For Asians, I'd definitely say it is due to the specific cultural dynamics. We've been brought up to respect elders no matter what, and to always give them the benefit of doubt. Unfortunately that unintentionally extends to corporate environment as well. We tend to think we are disrespecting them even if we are articulating our thoughts.
