forward to more from lockdown London, England. 👊
Thanks for watching! More videos coming.
loved the avionics
Me too! Thanks for watching.
What a beauty.
Has to be one of it not the best all around 414A’s out there. Thanks for watching!
Well flown great twin thanks for sharing cheers

Thanks. Sounds like some nice upgrades!
👍👍👍👍👍
Very cool videos, keep up the great work.
Rich you rock brother 👊👊💯
This is ht perfect airplane fo a nice collection (talking small aircraft).
flew one for awhile....can't say it was one of my favorites to fly.
I have flown some better than others for sure. Well maintained and upgraded can make a big difference. Thanks for watching!

Electric.

Seems like the manufacturers always leave some big gaps for the modifiers!

you remember correctly !
Great video. Just curious, how much did this list for a few months ago? Considering a 410 and doing this upgrade.
I think it was $595K list price.
@@FlyingwithRich Thanks Rich. Kind of what I guessed. Like $250-300 for the aircraft and $250K for the platform upgrade. TOTALLY WORTH IT.
I agree. Really changes that airplane.
where do you add the winglets?
RAM Aircraft
Do you need a copilot when flying a twin
Depends on the twin - can’t think of any piston twins that require a co- pilot, but some jets do.
A question, how much for that upgrade on the plane?
$130K estimate.
@@FlyingwithRich Ok, thanks.
An antique plane.
Do you know what brand and model of AOA indicator that was?
Alpha Systems - not sure the exact model but it was a flush mount on the glare shield. Airplane sold so I can’t look at it for exact model. Thanks for watching!
That is an Alpha Systems AOA. You can see the brand on the dash and there is a module in the panel.
That's at least 100K panel right there. is it worth the price?
I guess that depends on your missions and how often you use it, but I definitely think so!
Kevin spent $240K on the panel and I have flown this plane before and after the upgrade
There are four references for airspeed on the panel. I appreciate redundancy. But, why four? When two would be adequate.
Easy info to display these days!
I'll buy the next one that you get. 😆🙃😅😃 ship to Australia??
Will do - always enjoy doing business in Australia! We come across another one soon!
How much $$ was it sold for?
It's been too long. Definitely for less than what it is worth now!
This is the spec and panel I want. Bitcoin millions on the horizon :).
Me too!

No synthetic vision?!
Pretty sure it did have synthetic vision - certainly had everything else! Thanks for watching!
