    I found that when the replacement element arrived the fixing bracket was in a different position to the original one. It meant that if I used the existing lower hole for the element fixing point then the element would touch the fan. So I had to drill a new small hole (2mm metal drill) in the metal back of the oven for the fixing screw. Fortunately this did not take too long. Everything else worked well , exactly as you described in your video. Thanks to much for posting it , has saved me £s and also proved I can manage these jobs myself without waiting for a tradesman to turn up and do it for me.

      So long as you can gain access to things that need repair - and there is a long-standing problem with manufacturers who make it otherwise - then you can usually fix anything. Luckily, the EU is forcing makers to make everything repairable by the user now and this will improve things, even in Brexit Disaster UK.

    Thanks to this video, I simply turned the power off to the house, found that my oven has the element at the Front so the oven stayed in the wall, one philips head screw driver, 4 screws and only 2 plugs later.. Fantastic video, I really hope I can find the element and it is the element that has gone. My oven just wont heat up properly on the fan heating setting, light and fan is fine, but top bottom (grill type) seem to all work, so I guess it is this back heating element thing. I know nothing about ovens but I do know we have not enough to throw it and buy a new one, so I am going to give this my best shot just as soon as I can find the exact element for my oven
    Thanks so much for this upload, I am sure it has helped far more than have commented that it has!

    Thanks I just fixed our oven for £22! For me one of the wires did indeed go back through the hole, as it was a bit loose on the new element. I had to open the back of the oven and push the wire back through. It was pretty obvious which wire to push through. Cheers.

  • @choc_chip

    Excellent video, thanks! Job done. With hindsight I'd have chosen a brighter time of day, and also considered that it would involve cleaning the oven... 🙄 One point of safety: allowing the test run to cool down before replacing the cover (yes, I burned my fingers 🤦‍♀️), and switching off the power again beforehand. Also a practical suggestion: using masking tape across the hole/s to stop the wires going down the back.

    Thanks for the video. Typically, the two screws holding the element to the power supply had been installed from the back so had to take the oven out, remove the back panel just to remove them. They will be going back in from within the oven cavity once I have the new element.

    • @philipmcdonnell7168

      Follow-up: the DeLonghi DC-60DF dual fuel oven has to have the screws fitted from the back as it’s the element that has the thread. There’s no threads on the carcass. 😬

      @alanpierce219 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The element in my Lamona 4603 fan oven was exactly the same with 2 of the 3 attachment screws installed form the back, WTF !! Rather than pull the whole double oven out from the kitchen unit I managed to remove the 2 screws using grips on the screw tails and back-wound them out. I then pulled them out using a magnet on a stick through the cable slot. Could probably leave them in there tbh as they are caught up in the insulation and not really a problem. I then opened up the two holes in the new element attachment plate to 3/16" diameter and installed it with 2 suitable self tapping screws fitted from the front . Mission completed in about 20 mins for just the price of the element , about £10. 👍😉

    just fixed my oven for £6.99 . What a guy👍🏾. Although, my oven didn’t have an earthing cable (i double checked by taking the back off to see if it had fallen, there just wasn’t one there). So don’t freak out if you can’t find it, “some/newer ovens earth through the oven cavity.” says google.

    Did you know : Ceramic heating elements like this aren't polarity sensitive so you can put the wires on either way round and it does not matter,
    I would always suggest taking the back off to do a inspection of the wires and if there are any thermal leaks behind the oven that could be burning wires.

      Its a simple job if you take your time. Just makes sure you note the wires and where they go and dont let them fall through the hole. Good luck.

    Thank you for your video. I can find the four screws for the enclosure. With a great deal of effort, I can remove three of screws. The final screw is "rusted tight." Do you have any advise on how I can loosen this screw from the rust please?

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. You will have to carefully drill off the head of the screw with an electric drill and
      either punch the shaft of the screw back through its hole or if it sticks out unscrew it with pliers. You can replace it with a new self tapping screw.

      @@CB-RADIO-UK Thank yo for your reply. The oven the is fitted between 2 cupboards, an awkward position. Should I be using a thinner drill than the screw or a wider drill then the screw?

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Use a much wider drill. If you can run it a slow speed to grind the head of the screw off. Take your time because you dont want to make the screw hole any bigger.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the video. My oven was tripping my electrics. So I watched this video and changed the element. It was really easy. However. Now my fan spins very slowly and the element is glowing red hot which it never did before. Any idea. Maybe the fan motor had gone?

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Yes thats how they normally go by spinning slowly. Replacing fans are a little more tricky esp to get the right fan.
