Happy to report for my driving in Hawaii, I get 259 miles on a full charge. The highest range I've recorded is 269 miles. I've had my First Edition i-Pace for about a month now. Aloha! ❤
Just an FYI. I had 4 cars (one Volvo v70 and 3 BMW5 combi’s) with pale interior and leather seats. I have kids and haul around quite some stuff for my job. Never had issues with them getting dirty. It’s leather, so easy to clean. And it gives so much more a feeling of space. If you like it, go for it, don’t let your practical concerns get in the way!
An excellent review from two well informed and educated people. Well balanced and obviously with great chemistry. Thank you for taking the time to share you honest thoughts. The production is also top class.
yet another great review; As always, I love the interaction and the views you both give on cars ! A big Belgian tumbs up; looking forward to the next review, greetz, Lisa
JLR have really done a great job brining this car to market so quickly.....every other (main stream) manufacturer are just dragging their feet. Had a test drive last week in the HSE spec. Would have it over the Tesla 100%. The good thing that people are missing here is...... there are now enough ev's for people to start having personal preference. On my test drive, had the extra Jag noise switched on, brilliant!
Kate and James, I love watching your channel. You always offer a well rounded view of the subject matter and throw in a bit of opinion without being totally biased. It was also enlightening to hear the baby add her commentary as well.
Love the glass roof in my Citroën C4 Cactus. The indicator noise is better in this Jag than my Cactus, it’s too quiet, lovely seeing Florence in your videos.
As an avid EV fan and a Tesla owner I really want the I-Pace to be a success and to be embraced by both JLR and the owners. This review had a promising start and a bit of a downer end. Remember, this is the expensive First Edition, better-priced options are to follow.
That's a fair shout, and yes there are cheaper options. I believe they're sold out for 18 months so it looking quite good for them. All that said, we have to be honest and unbiased. Still loves the car though
8:50 - My wife could not find a comfortable driver's seat position in the S. As you know, her legs are short too! Thanks for the excellent review. Jaguar living up to their reputation, despite the energy consumption. It's pretty good for a first attempt at an EV for general sale.
Nice to see you mentioned the quiet wipers, would be nice if you had commented on how effective they were, how much of the windscreen they kept clear, also little but important things, such as, how good were the door mirrors ect ect, it's these SMALL but IMPORTANT bits that most people leave out nowadays....
Great review... nice to hear a considered appraisal, warts and all... Supercharging and range/efficiency are the main reasons I will not be giving up my MS. You may not use the Superchargers often, but when you need them, you need them. I recently did a 1.3k road trip in Europe. I don’t think the IPace is ready for that yet.
Florence and the machine? Great review as always. I tested the car a few weeks ago and was very impressed by the build quality. However, I did find the instruments and controls a bit fussy and not easy to use. The one thing this car will have is a tow bar option due out soon.
I am really amazed at the range (or lack of) of the Jag. One of our vehicles is a BMW i3 with the 33KWh battery which gets approximately 140 miles around town (usually under 50 mph max). I just did an out and back highway trip of 120 miles at a steady 65 mph and still had 9 miles left in the battery (7% remaining on the Guess-o-Meter). As much as I really love the i3, I wouldn't consider it to be an extremely aero design, so what is the Jag's problem? Because of lack of charge points in the US, I still feel that the best option currently for long trips in the US is our 2014 Volt. By the time the Jag will be available in our area, I hope they have improved the range because I definitely would purchase one. Not a fan of the spartan interior of the M3 and the X is too big and not that great on range either. Love your reviews and James' "freezing" road tests. LOL...
What's interesting about this is the i-pace is basically a track car. lots of power quick but recharge times are slow. when this car you are driving comes down to a sensible price in 5 years, there will be much better cars with much longer range for less money. Nice to see Kate back giving her point of view and what seems to be a new 2 thumb gesture. it would be good to get an idea of battery loss leaving the cars unused foe 2 weeks, to see how well battery cars will deal with long periods of not beiing used.
I always enjoy your reviews, so natural and nice that you both have different perspectives. Just imagine what it will be like when Florence is old enough to voice an opinion? The efficiency seems to be the Achiles heel of this car. It also means that charging speed is effectively slower per mile than it should be. Otherwise I really like it but it really should be capable of a genuine 300 miles for the money. It makes the Kona look like an amazing bargain (OK not a luxury car but less than half the price and more capable for longer journeys). I'm keeping the Zoe until 300 miles for £20K is available and that seems further in the future than I was thinking when I bought it.
You can turn the "motor noise" on and off in the settings. It's a fake noise pumped in via the speakers. I've driven this car and it's eerily silent when the "dynamic" sounds are switched off.
"I'm just going to go with you." "Wise decision!" Another great video you two, and some better, more considered comments from Florence than Top Gear often managed! 😄
Also that noise you talk about can be turned off in the settings But the London tube regen sound still remains , also with the interior jag offer a synthetic material option more stylish than teslas
Great review. Very informative, although it’s 2022 when I am viewing this and the ipace has had some updates. I am thinking of buying a used HSE and don’t do long journeys. Something you said I think is probably true, that with the I pace when paying so much for a car you would feel you got value for money with the I pace, especially with the oyster leather seats. Also you get as standard a tracker fitted and emergency buttons and also if the airbags go off the emergency services are called with your location. But I loved your relaxed and objective review.
Nice Review! Very accurate and fair. I’m in Southern California and went to the local Jaguar dealer in Oxnard. One I-Pace was on the showroom floor and plugged into a type I 110-volt plug. Sitting in the vehicle I noticed it was at 100% charge and read 265 miles remaining. Don’t know exactly what that means, does the 110 slow charge work better then the type 2 faster charge? A beautiful car, looked it over and over, sat in all the seats. I’m 5’10” and found everyplace comfortable. The model was HSE and had the heads-up option, really nice for an old guy who needs all the advantages given. The second one was outside and had 22” wheels. Really couldn’t see the difference jumping out at me but didn’t like the $1,400 upgrade knowing the ride with the 20” was better. Got to ride in and drive one as well, nice. If you have solar and a powerwall 2 it almost free to use and who drives more then 200 miles in a day. If we do, we have two gas guzzlers that will get us throw the trip.
Quite like the iPace but having spent a couple of months in our Kona I would still go for the Kona. It's all about the rapids. Spending 45 minutes on a rapid is bearable on a longer trip but putting the same number of miles back in an iPace would be nearly double that and that's the deal-breaker. A widespread network of faster rapids would help but that's got to be 2 or 3 years away in the UK. Such a shame it's not very efficient. Good review thanks.
A model S with an I-Pace interior. Would that swing it, lol. I am concerned about the range but not a major issue. Another excellent review from you both. Thanks
The Model S was designed in the 2000’s. In people’s garages in 2012 (in California, at least). A truly complete redesign of the S, from a more financially secure Tesla, would be a much better car than the one you own.
If you were a couple without a child I'd say go for the Jag cause it def looks like a better choice for luxury and driving experience. But seems the car you own has more space and doesn't need too much care if your child spills or kicks a surface. Just a thought.
funny what you say about the zoe , my old clio mk 1 could accommodate so much stuff, my ENV only holds a third more and stuff moves around of course.....
I am due to have a TD in the i-Pace soon, but I suspect that the even with the air suspension in a Tesla is not as smooth and coomforting as that of the JLR product. My MX is noticeably more choppy and harsh riding than my 13 plate range rover that I swapped for the MX. The issue with the JLR is the range and JLRs ability to provide good aftersales care the way that Tesla has done. The main reason that I moved away from JLR was the shocking way in which I was treated as a customer having been a avid brand fan and ambassador. I eargerly await your review of the Audi e-tron :-)
Like all jags the price used will drop like a rock, give it a couple of years and it will be like the XF, cheaper than chips plus the low range for such a big battery will soon be a non starter
I think it's a great machine for their first car, I'd expect their next gen model to have the same peak performance but the economy of the Hyundai Kona.
I like all your reviews, nice to see you had different opinions about this car and it wasn't all about the size of the cup holders and how many there are. The fact that you have a Tesla Model S and a Zoe means that you can give a honest reviews unlike many biased motoring journalists such as on Carwow. . The cost of the Hyundai Kona EV went up the day I was going to place an order, so i didn't, I'm furious!!!
Sorry to hear about the Kona. It seems they have more demand than expected. Instead of making more cars, lets drive prices up and take advantage of people :-(
I know for a fact Hyundai have lost 3 sales of the Kona Electric by putting the price up. It's a pity that people don't stand together and don't buy when this happens.
That's a shame, as the Kona is excellent, but Hyundai weren't making a profit on the car before the price hike so maybe now they are. However, there are alternatives, and were almost at the point of changing, so many options, it's getting tough 🙄
Hans Kruse I had a base spec Model S for a week recently and it was amazing to be fair, even with 21” rims on. They’re quite different cars but I’d agree kate 😊⚡️🚗⚡️
We have recently driven one and although it's improved greatly it still a way behind the iPace. However, the gap is closing. I remember the classic MS interior was terrible, and now a few years later they're literally decades ahead. It won't be long before they're market leaders all round 🙏🏻
Great review, good work! Impressive design and engineering, but I just couldn't live with that terrible energy economy. It's not just the range, it's also the fact that it's since using more energy it will obviously take more time to charge at any given charging rate than a more efficient ev.
@John Weatherley This is correct, however, my point was charging an I-pace or a Tesla as the same rate will result in the Tesla getting more range since 1kW added to a Tesla will increase range by about 3 miles but the same energy added to an ipace will only give you about 2 miles. At most charging locations the ipace will currently be limited to 50kWh charging max, usually about 45kW in reality. It's true this will change in the future but the ionity super fast DC chargers are a long way off begin widely available.
John Weatherley jealous! Enjoy. Don't get me wrong; I do think it's a stunning vehicle, beautifully engineered. If it helps get more people into EV's that can only be a good thing. It's still the most efficient Jag ever made by a long way! Hopefully, it will push charging networks to deploy more rapid 'rapid' chargers.
Interestingly the iPace has been tested at 350kW charging speeds so, fingers crossed, this will happen in future revisions. If they could get the DC down some that would certainly help for sure. Glyn, love the camper, I want to convert one myself, I'm on the look out now 👍🏻
@@Jamesandkate Awesome! That will be a fun video. Let me know if you want any help. I've just published a bill of materials from my build which could be useful. Your welcome to borrow mine, shame we don't live closer. blog.zerocarbonadventures.co.uk/2018/10/electric-campervan-diy-conversion.html
Glyn, I don't agree with design and tech. The co-efficiency on this vehicle is horrible. Their tech is Tesla's yesterday tech. The newly design M3 motors and battery tech makes this car obsolete immediately. When the Y comes out, it's going to blow this car away.
The iPace has an artificial acceleration sound that can be toggled (like a Star Trek shuttle craft, if that helps). James clearly wants one, regardless. I find European (German mostly) cars tend to have overly complicated dashboards. The most intuitive I've seen was on a Kia.
The problem is not just the range so much as the time it will take to recharge a 90kWh battery at 50kW or especially at 10amps if you don't have a dedicated charger at a destination. 20 hours perhaps on the latter - certainly not overnight. We've given up when seeing an ipace on an ultracharger at 30% knowing it would be on for at least another 1h and then to only get 186 miles for that time investment seems very difficult to justify.
Thanx mate :) Keep up the good work you do for the UK community. You and Kate are more than welcome to Norway to drive my M3 when I get it :) @@Jamesandkate
Nice to know there are more cars to now chose from . And as for the range one draw back of a large battery / range is when you need to charge you will be sat a lot longer at the charger until 100kw chatters come on stream which will be a good while off yet.uncles that is you have a Tesla of course.
Kate in a t-shirt likes to use the heating in the seats and James in a wool sweater likes the ventilation more, go figure! 😂 Great review as usual, well balanced with a personal touch. One thing though ,was the artificial engine sound on or off? It sounded like it was on to me which would explain the regen noise.
Love your honest reviews James & Kate. Great watch as always. The funny thing is with the Jag. It’s less efficient and needs the supercharger network more than the actual Tesla does. I love the quality of the i-Pace. Sadly I’ve not driven one yet. But I will be sometime soon I’m sure. Can’t get enough of test driving EV’s. I like the ride height of the Jag but I love the upgradable software features with the Tesla. It’s a very tough decision as you say. A blend of both cars would be lovely in the ideal world. Let’s hope Tesla & Jag Watch this video and learn from it. Thanks again. PS Florence sounds so cute in the background hehe 🥰
Just to add. The poor efficiency would be a deal breaker for me. 180 to 220 (real world miles) out of a 90kwh pack is poor. It almost feels like all that extra cost of the battery is wasted. Feels to me more like the range of a 50kwh pack really.
Thanks Mark, it was a great episode to make and we genuinely had an awesome time with the car. However, like you said, the range is disappointing in the real world, the SC network would make that a non issue completely 👍🏻 I think Florence may be making a few more appearances, she quite popular it seems 😍
A much better driver's car. You will love it if you like driving. The extra downforce, wider tyres, steering weight and feel and stiffer chassis all make it worthwhile to get the most from the instant acceleration and traction. Safer too if you need to brake or change direction quickly. Like any more expensive car - you are paying for quality, looks and handling. If it were purely a decision from logic the Tesla would win. From the heart the jag would win. Most car enthusiasts choose from the heart. A to B drivers from the brain. That said, the higher voltage helps charging times. The I-pace does live updates to software as well as Tesla.
Wonder if the lower range was due to colder weather?? What was the average temp like the week you had the car?? Temperatures below 40 seems to reduce range by up to 30% on most EV's. Many of the other reviews on the I-Pace were done in warmer climates.
Not as good as the Kona for mileage, efficiency, but what a beautiful car just too expensive for me and the range what a pity.. still no doubt Jag will sort that out on the next generation. I’ll just have to stick with the Kona and dream.
The I-pace has a greater range by the same standard of testing, as it has a larger battery. It also charges faster at any station due to it being a higher voltage battery.
Great review folks. Thanks. I have to wonder what Jaguar have done to make the iPace so fuel hungry. It must be possible to improve the economy of the car. Seems like such a fundamental mistake with such a big battery.
A couple of issues Kate found we're. The car is designed to lower at high speeds to reduce drag but didn't, and the 22" rims are awful for range. Also the DC isn't amazing an until they reduce that front grill depth it's always going to struggle
@@Jamesandkate Doesn't air pass through the grille directed out of the bonnet revearse scoop and over the car? Perhaps it's not effective enough. 22 inch wheels though - we know from other EV's how bigger rims tend to negatively affect range. Are there smaller options available?
@John Weatherley John Weatherley are you sure Jaguar doesn't sold it as Tesla competitor? I wonder why they make a video about drag race against Model X 🤔
180 miles isn't great but not to bad either. The issue I have is if doing long distance you will only be charging to 80% which is 144 miles. Then you won't be running it down to 0% before needing to recharge so range would be even less than that
How does the real world range compare with your Model S? The recent WhatCar real range test which I think is completely wrong said the I-Pace was 253 miles and the Tesla Model S 75D was 203 miles. They only drove each 38.7 miles with a full charge and then extrapolated from there.
The i-Pace certainly has superior coachwork to the Telsa (I'm a Tesla fan and owner). I like the HUD, I hope Tesla adds that to newer models. I've seen the i-Pace here in the USA, really liked it.
Another great review guys. I think Jaguar need to do better. I'm not saying it won't sell, the demo-graph this is aimed at will probably have an S or X, and this will be used as a second car for the school run! It will be the new Chelsea Tractor. Most 'normal' buyers will just see £84K and sub 200 mile range and want more for the money, may be holding out for a high end Audi or Merc? Me? Well we are already a 2 EV household with only one more to go BUT, I need to tow over 2 tonne so will be holding out for a Bollinger B1 or equivelant.....(in my dreams). Seriously I can't go 100% EV until something like that is available.
I think Jag put in the noise in background because they are selling to combustion ice drivers and having some noise through speakers helps people feel like they are in a car rather than a train. iPace in London easier to park
If I were in charge of design I'd get rid of the grille, make the rear look less chopped off, and finally leave off some of the bells and whistles and strive for a more affordable price.
I liked the style of this review. The Jaguar is more of a conventional luxury car that should appeal to the greatest number of people. Personally, I prefer my Model 3, because I am more of a technology person. I love having almost everything controlled by the center screen, because Tesla can constantly improve and change whatever they want to. Many other people can't stand that center screen and they think that the car looks cheap without lot of buttons and screens. I would like to see Tesla offer more luxury features on their higher end models. I'd love it if Tesla offered cooled seats on the Model 3, but you have to move upmarket for that option. I don't even know if Tesla has brought back cooled seats, because they had problems with the leather wearing improperly with all of the perforations. Do you give any preference to cars built in England? I like to support local businesses, like Tesla, because I live only an hour from the Fremont factory.
As someone posted (bizarrely..!) in the UK Renault Zoe Facebook group after driving the iPace ..." Most importantly, it makes you realise that the Tesla is what happens when techies make a car. The iPace is what happens when a luxury car maker with 80 years of experience decides to apply all their Formula-E and aluminium engineering expertise to one of their cars."
I have to agree about the HUD issue. I drove mostly german cars for the last 15 years or so, and pretty much all of them (being in the BMW 5 market space or higher) had a head up display, and that is actually the biggest gripe i have about Tesla that they do not even offer that option. For crissakes, it is available on the smallest 3 series BMW. Considering there will be more options next year when the Model 3 arrives, and the Model 3 carries the problem of the general high price and 10% import tax and on top of that 19% VAT over here, it might not be competitive except its "Tesla appeal". I don't drive long distances, the longest would be probably just within the range of the iPace, everything longer is a plane ride instead. So the high consumption really doesn't bother me that much. But then, it's gonna be a busy test drive year i guess.
You both talk abit about motor noise - did you have the simulated noise turned on or off? I suspect you had it on. This is in the menus. It’s a bit cheesy, but fun I think.
Thank you for your unbiased review. Because the i-pace is an SUV, do you think the Model X is a better comparison and if so which would choose? To be honest I'm not worried about the comparison as I believe it's more important to get car makers to start building EV's. If it wasn't for Tesla would Jag have created the i-pace or Audi built the e-tron? Cheers ☺️
Glenn Moloney Having being in both The iPace is more like a Range Rover Evoke/Velar size where as the Model X is bigger than the Full size Range Rover and has even more storage and more seats so they’re very different beasts. I’m terms of higher seating they’re similar but in terms of size and practically the iPace is more on par with the Model 3 as it is smaller than the S.
The sort of customers that are going to be drawn to the jag in our area I think will be older customers. My concern is the difference between claimed range and actual as this will play in to the hands of the EV non believers. There is something going on with those two motors causing that inefficiency but will jag have any want to sort it out?
Nice T-shirt Kate, but I would suggest the Tes.. Because you can spot it and say it is an EV,but the I-Pace is beautiful and quality good but I can't seem to spot it and say "that's an EV " I think the front grill has to go and get smaller like EV have, but in all well done and keep up the good reviews on EV's ,but it still is a beautiful car.
@@Jamesandkate Certainly not my thing either. I just wondered whether that was accounting for the noise. Luxury car makers have spent decades trying to eliminate noise from the experience. The last thing I'd want to do it reintroduce some. 😎
If you have time watch the Bjorn Nyland on the testing of Jaguar I-Pace. He's basically saying that the I-Pace is not as efficient as a Tesla by a lot as it should be. He's hoping a software update will fix the problem. I personally think if you take all those luxury features out which are too heavy would improve some of the efficiency. I still like the Model X better. Nice to see Florence. She's looking too adorable.
Guys your forgetting 1 important thing Tesla announced that all U.K. /Europe superchargers will move over to ccs to supercharge speeds will be available to other second gen ccs cars, also you didn’t mention that the car lacks anything to block the sunlight from the fixed glass roof, and rear visibility is really poor for reversing, you heavily reliant on the 360 cam and sound sensors
Good shout, although the roof is tinted. We were going to mention the rear wiper but the S doesn't have one and causes us no issues and the rear visibility isn't actually that bad. It's not the best, but I've definitely seen loads worse. The Model X being a good example. I'm not sure these will ever be hooked up to a Tesla SC, but I'd be happy for that to happen, it would be a decoy move forward for the industry and for Jag we feel 👍🏻
When in comes that close in choice I would go British every time. Another little point is that I dont think this car is really aimed at a young family, ie with babies. Great balanced review.
Lovely review for the i Pace. Things I do not like when I test drive it 4 weeks ago: there is No TowBar option. The initial delayed on Quick acceleration off at the junction. the window switches look very cheap plastic. Very small viewing area for the 360 cams. No Sunblinds for the panoramic roof. Almost £80K .I bought the Volvo XC90 T8 instead.
Tow bar available in some countries as an option. Not sure if you can see this link to the iPace Facebook group..? facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=443560602843304&set=p.443560602843304&type=3&theater&ifg=1
So is 186 from like Rome to Reggio Calabria?? How about the Audi E-Tron?? It's rather funny because the new smart EQ gets 140 miles and it's a micro car lol
It's a great video ngl, but why does jaguar let everyone review an i-pace while they STRUGGLE to deliver them to actual buyers. My dad's i-pace for example was 3 weeks late! And my dad's colleague's jaguar i-pace still hasn't showed up, so that's about 7 weeks now?

You may not use the Superchargers often, but when you need them, you need them. I recently did a 1.3k road trip in Europe. I don’t think the IPace is ready for that yet.
Agreed. We've been round Europe in our S and it was faultless and unplanned, the way it should be.
I loved the video, I'm going to get my Ipace tomorrow I'm super excited, thanks for this video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
As I'm sure others have commented by now, the noise is generated by the sound system. You can turn it up and you can turn it off.

We actually call her that too 😁 😂😂😂
No mention of the (slightly) higher seat position/viewpoint/visibility - am I the only person that thinks this makes for a better drive?
To be honest it wasn't that apparent to us. I have regular access to an iPace so I'll nip back and have a look 👍🏻
@@Jamesandkate I just assume it's taller as it's labelled as an SUV ...... ?

Thanks for your comments, we'll look in to that for a future episode 👍🏻
Thanks Robert 😁 actually, the Zoe 41 is a very very good deal currently. Possibly the best available for your money so a good choice indeed.
You can turn the "motor noise" on and off in the settings. It's a fake noise pumped in via the speakers. I've driven this car and it's eerily silent when the "dynamic" sounds are switched off.
"I'm just going to go with you."
"Wise decision!"
Another great video you two, and some better, more considered comments from Florence than Top Gear often managed! 😄
I know my place John 😂😂😂
Also that noise you talk about can be turned off in the settings But the London tube regen sound still remains , also with the interior jag offer a synthetic material option more stylish than teslas
We had the noise off all the way through. This is all motor whine 😕
I like the sound too Kate you are not alone. Sounds cool
Thank you, great minds think alike 😁
You have reminded me to buy a Lotto ticket - need I say more
A model S with an I-Pace interior. Would that swing it, lol. I am concerned about the range but not a major issue. Another excellent review from you both. Thanks
That would work for us without doubt 😁👍🏻 glad you liked it
The Model S was designed in the 2000’s. In people’s garages in 2012 (in California, at least). A truly complete redesign of the S, from a more financially secure Tesla, would be a much better car than the one you own.
I'd go with that. I. Hoping the Model 3 will be that car 🙏🏻
Kate, Great honest review of the jaguar I pace on the net, especially being as I believe James works for Jaguar.
This is actually a great review, thank you for making this video
I am due to have a TD in the i-Pace soon, but I suspect that the even with the air suspension in a Tesla is not as smooth and coomforting as that of the JLR product. My MX is noticeably more choppy and harsh riding than my 13 plate range rover that I swapped for the MX. The issue with the JLR is the range and JLRs ability to provide good aftersales care the way that Tesla has done. The main reason that I moved away from JLR was the shocking way in which I was treated as a customer having been a avid brand fan and ambassador. I eargerly await your review of the Audi e-tron :-)
I think you're probably right, the ride was absolutely first class, despite the weight. I hope they treat you better this time around 🙏🏻
Like all jags the price used will drop like a rock, give it a couple of years and it will be like the XF, cheaper than chips plus the low range for such a big battery will soon be a non starter
Good shout, second hand is where its at for sure 👍🏻
The Tesla S would be our choice as it is more elegant and spacious, it has the range advantage too.
@John W Yes I find hard to believe that they did not make a profit. I've given up on my idea of buying a Kona Electric, it IS now TOO EXPENSIVE.
nice review guys and no you can't beat the Zoe :)
You could review a brand new model S75. It’s quite a stepup from an older S I think.
The s75 has long been discontinued
Maybe the 'transmission tunnel' is simply to add chassis stiffness?
Completely understand your point and you're quite right. Sadly 😕
@@Jamesandkate super review btw. You always uncover something I haven't seen elsewhere. Discussion of car seats, roof height - spot on.
Wonderfully "down to Earth" considerations in the review!
I just order my first Model3 in Norway, do have a referral code to offer?
Certainly do ts.la/james1782
Thanx mate :)
Keep up the good work you do for the UK community.
You and Kate are more than welcome to Norway to drive my M3 when I get it :)
@@Jamesandkate
Nice to know there are more cars to now chose from . And as for the range one draw back of a large battery / range is when you need to charge you will be sat a lot longer at the charger until 100kw chatters come on stream which will be a good while off yet.uncles that is you have a Tesla of course.
Kate in a t-shirt likes to use the heating in the seats and James in a wool sweater likes the ventilation more, go figure! 😂 Great review as usual, well balanced with a personal touch. One thing though ,was the artificial engine sound on or off? It sounded like it was on to me which would explain the regen noise.
As mentioned it was switched off for the whole review
Ok, must be its inner cat making the sounds then 😺
Great video guys. Do you think a comparison with an S is the best option? What about an X 75D? Or ex demo 90D 😬
Ok, bring it down 😂😂😂
Love your honest reviews James & Kate.
Excellent review. Good to see more EV models coming into the market
Not as good as the Kona for mileage, efficiency, but what a beautiful car just too expensive for me and the range what a pity.. still no doubt Jag will sort that out on the next generation. I’ll just have to stick with the Kona and dream.
The iPace is larger than the Kona, so it'll be interesting how the imminent Niro competes on comfort and space.
The I-pace has a greater range by the same standard of testing, as it has a larger battery. It also charges faster at any station due to it being a higher voltage battery.
I'm guessing the "noise" you referred to is the simulated motor noise? I wish they would let you turn it off.
Great review folks. Thanks.
I have to wonder what Jaguar have done to make the iPace so fuel hungry. It must be possible to improve the economy of the car. Seems like such a fundamental mistake with such a big battery.
@John Weatherley I hope that you are right John. Jaguar needs to ensure that the iPace can compete with the Audi and Mercedes models coming soon.
@John Weatherley th-cam.com/video/fErFiWjoeCQ/w-d-xo.html
I do miss the HUD and I'd really like ventilated seats. I didn't realise how well they worked and how much more efficient they are 👍🏻
@@Jamesandkate Did you notice how well the headlights worked with their new matrix system to distribute the light without dazzling oncoming vehicles?
Thank you. Just hold that thought, we have something in the pipeline that may fit the bill 😁👍🏻
That's a very accurate statement. Two completely different EV's sharing the same fuel 🤔
A quick technical question... do you have your camera set to 30fps? Are you editing at 25fps? It keeps jumping when watching.
No we don't, but we have had a few issues with one of our cameras, well revert to the Panasonic until we get to the bottom of it, apologies 😕
James and Kate no apology needed. It happens quite often with a lot of youtubers and my tv makes it really obvious.
Good luck 👍😁
How much would your trip to Strathy cost in that? I suspect the cost would add up at Ecotricity.
A bit late watching this! Great video very balanced views as ever.
May I ask, 1 Year on.... what would you choose now???
You both talk abit about motor noise - did you have the simulated noise turned on or off? I suspect you had it on. This is in the menus. It’s a bit cheesy, but fun I think.
Great video and the car looks ace. I can’t wait to drive one- if only I knew someone who works for JLR😂
😂😂😂 if the Orkney thing ever comes off we'll bring one up for you El 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it 😁👍🏻
White seats. Tip: . Get them ceramic coated. Makes them resistant to most everything, especially small children. :)
This is a case of........Florence and the ( ultimate ) machine.
Hey, you didn't have the fake engine noise option dialled in? 😎
Yeah, I think that was the problem. You can deactivate fake engine noise if you feel XXI century has really really arrived ;-)
We did have it switched off, just isn't our thing. Sorry 😕
@@Jamesandkate Certainly not my thing either. I just wondered whether that was accounting for the noise. Luxury car makers have spent decades trying to eliminate noise from the experience. The last thing I'd want to do it reintroduce some. 😎
Love the interior, not enormous , but if you can go 50 miles more just alone seems amazing
HI James And Kate you keep mentioning your S but what car car are you talking about. Tesla model S ?
I had a test drive in the I-Pace last week and I have been driving a Tesla Model S for one year now (16,000 miles) Tesla wins by miles
Did your iPace have the software update to improve the range..?
No it didn't, it's in on Wednesday for exactly that.
James and Kate looking forward to finding out what improvement it makes to the range.
Does this come with the grant?
This one did yes £4500
The sunroof uses cunning glass-tech, to avoid needing a shade.
Tow bar is available here and the delay on acceleration has been cured with a software uodate. 80k - I agree 😕
So is 186 from like Rome to Reggio Calabria?? How about the Audi E-Tron?? It's rather funny because the new smart EQ gets 140 miles and it's a micro car lol
Is the I-pace considered an SUV?
I think it was compared to the Model X but it's just no where near as big. It a slightly higher floored family hatchback imo
186 miles is 300 km -- maybe has there been a 'lost in translation' problem when the range was communicated?!
The Model 3 AWD is quite noisy as well. You hear the motor whine more than other EV's
Autopilot has to be the deal maker for a Tesla, great review by the way!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Built from scratch and they STILL put in tiny little rear windows with HUGE blind spots... sigh...
