I get what you're saying but when you are adapting a series that's based on a comic book or graphic novel some things are going to change you can just take everything from a book and put it into a movie or TV series it doesn't always work like that sometimes you're going to have to change characters or settings

@@SimeonJester it's important to stick to the source material your right but at the same time there is no such thing as a one hundred percent accurate of the source material true that Nate has changed very different from the comics whether that's a good or a bad thing depends on how people feel about that but most importantly how does the creator of Big Nate feels about it. Besides there are a lot of TV shows and movies based on graphic novels that remain faithful to the source material but at the same time I did change a few things
As someone who became a fan of the strips (not really the novels I only have a few), I gotta say it’s easier to take in the show if you treat it as like an alternate timeline/ universe, I still enjoy the show and I very much like the moments where in the background shots there’s moments of the trio just being stupid and hanging out but if you compare it to the actual strips/novel versions it’s pretty infuriating how the show interpreted the characters. I actually had more of a problem with DeeDee, she’s is a theater kid who is very passionate in acting and her arts, yes, but the way the show portrayed her is that she is capable of doing EVERYTHING that comes her way and that’s not it. Students and teachers cant tolerate her because she’s way too into acting and is over dramatic when she doesn’t need to be. She’s like the emotional standpoint of problems, but the way the show made her is that she is just good at everything and is more capable than the trio. I also really despise the way they went about writing Francis, Francis has nerdy traits but he is not the stereotypical nerd in the strips or novels, he can catch up to Nate and Teddy and isn’t physically incapable or weak, he literally partakes sports alongside Teddy and Nate to show this. The reason why I like Francis so much as a character because he managed to break the nerd stereotype but still keep it? Yes, he keeps this trivia book wherever he goes, knows the most useless information just because he thinks it’s fun learning it, and is just more logical/academically smart. But he literally joins in on banter and shows a more snarky/sarcastic side where he isn’t afraid to put his input in situations Nate comes up with. The trio is the literal definition of a friend group that consists of stupid middle school boys, and that’s how they’re supposed to be and Peirce did such a good job at showing that? To see Francis’ character butchered to pieces like this and see him fall into the “I’m scared of everything and I get nauseous at things that make me nervous” was such a disappointment to see. But other than characters falling into tropes and feeling out of character the show is generally funny and I’m glad that Peirce is able to have some input into the show’s writing as well that’s fun to see
I can understand what this shows going for, and respect that it’s trying it’s own thing. But, for me, I just don’t care for any more of these over the top cartoons with this sort of humour, funny or not. I just want more of that grounded humour that makes use of character traits,l and flaws, while keeping a layer of humanity there that makes you care more about said characters. I remembered so much of why I loved Big Nate through this video, so thanks again for bringing me back to my childhood. (I say again since you did the same with your Middle School video years back.)
I really liked big nate as a kid, moreso than diary of a wimpy kid. I think it was my first time experiencing and understanding complex characters. Nate was somewhat of a trouble maker and wasn't always great in school, but i will forever remember the scene where nate gathered all his friends to defend chad from getting bullied, or when deedee started out as the annoying drama girl and ended up being a good friend to nate. Having a character being bad at one thing and good at another blew my little 10-year-old mind. Love the series and love this video!
Used to be a massive Big Nate fan when I was younger... this vid pretty much covered everything I felt about the show. I watched the clips on Nickelodeon's channel and it's definitely not _terrible_ , in fact I actually like the art style and thought some moments had pretty good writing/pacing. But it just feels like a completely different show that happens to be using the characters from Big Nate. Loved the comic because of its unique sense of humor (which even inspired mine to an extent), so when I saw that the show completely lacked that same charm I knew it wasn't for me.
About the plot where Nate became a writer: there was a plot in the comics where he wanted to write a romance novel because he heard they make a lot of money. It could have been a good reference
All I know about the show beforehand is that Randy’s voice sucks, and that there’s a lot of big Nate is sussy moments, so this should help figure out what the show is like
Oh I remember playing the Big Nate Poptropica Island and reading the books long ago. Man that takes me back. Also the allusion to Diary of a Wimpy Kid makes me want to see you do a video on the fanfics by the subreddit r/LodedDiper
I loved this book so much I even made my own little comic of where everyone in the school was gone other than his 3 Friends and they went and explored the school for clues it was such a blast and this video is nostalgia
As a Big Fan of the Big Nate Comic Series(No pun intended) I feel the Cartoon is pretty faithful to the characters like Dee Dee and Nate himself he’s cocky but has a Good Heart like in the comics and I like how Nate’s family get’s expanded on more in the show. And yeah sure not all the jokes land and can be a bit weird. I can appreciate the show for being it’s own thing while not being boring like the wimpy Kid cartoon
The only negative to the animation is the eyes. Unless they are wearing glasses, it looks really off for how the characters have googly eyes, and I prefer the plain pupils of the original.
I haven't read the Series of Unfortunate Events so I don't know if the show stays true to books, but I really love the show and I think it was well written
I still need to read the books but the A Series of Unfortunate Events show is awesome, it breaks the forth wall in ways I’d never seen before and are hard to explain. Except for the Baudelaires, The entire story is constantly making fun of literally every single character and their ideas at every possible moment (with a few exceptions for some characters at some points).
Something I've always loved about Pierre's style of drawing for Big Nate, was the expressions, especially the trademark 'Annoyed Squint' they were so cartoonist and exaggerated and for the tone of the series so well, it played a part in why the comedy hits as hard as it does. It's a shame the show felt like the writers saw those expressions and went "Oh that's the whole series, I know what we can do!"
EXACTLY. Adapting a series such as illustrious and utterly Brobdingnagian as Massive Nathaniel will most likely have some challenges along the way, cheers for being optimistic
Nate in the TV Show is actually more faithful to the comics, where he was more of an absent-minded idiot and an active nuisance. The novel books actually made Nate much more chill. In the novels, he is the straight-man who makes jokes at other's expense rather than the idiot. And he is more unlucky rather than an active troublemaker.
Happy 18th birthday Just Stop, Congrats for becoming a grown adult, The fact that you watched Santa, Inc. and Rick and Morty as a minor is slighty bizarre but very relatable with ages, The guy has a soul of steel.

I remember wanting to read Big Nate, but I missed the first book released in 2010, and instead started off with the Sequal Big Nate Strikes Again, thinking it was the first book in the series
Honestly rodrick rules might be the perfect adaptation just because I already know that the new movies are going for this mean spirited stick to make Greg quote on quote relatable
@@carlacarrero4975 i definetely think that the characters were not as likeable in the wimpy kid books as in big nate. I read the two series and i was constantly in laughter and in chill with the chaos of big nate. Even so the characters in that book felt so full of life and full of traits. The story was very spicy and i like also how there are important new characters in each book while still keeping the old ones. With the wimpy kid i felt kind of... bored?? The characters were more annoying to me than likeable even though a character with flaws can be likeable. There werent many memorable chatacters outside of the heffley family and rowley. While in the movies they took the secondary roles and gave them greater purpoise as well as giving them back. Also the movies had satifying endings. With character development and stuff that would never happen in the books. For example.. we have so far 16 books of the wimpy kid and greg still hasnt made good interaction with any girl. Does anyone remember holly hills in the books? Her character did absolutely nothing other than just stand there and be the "popular girl". In the movies there was relationship development between holly and greg and in the end they even become a couple. And the books still follow around the same pattern everything goes wrong for greg and in the end nothing particularly great happens other than things going back to how they were at the start. Same book every pattern.. and its filled with secondary characters that play a minor role and then disappear.
@@thatanimegirlwiththecape4807 that's an interesting take but Holly hill isn't supposed to be a character with development she's literally exist to show how Greg is a wimp who will never date girls and that some people just won't date that's literally it and it makes sense since the books are literally just a diary told from the perspective of a child that lacks self awareness but having some character development would be cool and if you ask me I think the mom is the most annoying character if them all especially in the live action the long road movie
Personally I feel that if the show were to do the strips and novels, they should try and split the episodes into novel only and strip only, as trying to fit some of the strips and their plotlines into the story would just create a lot of tonal whiplash. There also comes the issue on how varied the strips are in scale of time, so giving the strips their own dedicated episodes mean you might be able to work around those time constraints easily
I love the show mainly because I grew up with the books/comics. But I will admit the show does have some flaws sometimes the jokes don't land but over all it's still a good adaptation from the books and comics. Big Nate the show is good from the art, music, characters, and voice acting it's pretty good 8/10.
In my honest opinion, the show looks decent enough, but would have been better if it were either animated in 2D or released in 2003 instead of the 2020's
I love cheese doodles, only reason i got into them was big nate. Funny enough in florida, my school passes big nate as an actual book instead of a series of comics.
I'm getting major flashbacks of having main character syndrome in elementary thru middle school due to these books. They were fun to read, but it was before I could develop my own personality. So, that's something I gotta live with remembering.
Big Nate is a pretty unique comic with many layers. In order to properly adapt it, you need to actually READ a lot of them. Obviously these people didn’t do that, somehow considering how the creator was onboard.
In the show it feels like Nate wants to be like George Beard or Harold Hutches from Captain Underpants. Unlike Big Nate Captain Underpants is one the greatest adaptation for a film.
Big Nate was that book series I read growing up, and I thought they were pretty enjoyable, so seeing what series was like was certainly a fascinating experience .
Hearing you describe how you’d do a big Nate show, I think you would enjoy an anime called Lucky Star. It is paced exactly as you said, with a mostly big narrative each episode that does feel like it is a lot like the manga it’s based on, with some moments of the smaller 4 panel comics thrown in, that do also tie into the bigger narrative. I think it’s honestly extremely good the way they did it, and if it could work for that, it could easily work just as well for big Nate
Always been a big fan of Big Nate as well. I definitely do agree with what you said about it being a bit disappointing that a lot of the adult characters were changed, and how the show is a bit more exaggerated than the source material. Besides that, I think it's great so far. I'm especially impressed with how GOOD IT LOOKS! Like I was scared about it being 3D, especially with Nate's hair, but they made it work and I think that's amazing. It looks so good.
Ya know, I’m only now hearing about the Big Nate TV Show because of your video, and I only have one suggestion: The animation art style genuinely freaks me out a little. Plus, it doesn’t have the same or similar “aesthetic” like the original. I believe the best way they could’ve handled was to do something like the Captain Underpants movie, as the movie is more appealing and has the comics have a similar art style with Big Nate. Not having to have a movie budget, but something similar (Also I can’t even look at the video footage, it’s too freaky for me-)
The thing for me is it just seems too different. I grew up with the graphic novels and comics, and the reason I loved them so much was their entertaining slice of life plots, the realistic characters, and the comedy. The comics specifically were just so cleverly written and I love them, especially since the characters felt like real people. The show just seems to be another generic kids' cartoon to me, barely faithful to the source material. idk if I will check it out.
It's honestly sad how much more cinematic and beautiful this show looks compared to the diary of a wimpy kid animated MOVIE adaptation Why does a literal SHOW look more like a movie than the doawk MOVIE?
I've been waiting for a TV show of Big Nate FOR YEARS! Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to see a cartoon or TV adaptation, but in 2D. Instead we got 3D which is fine, but if this is going to be an adaptation of the book series, I think 2D wouldve worked. Oddly enough the animation for the show is better than the Disney Diary of a Wimpy Kid Movie remake.
There was originally going to be a 2D animated series based on Big Nate for NBC's morning block, with the creator of the comics being offered by Lee Mendelson of Peanuts back when it first appeared on newspapers in 1991, but unfortunately, many, if not all, of their Saturday morning cartoons got canned by the network which led to the animated series being in development hell for almost 30 years.
Honestly Big Nate is still going strong, after the graphic novel ended, some things carried over to the comics, like dee dee, and Nate no longer hating Jenny, making Jenny more then a 2d love interest, adding a bit of character, with out losing to much of the prior comedy from said lone interest plot
It reminds me of how the Captain Underpants movie adapted the books. Quite a few changes but still enjoyable as someone who loved the books. Also please don’t say it’s like the Middle School movies. The actual Middle School books were suprisingly dark while the movie was pure stupidity.
I'm not familiar with the Big Nate books, so I guess I didn't have a lot of those problems you have and enjoyed it overall. The shorts really did a disservice to the actual show's reputation. I guess they had a lot of money spent into it, since they even got Jack Black as a guest voice actor and use licensed music a lot.
The fact that after they changed the name of cheesy poofs Lincoln Pierce ACTUALLY made a comic where deedee asks how cheesy poofs and cheese curls are diffrent
So basically it's a good show if you've never checked out the source material but it's lackluster if you've followed the source material. Is that the best way to look at it?
Kinda glad I never read any of the Big Nate stories so I can watch this show and admire the animation without nitpicking or feeling like I'm missing something. I'd still love to give the comics a try too, of course.
Sounds like a Catscratch situation: Its an adaptation of a comic that BLATANTLY ignores the source material but what it does is so strangely different that it doesnt even feel like an adaptation.
Let's just hope and pray that studios never get their hands on Foxtrot. Thank goodness Bill Watterson was smart enough not to sell out Calvin and Hobbes.
This show feels like it was initially written as an entirely different series with actual competency but nick told them to make every character from big nate
I've literally never heard of this comic before, but my nickname at work was Big Nate for a while so I have to wonder if my manager was familiar with it. I do know my other nickname of Nate Dawg was based on some C-list rapper.
Well this is a trip! I remember reading this back in highschool, my fav book was the one with the overarching plot of the sports game. So I didn't know this was even coming out, guess the universe was trying to shield me
I only read maybe the first 3 Big Nate novels back in elementary and because I didn't have that big of a connection, but the one thing that threw me off was the voices. Idk how I imagined them way back when, but it wasn't like how they are now. I appreciate that explanation for animating on 1s, 2s, and 3s. Even though I've seen many people explain it over the years, this is the first time I feel it actually made sense. The spiderman frame by frame really helped
It would’ve been nice if Nate talked to the camera because he’s THAT full of enough that he believes that someone would make a tv show of his life, with the rest of the cast poking fun at him.
I grew up on these comics, even though my emetophobia will most likely stop me from seeing the show, my hope for it to flourish into what the comics have built up to isn't going to stop.
Feels like people who made this show were big fans of those Netflix Captain Underpants cartoons, THEY ARE GOOD but the comics do seem more like something that are a more calming and chill read. Not something that makes you laugh or have your heart beat from the events happening.
Nate has always kinda struck me as a kid with undiagnosed ADHD and I think that’s why a lot of people I know who later got diagnosed (including myself) related to him so much.

That's like if peter Jackson decided to make Gandalf all silly and stupid because he thought that would fit his movies better - you gotta stick to the source material - you can't just pick and choose which characters change completely and which ones stay the same.
But other than characters falling into tropes and feeling out of character the show is generally funny and I’m glad that Peirce is able to have some input into the show’s writing as well that’s fun to see
Pierce also draws the comic strips at the end of each episodes, which I thought was a nice touch.
I feel the same way. I enjoyed the show but as a fan of the comic / graphic novels I felt they butchered some of the characters too
Ok
"I'm scared of everything and I get nauseous at things that make me nervous." That's Filbert from Rocko's Modern Life not Francis.
I mean to be fair there are only like a couple of episodes maybe they’ll show more of that dynamic
The show did a really good job adapting the characters, but there are clear flaws about the show tho
I’m just glad they didn’t do the whole middle school worst years of my life movie thing
But still I see many uncomfortable scenes •~•
The Big Nate novels are some of the best storytelling and heartwarming I've seen in a kids' novel.
They aren't graphic novels btw
How do you mess up Principal Nicolas? He's one of the most chill adults at the school. He only gets mad at Nate when absolutely necessary.
To be fair, he IS in a state of utter mental stability at that moment
That doesn’t really change in the show either. He’s wackier and louder, but he isn’t out to get Nate either unless he does something bad.
@@GamerSlyRatchet1 That's still out of character. He's the chill principal, not the loud bombastic trying to be hip principal he's portrayed as
He’s an eye roller not a get mad type
He’s still one of my favorite characters in the show
I can understand what this shows going for, and respect that it’s trying it’s own thing.
Yes! i agree with every word that has been said
To be honest, the trailer made me question why I'd ever liked Big Nate if THIS was what it was. I appreciate the reminder of what it was too!
Watching this makes me realize how really well written Big Nate was
I really liked big nate as a kid, moreso than diary of a wimpy kid.
Loved the comic because of its unique sense of humor (which even inspired mine to an extent), so when I saw that the show completely lacked that same charm I knew it wasn't for me.
craig? what the hell?
OMFGGGGG GD COLON IS A BIG NATE FAN🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💅
I love gd cologne
Didn't know colon likes big nate
About the plot where Nate became a writer: there was a plot in the comics where he wanted to write a romance novel because he heard they make a lot of money. It could have been a good reference
All I know about the show beforehand is that Randy’s voice sucks, and that there’s a lot of big Nate is sussy moments, so this should help figure out what the show is like
I honestly find his voice hilarious. It reminds me of the squeaky-voiced teenager from The Simpsons.
Randy’s voice is meant to suck. It’s to make the audience hate Randy more and feel more cringe about him.
That sounds so cool! 👏👏👏 I would’ve LOVED to read something like that!
I completely agree with you on your points.
@@mediamuncher6982 I appreciate it😁

@@smackaroossmackamack5588 thx u
Oh yeah I'm so happy this is had way more heart put into it and is 100% better than the wimpy kid cartoon
The only negative to the animation is the eyes. Unless they are wearing glasses, it looks really off for how the characters have googly eyes, and I prefer the plain pupils of the original.
I really hope, if he hasn't already, does a episode on the Netflix and Movie adaptations of A Series of Unfortunate Events.
That would be cool
I haven't read the book so I don't know how good it is at adaptation though it's a pretty good show that needs recognition
It's a shame the show felt like the writers saw those expressions and went
"Oh that's the whole series, I know what we can do!"
Maybe it’s a clone wars situation where the writers are just trying to get into the flow of these stories at it gets better overtime.
EXACTLY. Adapting a series such as illustrious and utterly Brobdingnagian as Massive Nathaniel will most likely have some challenges along the way, cheers for being optimistic
yeah i think the show has potential, it doesn't seem to be fundamentally broken. a lot of just stop's issues are fixable
“Bad adaptation, good show.”
You know, there’s another animated show that can be described like this: Wayside.
I wish they never made this tbh i liked it better as just a book and comic but im happy peirce is getting more recognition for the things he did
Nate in the TV Show is actually more faithful to the comics, where he was more of an absent-minded idiot and an active nuisance.
The novel books actually made Nate much more chill. In the novels, he is the straight-man who makes jokes at other's expense rather than the idiot. And he is more unlucky rather than an active troublemaker.
The narrating in the diary of the wimpy kid movie was done well in my opinion, so it would definitely work here
The whole point of the narration was to show Greg’s ego and perspective and to add charm
Happy 18th birthday Just Stop, Congrats for becoming a grown adult, The fact that you watched Santa, Inc. and Rick and Morty as a minor is slighty bizarre but very relatable with ages, The guy has a soul of steel.
Bruh, Rick and Marty is super popular among minors. I know middle schoolers who love it.
Me and Just Stop are the same age, and depending on the month he was born, I might be older than him, and all I do is watch TH-cam and comment on videos.
I remember wanting to read Big Nate, but I missed the first book released in 2010, and instead started off with the Sequal Big Nate Strikes Again, thinking it was the first book in the series
I really enjoyed the Big Nate books more than Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Diary of a Wimpy Kid just felt really mean spirited and cynical in comparison.
Honestly rodrick rules might be the perfect adaptation just because I already know that the new movies are going for this mean spirited stick to make Greg quote on quote relatable
@@carlacarrero4975 correct
100% agree.
Love the books as a kid. And I actually like the show.
The fucking “OW MY STERNUM” made me fucking die laughing the first time I heard it, the voice actor actually killed it with that
Personally I feel that if the show were to do the strips and novels, they should try and split the episodes into novel only and strip only, as trying to fit some of the strips and their plotlines into the story would just create a lot of tonal whiplash.
Exactly.
I honestly wish they went with the more simple eyes from the comic, the new ones feel kinda off for me
Why are most cartoons obsessed of being 3D
all big nate graphic novels were amazing and all went through different issues it was amazing. I want one with him in high school so bad
I love cheese doodles, only reason i got into them was big nate. Funny enough in florida, my school passes big nate as an actual book instead of a series of comics.
“Ms. Shipulski, the school secretary could also have more screen time”
*Shows image of Mrs. Czerwicki*
Idk why, but your new avatar has the Randy Cunningham the ninth grade ninja vibe to it and i really dig it!
Money.
In the show it feels like Nate wants to be like George Beard or Harold Hutches from Captain Underpants. Unlike Big Nate Captain Underpants is one the greatest adaptation for a film.
Finally, someone who truly understands Big Nate. This is my childhood. The show sort of missed the point of what big Nate is
It’s literally the worst adaptation 10-13 year old me is pissed off
Big Nate was that book series I read growing up, and I thought they were pretty enjoyable, so seeing what series was like was certainly a fascinating experience .
I kinda miss Ruby, the one from the last graphic novel, she's cool to me
Man, you REALLY made me appreciate the comic and books more.
Ya know, I’m only now hearing about the Big Nate TV Show because of your video, and I only have one suggestion:
The animation art style genuinely freaks me out a little. Plus, it doesn’t have the same or similar “aesthetic” like the original. I believe the best way they could’ve handled was to do something like the Captain Underpants movie, as the movie is more appealing and has the comics have a similar art style with Big Nate. Not having to have a movie budget, but something similar
(Also I can’t even look at the video footage, it’s too freaky for me-)
Big Nate was always one of my favorite comics when I was younger.
At least it isn’t live action, like almost every other reboot nowadays
The animation reminds me of the 8-bit characters from Wreck It Ralph
It's honestly sad how much more cinematic and beautiful this show looks compared to the diary of a wimpy kid animated MOVIE adaptation
Why does a literal SHOW look more like a movie than the doawk MOVIE?
I lived and breathed Big Nate in Elementary school. Gotta revisit these some time soon.
I was a HUGE big Nate fan and when i heard of the show i was really exited, but then i saw the trailer...
After cboyardee's magnum opus "Dilbert 3", I don't think I could ever forget Dilbert
Glad to see you enjoying a show and having nice things to talk about. And some interesting animation trivia.
Honestly Big Nate is still going strong, after the graphic novel ended, some things carried over to the comics, like dee dee, and Nate no longer hating Jenny, making Jenny more then a 2d love interest, adding a bit of character, with out losing to much of the prior comedy from said lone interest plot
I think this is a better adaptation than the Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, which devolved into Animaniacs but worse.
Oh my God, what happened to that show kills me.
What happened to season 3? I liked the first two seasons.
@@minespatch They saw how the reboot Animaniacs *was sooooo popular* and decided to derail Captain Underpants into that kind of humor.
@@eatatjoes6751 That's depressing. The first two seasons were really solid. I'm guessing season 4 or 5?
@@minespatch Yep. They're in space and at camp now.
I haven't watched the show yet but I did grow up on the comics and lets just say I didn't expect this adaption to be so... different and insane
0:38 LS Mark's not gonna like that 😂
I used to read the graphic novels all the time as a kid. My name literally comes from the second book.
you just unlocked memories i forgot i had
I love the style of the sprites!! The artist did great! 💚🔥
This video unlocked so many hidden memories 🤯
that expelled movie was a fever dream
3:58 dude I loved that episode.
The fact that after they changed the name of cheesy poofs Lincoln Pierce ACTUALLY made a comic where deedee asks how cheesy poofs and cheese curls are diffrent
Honestly, I love this show's animation style! It kinda reminds me of The Peanuts Movie!
So basically it's a good show if you've never checked out the source material but it's lackluster if you've followed the source material. Is that the best way to look at it?
I love the big nate books and comics and I still enjoy the show. It's really awesome seeing them animated and in 3D, they did an amazing job with it.
Kinda glad I never read any of the Big Nate stories so I can watch this show and admire the animation without nitpicking or feeling like I'm missing something. I'd still love to give the comics a try too, of course.
Sounds like a Catscratch situation:
Its an adaptation of a comic that BLATANTLY ignores the source material but what it does is so strangely different that it doesnt even feel like an adaptation.
Man never thought Nate would sound like sonic when I voiced him in my head
It’s like the creators of the show never have read or even seen a comic or even a sketch just was told what he looked like
Let's just hope and pray that studios never get their hands on Foxtrot. Thank goodness Bill Watterson was smart enough not to sell out Calvin and Hobbes.
I only know about the show because people kept milking the hell out of the same clips back in January and it blew up my recommendations
I've been reading the old Charlie brown comics and this gives a similar vibe. I might check it out, you made it seem pretty great.
So I didn't know this was even coming out, guess the universe was trying to shield me
Please help us remember Dilbert...Also caught the Debbie Easter egg from Oblongs..
My favorite comic was the one with the empty soda bottle that they kept hitting themselves on the head with 🤣
honestly i kinda love the animation, like it has a unique look and the choppy style reminds me of the comics
I was a big fan of big nate when I was younger. How is it I never knew there was a show
It would’ve been nice if Nate talked to the camera because he’s THAT full of enough that he believes that someone would make a tv show of his life, with the rest of the cast poking fun at him.
I grew up on these comics, even though my emetophobia will most likely stop me from seeing the show, my hope for it to flourish into what the comics have built up to isn't going to stop.
Nate speaking to camera = Malcolm in The Middle
Feels like people who made this show were big fans of those Netflix Captain Underpants cartoons, THEY ARE GOOD but the comics do seem more like something that are a more calming and chill read. Not something that makes you laugh or have your heart beat from the events happening.
Nate has always kinda struck me as a kid with undiagnosed ADHD and I think that’s why a lot of people I know who later got diagnosed (including myself) related to him so much.
If Big Nate is so good where's Giant Nate?
18:03 That’s Mrs. Czerwicki, the detention lady.
I loved Big Nate as a kid (well the novel didn't read much of the comic strips), but I forgot most of what happened in them this really helped me remember, so thanks 😊. Also reambering what happened in the comics made me agree with u on how the show is not Big Nate!
