I arrived at Brunch during US Thanksgiving at a local casino and received this message to update to 4.2.1 prior to shutting off my 2020 Defender 110. Of course I accepted, then double locked the doors, and when i came out a few hours later, my Defender 110 was all updated! Very cool!
Simon, just been out to look in my Feb 2023 built D250 90 HSE that installed the update on Friday afternoon and I have no changes to the A/C - Auto set up - the icons turn orange when I switch the aircon on and white when off - normal set up for me is A/C on permanently in Auto and both sides on setting 22 and it’s all fine
Hi Tim - thanks for checking - its a really odd one - probably something to do with me messing around with the 13" screen upgrade. Good news the 13" screen now works !
Simon, my MY20 Diesel - similar vintage to your Stig - had the NFSM wired update done in October but it's taken until today to perform the OTA update to 4.2.1. The A/C buttons operate as normal, I wonder if your issue is somehow wiring due to the screen upgrade, or a coincidental problem with the microswitches themselves?
I really appreciate your help - good to know. I cant think all 3 switches have failed so i think it must be some of my changes to the car software... but in some of the comments there are people with the same problem on the Range Rover !
What is the situation if a JLR update (which you accept) mucks it all up? If its out of warranty are they required to assist you further for free? Hopefully its something you have done (and so can undo if necessary) but as you often say we break it so you don't have to. Fingers crossed you can resolve things and keep Stig in the pink (or green).
After watching your video I went out to check my 23MY Range Rover which hadn't had the update. My Auto was on and I couldn't turn it off. Ran the update this morning and still can't switch the Auto off.
Thanks linking to us Simon - much appreciated! Can I add your data to the post? This version seems to have the most model specific release notes yet. I've added a few model specific notes already. If you're okay with that, can you let me know the exact year and model of The Stig? Land Rover hasn't updated the official site yet. Thanks!
Interesting - that is 2 of us now ! Let me know if you get chance to take it to the dealer and what they do about it. The problem for me is that i have changed a lot on my car...
Simon…a bit of a tangent but we had something that might be a kind of supporting link. We went to a place in Wales that we have never been and so set up the Navigation in Hilary’s Puma. It certainly prepared the journey but had no sound guidance. Nothing I could find on screen including a Mute button, made any difference. Next was a second destination and still no voice but on the way home, suddenly the voice appeared and the only change was turning the radio volume up just after starting off. The same control operates both modes..the radio and guidance but until you have some radio volume, it doesn’t have voice guidance although once enabled, you can return the radio volume to nil but the guidance continues. I sense some Christmas Homework coming up trying to sort the Stig! ( Some very odd English in that update…”Increased Robustness”…..there is no such word…!!!…Increased protection/strength/ ability” perhaps but “ robustness”….very odd! 🫣🫣😬😃😃😃😃R
I was in a similar situation and I was stuck in 3.3 something which i have had it in 2023 February. It was the update for wireless Android auto/apple car play update. My dealer also hadn't found a way to update my software at that time and out of nowhere, i finally got my 4.0 update 1.5 month ago. From that day on, i received at least 2 updates. I think it will eventually happen at some point.

Getting these updates on our old cars is so cool !
ive installed this a week or so ago on my P300 Disco 5. I've not noticed any differences, my car runs absolutely perfect.
Thanks for sharing.
We had this update almost a month ago…. Absolutely no issues. Expat in Taiwan.
Good to hear - thanks for letting me know....
I also got the update about 3-4 weeks ago, and I haven't seen any problems with my A/C auto.
Good to know - thanks for letting me know
Merry Christmas!
Happy Christmas Alan - thanks for all your support and comments over the year !

I’m hoping 4.2.1 has cured the intermittent non start on crank issue I had on my D350 90 🤞😊
Hi Rob - this would seem to be a problem they have addressed !
@@L663 I do hope so!
mine is a 12/2020 P400 X installed latest update no issues with auto it works fine

The plot thickens ! Does your cr have auto as a button or is it done via the touchscreen ?
@L663 it's a button, in fact 2 one either side of the sync button. MY 24 it all went onto the touch screen
@@simonspring3652 I am working on getting all of this moved onto the touchscreen... maybe this will help ?

No problem - The stig is MY2020 P300 and I also got the update on the 90 at the same time MY2024 P400 MHEV
@@L663 Thanks, added to the notes and linked back to you guys. If the P400 had any different notes and you want to share them I'd post too.
All my ac stopped working after the update no idea why on my 2022 defender v8

Does anyone know how to upgrade the software? On the 2016 landrover discovery Sports L550 just can't seem to be able to find a way of doing it.
This is for the new Defender
Boom Boom!! 💥 💥
The Auto Should work if you turn the temperature to low otherwise Auto will not work it’s happened with me.
Interesting - has your car always been like this ? what year is your car ?

Stuck on version 3.3. JLR Australia refuses to admit there is a later version.
You are a few levels behind there ! maybe it takes a long time to get the signals to the other side of the world !

Like the Stig, mine is a P300. As the update addresses 6 cylinder engines, why would I install this update? Irrelevant at best, risky at worst.
A good question but there always a few improvements that Land Rover do not admit to hidden in the update that i am sure will be useful.
👌👌👌👍👋👋❤️❤️🇬🇧
Poor sound?
Yes i filmed most of this on my phone - sorry
