- With a 3D magnet sensor that costs $1 and a 15 cent magnet we are able to measure water flow rate, joystick movement, linear slide position and position of a knob.

The sensor can detect the position and movement of a magnet in 3D space. It does this with 3 internal hall effect probes, one along each axis of the sensor. The hall probes measure magnetic flux density. This means if a magnet is attached to a slider, ball and socket or rotary shaft the position and movement of those mechanical components can be known in a system. A 3D magnetic sensor provides a contactless position sensing alternative to applications which traditionally use mechanical or optical solutions. The most common being a potentiometer.

Advantages:
- contactless sensing
- cost sensitive
- not sensitive to dirt
- tactile feeling can designed by mechanical interface
- higher range of motion compared to linear hall solution
- positioning between sensor and sliding interface is very flexible
- enables pass by configurations - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
I actually understood everything you were saying despite not know anything you were talking about
Great Vid!
Very cool product. It's unclear to me though how you would translate the movement of the magnet over the sensor into +/- X and Y coordinates. If the sensor is only detecting the mT from a single point, when the magnet is to the left or right of the sensor, for example, it would detect the same value, right?
all very clear, if I use it in joystick mode, I can get xy orbit movements as well as z axis movements.
If instead you wanted to rotate the stick while remaining with the z axis perpendicular.
How does it recognize the movement the magnet will have the south face above the chip?
You need to get in touch with a manufacturer to make console controllers with your magnetic joystick modules and you will be rewarded by millions of customers who are frustrated with the current potentiometers which wear out in 6 months. During the last 5yrs I have paid out more in new controllers than what my Xbox One X console cost me.
Nice Video
Hi. How translate xyz to proper calibrated xy position where max x = max y . For gimbal joystick. ??
Is it possible to combine the joystick and knob function? To get X Y Z
These applications seem pretty linear. What about non linear applications? If I put a 3d magnetic sensor on a object that passes through various magnets at 1cm distance between them but without that much linearity, then what?
how can you get the z axis of the joy stick with only one sensor?
The Hall effect sensor has three orthogonal probes each measuring the magnetic flux in the plane to which it is aligned.
Great 👍 Video very interesting.
In your video you mention that tactile feedback can be added to the joystick, by means of adding a spring. Would you be interested in creating a joystick for me . I would pay you . Let me know thanks .
