- DLL Is Either Not Designed to Run on Windows or It Contains an Error [Solution]
Commands Used:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
A DLL file in Windows carries all the code that one program can use to function correctly. Like any other software, the functions in the DLL file needs to be compatible with Windows if they are using any inbuilt service. If you receive an error saying “DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error,” then it could be a compatibility issue.
Issues addressed in this tutorial:
vcruntime140.dll is either not designed to run on windows
cdp.dll is either not designed to run on windows
spwizeng.dll is either not designed to run on windows
libcef.dll is either not designed to run on windows
msi.dll is either not designed to run on windows
msvcr120.dll is either not designed to run on windows
steam_api64.dll is either not designed to run on windows
nvspcap.dll is either not designed to run on windows
nvapi.dll is either not designed to run
amdihk32.dll is either not designed to run on windows
Bad Image error’s is an error which comes up when Windows cannot run the programs you tried running mainly due to the files and libraries needed to run the program are corrupted due to an update.
Every version of the Windows Operating System starting with Windows 8 is configured to automatically check for, download and install available updates from time to time. However, sometimes, installing specific Windows updates can lead to different kinds of problems. One of these problems is the (name of application).exe - Bad Image error message that starts appearing very often after either downloading and installing a defective update for Windows or updating a Windows computer to an iteration of Windows 8/10/11 that has the defective update pre-installed.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Alienware, Razer, MSI, Huawei , Microsoft Surface, and Samsung.

A lot of the time when I do a sfc /scannow just after a Windows 11 update it finds corrupt files & fixes them.
I should make it a habit then. It usually happens after a major update for me.
Still works in 2024 no other video worked but this thanks a lot
Glad I could help
Ugh thank you so much my man, been watching so many videos but none have worked except for this one.

Hello. After inputting the first command, I got the error:
"Error: 87
The cleanup_image option is unknown.
For more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log"
I made sure that the command was written correctly. Can you help me fix this issue? Help will be appreciated.
Mine Error: 193
Same
Hi, I ran into the same problem and the same error message showed. Mine was solved by making sure to include the spaces in the written commands.
As the OP instructed:
1st Command Used: Dism.exe/online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth
2nd Command Used: sfc/scannow
This should solve your frustration. Hope this helps!
@@neilmdalcala Thank you very much for the suggestion.
But I think that I did include the spaces too. I think that windows is so corrupted that the command wasn't found.

This ended up rectifying my issue, thanks.

Hello! Out of topic request, please test the latest iobit malware fighter, or any other iobit products? Thank you!
Haven't made an antivirus review in like 9 years. Became too difficult and basically meaningless. Windows has seriously stepped-up their security, alongside browsers, and as long as you follow good practices the built-in stuff works fine.
