It's very nice to see more people making videos discussing Lawl with their own voice. First Heb and now you! This is definitely a promising first chapter that talks about a very interesting topic. Stages without a character are really fun to see in a Lawl because they often represent stuff that wouldn't work in playable form, something that Smash does as well (and I am a big fan of character-less stages in regular Smash. Pictochat, anyone?) Definitely agreed with all of your positions here, it was overall a really solid selection of stages from a variety of Lawls. Seems like music selection is a very important factor to you when it comes to stages and it makes sense (it's the focus of those stage showcase videos after all), and the Number 1 was just the perfect choice for the number one. I also didn't know that there was a Dark Side of the Rainbow Stage! That's really unique. Oh and I'm fine with keeping that Bronze Medal. Seeing 4 more of my stages in the honorable mentions was heartwarming too!
One stage off the top of my head that could have been in this video is The Void from Lawl All-Stars. Woody did a terrific job in creating a non character specific stage that has a truly terrifying and unsettling vibe to it. Dude may not have gotten his Lawl fully off the ground yet, but still delivers topnotch work whenever he can. But yeah I really enjoyed this video Miro! It does feel like stages aren't as discussed about that often, or are at least appreciated in silent, but just having this kind of video/hopefully videos if there are followups feels like a nice tribute to the hard work and care that goes into this kinda stuff. Thanks for making this video of you yapping about Lawl Miro. Glad to see Hebleh inspired you to try this out. Also thanks for adding the old Super Mario stage that I made and gave to Skap to your Honorable Mentions, that was pretty cool to see lol
This is a super cool topic to cover and one Im also super passionate about. Sometimes you just can't represent a source through a character but designing a stage can be just as good!
it’s strangely wholesome hearing people’s guilty pleasure when it surrounds simple things like stages from a infamous smash inspired web projects. i really loved listening to yours personal favorite lawl stages and i would love to see other topics be ranked from other things (assists, music, items). great video!
such a great start to this series!! a video ranking stages is a fun idea in of itself, but centering it on specifically stages not tied to any character is much better as it allows you to talk about the origins of some of the more obscure stages; i never would've thought anything about the local 58 or dark side of the rainbow stages if it werent for this video teaching me about their history! also im glad im not the only person who associates what-if with the grilled mormons stage - i sadly dont know the history behind takeshi's challenge but this stage always stood out to me too even when i first saw it, and im glad im not the only person. on this topic, one stage i'm sad didn't make the list, not even in the honourable mentions, would be bad apple. maybe (definitely) it's the touhou nerd bias inside of me, but i adore how this stage was adapted! the music video intentionally lacks any defined locations as for it to flow properly, but this stage takes the scraps left from that music video and pieces it together in such a lovely way! from the background elements like the saigyou ayakashi (the big tree) front and center, to the addition of water on this stage as the stage the original piece of music played on was called the lake of blood! also, while i would adore seeing a variety of touhou music, i do appreciate the stage sticking to the gimmick of bad apple remixes; and i majorly appreciate its inclusion of bad apple scan ^^ understandably not a stage i'd see you thinking twice over, but hopefully you learned at least a little something through this comment as i did through your video!
@@SydneyIsSleepy Ooooh! Remind me what Lawl is Bad Apple in? Also aww thank you for your comment, glad to hear I was able to educate someone with my silly lawlnalysis!
Thanks! Just found the stage showcase, honestly if I had found it sooner I def would've included it in the video, but for sure it will be included in part 2, agree with a lot what you said about it!
Hey, really loved this ranking! Stages are some of my favorite aspects in Lawl and I'm happy to see the non-character-specific ones get talked about, I think my favorite of these kinds of stages is probably What If's Three Days Grace thanks to doubling down on all songs being mashups of this one song lol Also gosh World Taste looked worse than I remembered, really wish TFS had a better stage in its Lawl considering how unique that series' placement was since it's a full work by the creator, and had some real synergy potential with Lawl.. but alas I could imagine both of Monstro's themes from Kingdom Hearts show up in there at least Loved this video, looking forward for future episodes! Lawl's a series I really would love to hear discussed in this format more😊
YOOOO I didn't expect you to comment on this, especially with such detail aaaaa. It's so good to hear from you! Oh yes, I admit I didn't remember Stage Without Love until I was editing on the video. It might get discussed in the second part of course Honestly you do remind me that one future video idea I have is hypotethical song lists for OG Lawl's other stages, and those are pretty funny ideas for a stage as morbid as World Taste. I will keep making more videos like this for sure whenever I can. This comment def has given me motivation!
@@MiroFloydtan Haha yeah, I've been getting a kick out of recent podcast type videos for Lawl (mainly Heb's) and saw this in my recommendeds, was happy more vids like those lol And oooooo, that'd be a nice topic, I remember making a lot of song wishlists back in like, 2015 for the original Lawl, would be nice to see what more songs could fit in specific stages, Lawl Nova's stage volumes definitely were great to see songlists revisited And you're welcome! I definitely am glad to have bumped into here again 😁, definitely itching to see more, maybe proposing hypothetical stages for old Lawls could be a nice topic (like with YTPguy's or ARL's)
@@kirb-star622 OOOO I love that last idea! Def gonna add to my list of ideas for future videos. Unrelated but I sent you a discord friend request few weeks ago but I don't think it went through. If you don't take them that's fine, just wanted to talk about something.
It's Nice to See other types of videos talking about lawl like this, i'm interested to See more about this section. From the stages list My Favorites are the Mario paint One and the local 58.
It was neat and a great start to this series, though I could have gone without seeing world taste again. 🤮 Anyways, my favorite stages of these have to be Grilled Mormons, and Tokyo City. Though, Dark side of the Rainbow is also good. If I can suggest a idea, It would be top stages with characters, because I would love your opinion on those.
may i recommend one on the (albiet controversial) OG lawl’s subspace emissary? i’ve kinda wanted that ever since the porch pals version of villian’s valley. this one is great btw, makes me wish smash ultimate had more non-character stages… and a real adventure mode
I love hearing people in this community talk passionately about specific elements in Lawl
Same here!
