I'm a surface rescue swimmer in the navy and we're told to always keep positive control of the person no matter what, the biggest thing I noticed was when you were securing him into the MEDEVAC Litter, for us we have to wrap our legs around it so we can keep that positive control so we can use our hands but you don't do that. is that not a part of CG procedures?

And also why do swimmers always hang onto the basket while it being pulled up
To keep the litter from swinging on its way up
That is to keep it from swinging
