Just curious been out of state for a long time. I was a locomotive engineer for Southern Pacific. Used to work what was called the West sider. Ran from Brooklyn Yard to Hillsboro then South past the Dallas branch McMinnville press the corvallis branch coming out onto the main line at Albany then proceeding south to Eugene. On the way back from Eugene we took a slightly different route going through Newberg to Hillsboro and on into Brooklyn Yard.

SP spun off their branch lines in Oregon in 1993. West side is operated today by the Portland and Western. They also work south on the Oregon Electric to Eugene and west to Toledo. Tillamook Branch washed out in 2007. Coos Bay Branch still in use as is CORP. I'm sure others can give you more details but that's the picture.

Wasn’t ready to hit the send button I didn’t what happened to those branches? When I started 1963 that branch was operating on train orders still.
