As a Venezuelan I will say 2 things: 1. A couple decades ago civilians could own guns and even open carry in the backcountry. You had access to shotguns, hunting rifles, handguns, and some "semi-auto/automatic" rifles (it was around the 1950s) in a reasonably accessible manner if you had to money to afford them. 2. Now, the few very people that had guns in this century are now illegal because the government left them on a years-long waiting list for renovating their permits. In 2017 a new gun law (which can be called illegitimate) was published that made it practically impossible to own them. The ones that have guns now are corrupt military and public personnel, along with what we call "Colectivos" which are basically thugs with guns that work for the government. Oh, and the gangs that are killing dozens of people in mass shootings every month, gangs that were armed by the government in a program so-called "Peace zones" or Zonas de Paz. The people armed are the ones that do harm to our society, and good abiding citizens that want to protect their families can't even get a revolver. Our military left us to die multiple times and the government doesn't care at all about us. The only person that will protect you 24/7 your whole life is YOU, only you. It's every living being's right to protect their lives by all matters. Edit: Holy bananas I didn't expect so many likes. Thanks for the good vibes guys! Stay prepared and aware.
Thank you for your personal input on this subject. I grew up in Florida and attended school with children of Cuban Exiles. My next door neighbors were Cuban Exiles. I heard many horror stories about how the Castro regime used his predecessor's firearm registries to confiscate guns, and if the people did not cooperate, they(or their family members) were taken away and tortured, beaten to death, or left to starve in a cell- that is if they weren't simply executed in the street to begin with- women & children included. These stories have opened my mind to other totalitarian regimes- such as your experience as a Venezuelan, and even more recent situations such as Myanmar, where the population are trying to fight back against a corrupt government & army- and they are using SLINGSHOTS because they have no firearms. The Founders of the United States did their own research and studied world history. They knew that history tends to repeat itself and crafted 'check valves' into the Constitution to prevent a tyrannical government from attaining power. Our Second Amendment is one such check valve. There are those who claim that rag-tag militias with mostly small arms would stand no chance against a powerful military. Just add a little perseverance & such forces are successful. Just look at the Taliban in Afghanistan right now.

I agree with the guy saying people who shouldnt own anything "military grade." Why would I want the cheapest stuff slapped together by the lowest bidder? 😀
Ha ha thats funny. Mostly true, but for real guchi guns are an issue and often over priced. Really an ar milspec part should be not worse than well milspec or better. In short its not milspec if coatings and part dimensions are not identical. Thats primary issue creating this military grade mentality. Example that LWRC AR-15, hot damn that thing is totally tuned and nothing is mil-spec. What does packaging say? Mil-spec this and mil-spec that. If they stopped saying mil-spec when clearly dimensions or coating are different. Things would be better. Hell even the lowers often aren’t mil-spec if even one change is done altering its shape or features.
@Nefarious J Coatings are not paint but one might confuse that. Military has various colors in the typical coatings. There are military coatings designed for IR reduction that we can not get. Spray paint over that and you in a way voided that coatings purpose. Im more referring to bolt, receiver, barrel, trigger coatings/treatments. If you strip the mil-spec coating and it was sold as mil-spec coated but not a mil-spec barrel. Then yes you effectively made it not mil-spec. Thats my point is selling a ar-15 as milspec would imply all parts are mil-spec. If you sold ar-15 as insert brand or model featuring mil-spec trigger. Then only that trigger is mil-spec.

Mr. Smith: Kidding aside; in argumentation parlance to _“disarm”_ one’s audience _(or opposition during discussion of controversial topics),_ means to offer subdued rebuttal -- a toned down or humorized alternative argument. A good example of _disarming_ in this vid begins at 5:48 when the older gent wearing a blue shirt, attempts to tie 2A applicability ONLY to militia service. Lovell artfully references James Monroe (but perhaps meant George Mason), citing the *_“except a few public officers”_* portion of statements from an 1788 debate transcript (link below); pointing out the humor, suggestively juxtaposed against modern-day lawmaker behaviors. Now notice the older gent’s facial expressions; he does not know how to respond. He is, in a word, _disarmed._ press-pubs.uchicago.edu/founders/print_documents/a4_4s9.html

It's hilarious how John says the word "gun" when he asks the question. He's got to ease them into the topic and not trigger a flashback to that time in kindergarten when one of their schoolmates shaped a poptart to resemble a gun.
When my kids were in school I fought so hard to get *REAL* 6UN Safety included in EVERY year of instruction. THEN they started with "Active Shooter DriIIs" & it seemed even more important! I admit to having somewhat devious motivations: My logic to THEM was simple. VERY FEW teachers had ever handled a weapon, nor had many students (in the upper grades). What would happen if an actual event DID occur & they were able to wrestle the weapon away from the "bad guy"? They'd have NO CLUE what to do NEXT! They wouldn't know how to remove a magazine, or how disable the weapon at all. OR how to use it on the suspect, if the need & opportunity arose. Now here's my nefarious part: Once these teachers, support staff, and students with their parents start going to ranges & begin being taught by real professionals, they'll have an entire change-of-heart like EVERYONE DOES. They'll soon realize that the weapons are harmless. It's the PPL who are the problem. They'll start meeting more ppl in the culture & they'll start going to the range ON THEIR OWN. Soon, we'll have hundreds of new converts! See, the School Boards KNEW this. That's why they NEVER let me present my idea to the teachers or the PTA's. If kids got injured or kiIIed bc teachers had NO CLUE what to do in an emergency, too bad!

“No, the 2nd Amendment was just telling the military that they could have guns.” I’ve heard that argument before, and it never ceases to make me want to beat my head off the wall until gray matter leaks from my ears.
And the legal age is constitutionally defined as 17 years and older. Now, why does one need to be 18/21 to buy a gun when they are a member of the militia?
Hell, why potential? I'd like to see everyone open carrying. The only reason conceal carry is more prudent is due to the infrequency of people carrying at all, if we all did it we could all have it out in plain sight.

People forget that the Bill of Rights isn’t a rules list for the people but for the government.
It is amazing that so many people go with the "it was a long time ago" argument against the 2A but not any of the other rights. I wish John would ask this. As a Venezuelan I will say 2 things:

I agree with the guy saying people who shouldnt own anything "military grade." Why would I want the cheapest stuff slapped together by the lowest bidder? 😀
Me with my 1700 dollar ar-10
My M16-A2 barrel was so worn it was comical. My BMC AR is so dead on balls accurate a overweight half blind me can shoot tight groups.

Kidding aside; in argumentation parlance to _“disarm”_ one’s audience _(or opposition during discussion of controversial topics),_ means to offer subdued rebuttal -- a toned down or humorized alternative argument.
He is, in a word, _disarmed._

Then Israel and America join in. Its less common in America and cloaked in "eminent domain" jargon but all governments will simply take your home if they choose. Some governments will depose your government and install one they prefer if they choose. Just ask the Taliban.
Not to mention see what happens if you stop paying property taxes that they cleverly baked into the cake so you never own your home and they have leverage.
THIS....... is how you change the minds. Well done.
John is such a fucking polite guy. We need more Johns in the world.
John who? 🤪🤣🥴🤦One would think, but there are those who also have their sights set on him for his overt covert activity and to whom he has an accounting: a life for a life as he is a life taker and if it is GOD'S will so our GOD is a merciful GOD and GOD is great and GOD is good. GOD is loyal to His loyal ones and All Merciful All Knowing and All Powerful...however it was not in the service of GOD that he, 'Lovell, John' so took many lives, therefore, if it was GOD's will then also he should have nothing to fear. Fear GOD and give HIM Glory but do NOT MOCK GOD, what you vow keep your vow and your promises to GOD Keep. John is not John he is someone else; and you have been lied to. He is in deep. And are you somebody's prayer? How do you feel about him if you knew he stalked me for over two decades asked me to marry him but it was just a game to him, yeah he was super polite to ask...but his promise was false and his tongue deceptive also cutting deep as a dagger. He has gone to the darkside; pray for him.🙏
That's okay John my love for you will save you. i think i finally can forgive you after you pushed this one out. Ooops. i did it again🥲🤭🙃🙂🥲 ty for your hard work though. You weirdo.

John adheres to the golden rule: Be Excellent To Each Other.
No one needs a “military grade” firearm. Get yourself something better that isn’t made from the lowest bidder.
While what you say makes perfect sense, to those people, “military grade” is a a firearm that looks like what the military used and like they’d know the difference between your typical M4 compared to an aftermarket AR15.
@@KlaustheViking If anything the civilian grade ones are higher quality
Regular people are willing to spend a grand on an AR-15
The army spend $680

John is such a good interviewer. He has a way of connecting with everyone and presenting friendly personality, even with those that disagree with them.
He shows you can still engage in conversation without being confrontational or degrading.
That older guy with the blue shirt. He just screamed “up-tight liberal” from the start.
Agreed. Way more enjoyable to watch this than some I've seen by other channels...
@@astang1072 I agree.....but he also had a German accent. If you were born/raised in Europe, you'd have a very different look at the topic. With that said, I thought the interview was cordially conducted and he let him have his points. It wasn't a "gotcha" interview. I will also say that John failed to read the ENTIRE 2nd Amendment to him when citing his example. I was bummed about that. That disjoint of the clauses in the 2nd Amendment has been argued for many, many years. It's currently settled with the 2008 Heller decision. For the record, I'm an avid 2A supporter, but I do appreciate open dialogue on the issue.
The dude in the beater was the most based of everyone love it.
I like how John's not arguing or making fun of anyone, just asking pointedly for the stance.
Absolutely, agree. I'm sure some were expecting a nasty attitude. What's the point? It's their viewpoint.
That's because of the fact he's a good decent person .

The old guy is more like Joe Biden
That guy was German and needs to be sent back right now to determine how it all worked out for his people. Flees oppressive country with horrific history and doesn't change his views.
The guy with the beads is spot on correct, but he has got one goofy style. We could use a few more people like him.
If this was the early 1940s you know where the old guy would have been.
you have a lot more patience than I do.
The questions that always blow up the pro-control argument:
- You believe guns are too dangerous for citizens to own? (Yes)
- Who would you prefer to be the only people who have scary weapons? (Government/police)
- Do you trust the government/police, especially if they're the only people who have guns? (....🦗🦗🦗)
The cognitive dissonance is staggering.

I love hearing a foreigner that came to the USA because it's better than the place they grew up, trying to tell an American Patriot like John, the exact verbiage of the Second Amendment. The comma between both parts of the 2nd is really really important. One refers to having a well organized militia of free men and the other specifies that the government CANNOT infringe on inalienable rights of Americans. It is amazing that so many people go with the "it was a long time ago" argument against the 2A but not any of the other rights. I wish John would ask this. Name a time in which rights that were taken, or even given away, were ever given back.
My brother in law tells me "The 2A is just not big enough, it leaves too much grey area. Look at the other Amendments, they are long and detailed."

I love how the girl mentioned that the problem isn't the citizens buying guns because their only buying guns to protect themselves. The problem is the criminals who DON'T follow laws and some of them aren't even supposed to have access to guns and either way they get guns. Perfect example is Venezuela where all the thugs got guns and the government took away all of the guns from the law abiding citizens. Btw Venezuela as of 2021 is the most dangerous country in the world. Let that sink in...
