      Thomas Lupson-Darnell honestly most people, me included, want to use their phone in an instant, as a point-and-shoot. If I want to manually set up my camera every time I'll use my Canon because I will get much better results there.

    I suspect that the landscape shot should've won by the XZ since it has the highest resolution out of these smartphones, maybe even more than the DSLR has. I wonder what resolution is it on. The oversharpening maybe is because it is only at 8mp resolution and not the full 23mp because every landscape shot produced by the XZ are always the most detailed out of all smartphone cameras in the world. In low light, while the Pixel, iPhone 7, and S7 Edge are the best performers, head over to Manual Mode and use High Sensitivity Scene Mode, and the XZ will blow everything away

    • @sondesix_
      @sondesix_ 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shawn Mendes I agree with you for the most part, but why should they choose high sensitivity in manual mode when they're comparing these phones in auto mode?

    • @troy5568
      @troy5568 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Alvin Zahran Majid Cause it's just a matter of choosing the scene mode, and that doesn't even take a minute to do, not even 30 seconds, or even 15. Just set all the settings to Auto in Manual Mode but choose it in High Sensitivity and that's where Sony processes best low light photos

    • @overknight5278
      @overknight5278 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shawn Mendes thats a lie, i had the xperia 2 and it sucked ass, also megapixels arent the issue. A 1080 p camera with 20 megapixels can be worst then a 1080p 8 megapixel. Resolution goes by 1080p UHD/4K etc. from my understanding the megapixels are how far it can zoom in on something (what they told me) the xperia z2 had a 23 megapixel camera but my iphone 5s had a lower count and took better photos.

    • @overknight5278
      @overknight5278 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shawn Mendes the z2 didnt kick ass, and the Z5 has the largest angle shots but nothing to the s7 or iphone 7. And to ths 6s ans s7 okay. But the z5 would over sharpen thr photo and leave a lot of noise in. Plus when put at a 9:16 it would drop to 12 megapixel. I havent used that phone but if its anything like the 2. softwear will most likely be ass

    HTC 10's lenses are non-oleophobic sapphire glass which requires cleaning/wiping after immediate touch. Those tests doesn't justify its camera capabilities. Don't destroy its image to the average consumer.

      Thanks ....Is that why the shots they took with the HTC 10 look so bad ... I've got one and I never got pictures as bad as they were able to get ... interesting ...

    I have seen many comparisons on youtube untill I bought iphone 7 plus and galaxy s7. From my real experience in daily life, s7 camera is much better than iphone 7 plus. so when I want to take photos, I will pick up s7 instead of ip 7 plus.

    • @Samosayummyyay
      @Samosayummyyay 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Same here. My girlfriends' iPhone 7 Plus performed worse than her 6S Plus (7 Plus has bad battery life, camera not worth it, rest is the same or downgraded) so she returned it. The 7 Plus constantly blows out highlights in automatic mode. The Galaxy S7 also blows out highlights on automatic mode. I do not know why both companies made such a weird decision. I own an galaxy S7 Edge and only on Android Nougat Samsung has integrated the camera quality of the discontinued Note 7 (this phone truly was the best). With that, it is perfect.

    Still on the 6S+ and I'm very satisfied with the picture quality. I guess it could've been a bit sharper when zooming in, but it's not bad as it is. Google Pixel looks very good as well as the iPhone 7+ though!

      When the iphone 7 plus uses both sensors it creates an image closer to what our eyes see because of our two eyeballs. But it would have flopped in low light situations and even though I love the iphone 7 I can safely say that it was not the best. Every phone has its special camera feature so no one can really put a crown on a single phone.

    The issue with the Samsung is that you have to clean the lens. I do not why all your pictures taken with the S7 are so terrible. I take nightshots all the time, perfectly pin-point sharp and properly exposed. Only time my S7 Edge fails is when my camera lens has gotten oily from my hands.

    Why choose "16:9" on Xperia XZ?🤔

    I don't really take a lot of photos on my phone, but I can say that Google, Apple, and Samsung didn't do too bad in this camera test. However, LG, HTC, and Sony definitely struggled to have good photos especially in low light.

    DSLR should blow them away with macro lens for that close up (as you said). However, the use cases are very different. Traveling around with a phone in your pocket vs lugging a DSLR and bag of lenses really changes the experience. They both have their places. I enjoyed your video.

    • @PurpleAlpha95
      @PurpleAlpha95 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** overexposed? Its oversharped but not overexposed. it actually has the most accurate color reproduction (according to the reviewers) the xz handels very good with light and is sharp, the downside is the detail and low light performance but it is NEVER worse than htc 10 camera. That is a HUGE insult for sony

    • @troy5568
      @troy5568 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Purple Alpha The downside of the XZ is not detail or low light performance, but the software it uses. It's very inconsistent, but if we base the phones on their camera specs, the XZ easily has the best camera out of any smartphone today. That Triple Image Sensing technology is unstoppable which none of the 12mp shooters can compete nor 16mp ones, but the software it rests on is just not good. You have to go to full Manual to get your desired results. Though when you do, you'll great incredible shots that only DSLRs could really match

    in the first image where you said the HTC 10 failed I thought it took the clearest most realistic photo of the guy. Yes the light in the background may have drowned out the photo but what do you expect with a camera with large pixels (more light) this can easily be adjusted by a slide of the finger on the screen when taking the shot. Due to the HTC 10 having larger pixels it will prove more capable than most in more scenarios etc, but may require slight adjustments of the lighting when there is bright lights in the background. All the other cameras may not have the bright background light but their images also look unrealistic and pixelated. the Sony, and iPhone are probably the next best ones in this photo.

    Review sites like this will always praise whom ever is providing the cash flow. It's the same reason when you go into a Verizon, Sprint, BestBuy, etc that the first phones they through in your race is either a Samsung or iPhone, because they are compensated for it. Now the google pixel (though worth the praise) is also among these.

      SASI KUMARR XZ is not in the last. The G5 and HTC 10 struggled against the XZ in that jumping motion and that portrait picture of the person. The landscape shot of the XZ here wasn't on full resolution, hence the software oversharpens the image so much to preserve the loss of detail. If only it was at the full 20mp resolution, the XZ would even blow the Pixel away in terms of sharpness. A lot of landscape shots taken with the XZ always looks the best, but it wasn't fair here since TechRadar didn't really confirm the resolution on the XZ. In low light, while the XZ is not the best performer, I do believe it will do a much better overall job when it's in Manual Mode with settings all in Auto Mode.
      The Pixel is only great because of its quick HDR+ post-processing speed. It takes HDR photos quickly like it only takes a low resolution image. While images do turn out good, colors aren't that accurate at least for me. I don't believe that it was that orange in that landscape one. The most accurate is obviouslu the XZ because of the help of RGBC-IR sensor. Although packing good amount of detail, it's not enough to beat the two higher resolution cameras in the competition; the G5 and XZ.
      S7 produces the most consistent images out of all I must say. It's not always the best at every scenario, but it never went the worst either, making it a balance in between good and poor. I must say that as a Sony fan, the S7 really impressed me with the camera
      IPhone 7 isn't really interesting to me. Yes it takes great pictures like the S7 Edge but often I do see it oversaturate colors too much, even more aggressive than the Pixel does. I don't like those kind of photos because not everybody takes photos and upload them on the internet. I must say that it's just as good as the S7 if it wasn't for the oversaturation
      HTC still has a lot of improvements to do next year with their cameras. I mean at least with specs, it should be as good as the Pixel, maybe even more because of the brighter aperture and presence of OIS. Now what happened? It easily loses to these flagships that are supposed to be defeated by this phone given the hardware, which puts HTC into shame with their camera. I'm not saying it's bad. In fact this is actually the first flagship HTC phone I considered trying, but the camera, while a huge improvement over the past years, is still not competitive enough to be desired by the majority over the major flagship brands like Samsung and Apple. The fact that HTC is known to be the company who built the Pixel phones, which have the best cameras in a smartphone, just puts HTC's reputation into shame. I really hope HTC finally gets everything right, then I might consider their flagships.
      2017 would be an interesting year for smartphone evolution. I hope it won't disappoint us like this year did

      Shawn Mendes from my experience the s7 over saturates them not the iphone. I had the s7 before i switched to the iphone 7 (before the s7 i had the 6) iv always seen galaxys over saturate the photos while the iphone is more true to life. The google pixel i might add is slightly better. But all the photos after editing them look amazing. The sont phone would be left behind though

      SASI KUMARR
      I disagree a little with your assessment. The iPhone 7 is not as good as the s7 imo. I've seen blind tests and even dxomark (objective benchmark for cameras) all say that the s7 is better with photos. HTC 10 didn't look good here, while Sony and LG had their moments.

    for low light the htc was best. Best noise reduction if u check shadows and it was better exposed with preserved details because it and the iPhone are the only phones with the fence not blurred out but the 10 was better so it gets the win.

    one of the worst test I've seen in TH-cam , you know that you have to actually tap the focus on the subject in auto mode no?

    • @troy5568
      @troy5568 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      daniel zolfaghari Wth you're in Auto Mode and you'd still have to tap to focus? Auto Mode is made for point and shoot situations where there's no time for adjusting the settings, so the sensor should do its own job

    • @danielzolfaghari
      @danielzolfaghari 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Shawn Mendes you're kidding right???? auto mode means the camera adjusts the iso and aperture and shutter speed automatically but in most shots lighting is not the same in all parts so you have to tap the focus to tell the camera to adjust the exposure according to that, same in DSLRs

    • @troy5568
      @troy5568 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      daniel zolfaghari Auto Mode adjusts everything according to the scenario. Exposure and focus point are included. These are flagship phones so taking a picture without adjusting anything is their job

      Are you fucking kidding me?! Is this the only review you've watched. I can guarantee you that if you watch a comparison between the google pixel and the iphone 7 plus, they all say that the iphone 7 plus has better zoom, and it's the king in video, because of it's optical image stabilization unlike the google pixel's digital image stabilization! So overall the camera is better, because it also takes images quicker!

Xperia Z2 and iPhone 6S at the moment. since my Xperia Z2 if going to give away soon, (the back cover is off, the battery starts to swell) i'm selling it as a spare part. Now, i'm still in confuse mode either to keep the iPhone 7, or sell it and get either Google Pixel, Galaxy S7 Edge, or Xperia XZ.
