I just watched a clip of Duran being interviewed. In the clip, he was asked who was his toughest opponent? Duran said THIS man here, Ken Buchanan. Now that surely must make Ken feel good. :)
Kenny landed a lot. No one was going past a few rounds with Duran without being knocked our and he took him deep. The low blow ending is still pretty puzzling to me. Tough dude.
lol best scottish fghter of all time, i love ken but cant compare him to the likes of calzaghe, lennox lewis, prince naseem, jimmy wilde etc etc, especially if your talking about there resumes
What happened is that the referee grabbed Duran when the bell sounded to stop any more punches and accidentally pulled Durans blow downward. Duran was way ahead on points. The same Ref aside from the low blow stopped the fight seeing Buchanans bad condition when he went to his corner and did not disqualify Duran.
Watched it the other day Duran was clearly winning and had Ken hurt a number of times. The ending was a poor one, but Ken threw punches after the bell also, that being said it wouldn't have changed the outcome of the fight, he needed the KO by that stage and that was never gonna happen
Duran was well out in front and both of them were punching after the bell. The ref even put his hands on Roberto as he was punching and hit Ken low. This is not a case where you should call a disqualification, particularly since both punched after the bell. Today, you would give Ken time to recover and then resume the fight or if he couldnt go on (which I am sure he couldn't because of the injury) - then go to the scorecards. It was Duran's bout. No way to rule otherwise.
Ken was one of the best pound for pound British fighters of all time. Roberto Duran has recently asserted that Buchanan was his toughest ever opponent.
After Duran on intentionly punch bucantion balls he put him the hospital for 5 days doctors almost did surgurgey on Kenny thank you Marvin Hagler for beating the crap out of duran
@@tedmyers8639 Well actually Ted, Marvin Hagler certainly did not “beat the crap out of Duran.” The fight went 15 rounds, every round very closely contested. The judges narrowly gave the decision to Hagler by one and two rounds. At the age of 31 and going up in nearly two stone in weight from his lightweight glory days, to narrowly lose to one of the greatest middleweights of all time, proves to me that Duran was undoubtedly one of the all time best fighters, born of woman. There were no marks on Duran’s face at the end of the bout, and he would have gone on another ten rounds if they had let him. Look at his posture as the final bell sounded. Hagler did beat the crap out of most of his challengers, but he did not do so against Duran or Leonard. The only difference being that Duran took him on in his absolute prime, Leonard waited until Hagler had visibly slowed down.
