This is simply the best version (although only one verse) of this song ever done. Terry Franklin is the best non traditional tenor of all time. He and Johnny Parrack (traditional style) stand alone in gospel history as far as I'm concerned. I love guys like Wes Hampton and Chris Allman but for that time he was with GVB, Franklin beats everyone else by a lot. His voice was so pure and effortless. He could've sung in any genre and been great but I'm glad he chose to serve the Lord
I agree with you. Terry could sing anything. To think he filled in for the Cathedrals at one point, what an honor! Even Glen Payne admired his talent. Nowadays, Terry is underappreciated by the newer GVB fans but I think he was one of the best tenors to sing with the group. He could effortlessly sing contemporary Christian music (Peace Of The Rock) and then switch to Southern Gospel (Southern Classics). Both albums are great GVB albums.
The blend of this group’s harmony is perfect. So beautiful. These men are Artists with a capital A. A testament that the human voice is the prettiest instrument!
Terry Franklin is the son of Bob Franklin, famous lead singer for the Suntones, 1961 International Barbershop Quartet Champions. Music has always been in his soul as you can see. His music ministry has taken him and wife Barbie and two sons all over the world. What a talent
This is an amazing song written by David Sapp, largely unknown to most people. What an anointing to have been inspired to write such words and melody. I salute you David and would pray that many more millions are blessed by hearing this wonderful song. For it is more than a song. It is an experience with God.
This is quintessential in harmony and content - it just doesnt get any better than this !!! It was one of those moments in gospel music history that is so magical and very spiritual - it can't be duplicated or imitated !!! Priceless ... Only God's Heaven will have better harmony and content !!!!
My favorite song by my favorite singers. This is by far my favorite group of singers that ever worked with Bill. I guess that tenor-who is absolutely amazing, left to go on to his own ministry with his wife. Of course Michael’s voice is that of an Angel. Mark is not given credit for his beautiful baritone. I was looking for this video and happened on a Jimmy Swaggart video of it. I guess he first recorded it-I thought it was an older song. Jimmy said it was written by a sixteen year old boy who came to his house and sang the song to him. This is still my my favorites version. All three of these guys were amazing. They are better without Bill trying to sing.
Are you serious? Michael English and Terry Franklin are two of the greatest singers in gospel music history. English was a superstar in his younger days in both gospel and contemporary. And Terry Franklin is considered one of the greatest pure tenor singers of all time. The group went way too country with Penrod. Phelps is amazing though
It's from Live At Praise Gathering. And, yes, it's only on vhs as far as I can tell lol I really do hope that they release it on dvd. It is my all time favorite video.
This is my favorite version of this song! I think Terry Franklin has an awesome voice. I prefer his voice and style to David Phelp's in this particular song.
There's a Gaither Reunion video from just a couple of years back where they sang this. It was second to none. They hit some notes that had that incredible sound like tapping on crystal. Made my hair stand on end. They were all ex Gaither Vocal Band members but had not all sung together.
How about enjoying the song and focusing on the words rather than focusing on the singers and whose voice you like better. Gospel music isnt about the men singing the songs, its about the glory of God. The song is about worshipping Christ and what he has done for us and you're discussing who the best tenor is.
I really really like this songs, teh harmony was there especially when they go for hte high note, good songs likes to hear it all the time especialy when it comes to that part''when you drink this water you'll never thirst again''..........God bless the writer and singers............
It is hard to realize that Mark can't read music to this day, and as far as I know he sings his part like we would sing lead. They play his part and he learns it and can sing it all by himself. He did sing his part all by himself at one of the Quartet Convention. Most singers that sing harmony, can hear it in their mind and sing it, but not Mark. He does have a gorgeous voice, and I love to hear him sing. Bill said that was why he ask him to audition. He also wanted someone with a sense of humor, and the rest is history.
@@Pfrazier43 Bill took a risk when he hired Mark Lowry and I'm glad he did. Gave us wonderful years of laughter and good messages as well. Some of Mark's comedy has some pretty good messages though done with humor.
I just had a dream where someone was singing a song with the lyrics "there is a river". This isn't it (it probably doesnt exist), but this is still really good!
Olá, sou brasileira e amo oo gathers, é uma pena que no brasil quase não temos acesso as suas musicas, eu tenho muita vontade de receber seus videos e musicas, gostaria mesmo.
Danny Gaither was the best ever tenor. He is in Heaven singing with the angels now. Danny’s voice was so pure and perfection. Terry Franklin is good, but Danny has him beat. I saw the Gaither Trio years ago at Tulsa Baptist Temple in Tulsa, OK, Brother Clifford Clark was my pastor.
Every voice is different but all gaithers tenors were excellent in their own way Gaither would have never use anything but that they're all great all the way from larnelle Harris 2 West Hampton and now the new guy They're all great singers .
Phelps is very good but he is very, very, "taught" sounding. Now I feel that there is nothing wrong with that, I was a vocal major that is now a teacher, but there is a problem that occurs when trained to sing classical music as Phelps was at Baylor. It takes away the naturalness(?) of the voice sound. Still good but just not as real sounding, IMO. But the best GVB was most definitely when Michael joined with Larnelle in late 80's on the 1x1 album. Those 2 voices alone make it the best. IMO
These 3 can do what 6 do the harmony is so good.
Just beautiful! It’s 2023 and I still think this was the best lineup of GVB ever!
I agree!
Terry was one of the best tenor singers!
Terry still has an amazing voice and testimony for God.
In my opinion this is the best version of this song ever recorded.
Terry Franklin is so darn good!!!
It’s 2021 and this is still my favorite GVB line up.

100% agree. Terry is amazing!
David phelps....

Terry is great, but can anyone touch David Phelps?
The blend of this group’s harmony is perfect. So beautiful. These men are Artists with a capital A. A testament that the human voice is the prettiest instrument!
Love to hear this song. It consoles my heart.
I love listening to Terry Franklin❤❤❤

I love to listen to Terry Franklin!! He has the best tenor voice I have heard!!!!❤
This was an amazing performance Terry had a wonderful talent❤
Best harmony! Terry Franklin so good!

Wow, this touches me. The Lord has truly blessed the Gaither Vocal Band. Nothing but God given talented singers and music!
Praise God, Praise God!
The best of harmony ever.

Bill CAN sing. He just doesn't have range. His bass singing is very inconsistent.
@@daryltracy7949 bill can u right...surely check out the new album where Bill sings. He is by nature a baritone and that's why his bass inconsistent
this just shows how far the vocal band has come with talent. this group was good, but when Guy and David came, the group just skyrocketed.

The best still in harmony and personality they work together real good.
Fantastic, the best tenor voice!
this gaither line up sounded so good together. songs like home, satisfied, kind is coming, I love the way this four sounded together
terry frankin que buena voz tiene para honra y gloria de DIOS.
i agree with tylerrestrick. the band with david and guy was when the it reached its peak!
It's from Live At Praise Gathering. And, yes, it's only on vhs as far as I can tell lol I really do hope that they release it on dvd. It is my all time favorite video.
Mine too
Bill should consider remastering it and rereleasing it on DVD.
Glory to God.
Love the worship of our Lord
This is my favorite version of this song! I think Terry Franklin has an awesome voice. I prefer his voice and style to David Phelp's in this particular song.
every time I hear this song...I think how blessed my mom was when she heard it...she was so blessed....was a sight to watch the spirit wash over her!

Oh No Micheal is the best tenor.. I just saw him last week in concert.. He was amazing...
carrolc
Nice harmony. I also like this arrangement.
haha i know i feel the same way- i've always followed the gaither vb growing up and i have never heard of him- but what amazing talent!
Beautifully sung!
They are all awesome, Phelps sounds to opera like....I think Wes is not only the best but the most annoited by far!
I really really like this songs, teh harmony was there especially when they go for hte high note, good songs likes to hear it all the time especialy when it comes to that part''when you drink this water you'll never thirst again''..........God bless the writer and singers............
you guys are awsome! Thank GOD for your inspiring feeling from you!!
💙💙💙 Love this!
I love this trio..

Just beautiful. Thank you for sharing this video.
JESUS CRISTO É MARAVILHOSO!!!
love how they sing
I just had a dream where someone was singing a song with the lyrics "there is a river". This isn't it (it probably doesnt exist), but this is still really good!
Bless the Lord
Terry Franklin is the purest and most natural sounding tenor not named Larnelle that the GVB has ever had.
wow!! amen
Olá, sou brasileira e amo oo gathers, é uma pena que no brasil quase não temos acesso as suas musicas, eu tenho muita vontade de receber seus videos e musicas, gostaria mesmo.
Wes took Terry,s place. Wes has a beautiful voice.
the newer version is so good too.

Not to argue, but it was not Max "Phelps" it was Max Sapp and his brother David Sapp.
this singer who sole the first tenor making music you know and tell me if Steve Green?
what video is this? Rickster38 ... you spell Mark's name wrong. It's Mark Lowry.
Reminds me of Wes Hamptons version.
Michael English is not a tenor singer but a lead singer.
michael wasn't a tenor.
he sang lead.
Phelps is very good but he is very, very, "taught" sounding. Probably Mark Wes and Guy could replace this and be great.

Ha!, anyone that has to criticize every aspect of the band until it suites themselves, is missing the mark..
High pitch voice is monotonous, baritone voice is better
Phelps?? The best tenor??? hahahahahahaha. is something typical of someone who does not appreciate good gospel music
