My Father had a 2000E back in 1970, we went on holidays to France and the generator pulley split in two. We found a tiny little repair shop where the mechanic welded the pulley back together. It got us into Paris and the Ford dealer fitted a new pulley (cast iron). The car was a bronze colour with a tan roof. The plate number was YPB108G.

2000E Corsair must admit I`d like to see that get restored rather than broken for spares

Pour diesel and paraffin in the bores and leave it a few days to free up, it deserves a second chance 👍😀

My dad had one of these. Silver with black vinyl roof and twin Weber downdraught carbs. I drove it quite a lot. The acceleration was amazing - it gave me a right kick in the back. Was going up a long hill on a "meat in the sandwich" A road when I lost all power. Made it over the top on tick-over, and was lucky to find a layby. Very embarrassing. Bonnet up, found part of throttle linkage had come apart. Silly little pair of plastic ball joints with split housings held together by circlips, one of which had sprung off. Luckily was able to locate all parts, re-assemble, and go on my way again! The engine was lumpy at high power, but I quite liked that!

Friday 18th January 1980: sadly, the day my grandmother died 😪 I was never quite sure how/why the Corsair sat between the Cortina and the Zephyr/Zodiac? Lovely cars though, would have one in a heartbeat (especially with its Zodiac hubcaps!)

Pretty sure there's a stack of bits that will keep other Corsairs running but it would be nice to see the engine fire again.

Awesome. I was always fascinated with this type of car my dad owned. Loved flipping down the rear number plate to fill up the tank for a trip to Porthcawl ( local seaside resort) . Wish I had one to drive to my local beach : Daytona Beach Florida.Nothing like cruising down the International Speedway in an "F-reg" Ford Corsair. Love the videos.

That Corsair 2000E would have been top of the range back in its day. It's certainly seen better days. I noticed a white Reliant Scimitar in the yard, looking knackered. How did that happen.?.

Boy's did you try to free it using first gear. I may be wrong but you might have had a better chance rocking it in 4th gear as being driven from the wheels the gear ratio is reversed providing a higher torque on the crank. You will know this but you could remove the fan belt and starter motor. Such a shame to loose a car like this. It needs someone who will save it for love and not on economic grounds. Hope it survives.

  • @Vics251

Give it 24 hours for the oil to penetrate, then it may free off.
Don't write Marky boy off so easily. 4 X plugs, some elec-ic-tical bits and some brake cleaner, a little help from Top-Don, and she'll puke her guts up.Then a bit of swearing, a new set of points, a condensa, a new rotor arm. And a new charge for Top -Don. maybe some top grade Lanca$hire $wearing!
And she'll purr like a kitten, but that 2 Litre will be thirsty!

Hello David. I haven't cut my toenails since 1973. They began poking through my socks during the summer of 1974. They are now well over 3 feet long. Where do you live? I could visit you in your bungalow this evening. You can remove my wellington boots, peel off my dark green woollen socks and I will thrust my trotters in your face. Get your conk next to my dew beaters and inhale half a century of veruccas, athlete's foot and fungus. What are we having for dinner? I like pickled mussels. Who gets the end with the taps?

I owned a 1966 Corsair v4. Had a huge problem with busting gaskets the right side. Apparently the water jacket was located too close to the combustion chamber. The only way it was fixed was putting in copper lined gaskets. Generally it was a good car. Huge boot. A lot of interior room.

What was the outcome of this Corsair? To be honest it seems you gave up on it to easily. That car is far too good to scrap for spares. Can be restored. 4 cans of WD40, spray the whole engine thourouly, and all gear linkages, all underneath, just keep spraying everything every day for a week. Most components would free and loosen eventually. I watch those videos of hillbillies in Texas doing barn finds and the lengths they go to getting engines fired up after decades in the Bush or barn. You guys gave up to easily
