As soon as humans have enough abundance to have their basics need met food, shelter, warmth etc,the next frontier is to create value in things that have no inherent value. The value turns into a psychological hype and excitement around a certain thing. That's what have been art paintings and now nft's.
This reminded me of Thoreau's Walden, at one point he says: "The necessaries of life (...) may, accurately enough, be distributed under the several heads of Food, Shelter, Clothing, and Fuel; for not till we have secured these are we prepared to entertain the true problems of life with freedom and a prospect of success (...) By proper Shelter and Clothing we legitimately retain our own internal heat, but with an excess of these (...) that is, with an external heat greater than our own internal, may not cookery properly be said to begin?" This "cookery" I understand as creating value and meaning, personally, into our lives, making our lives even more our own, by going beyond the bare necessities (which can still be a big source of joy and meaning, too, the simple pleasures in life rock, call me a Hobbit). The problem arises, IN MY OPINION, when we're not enriched HUMANLY (as opposed to solely getting physically, financially, socially even, richer, in detriment! of our humanity) by the things we seek, inside or outside. But especially outside.
not really. its all about keeping those creating digital content honest. In the physical world, we use things like copyright and trademarks to protect the IP rights of the person who created something from having others use it to make money. NFTs are simply a digital way to do this.
It depends on how you look at it Me as an artist sadly not a big one and certainly need funds will appreciate direct sales since you are supporting me the artist whose passion is to create. So having the original copy directly supports the artist behind it.
That 100 dollar fee is what makes NFTs a big no-no for me. I'll just wait till all the rich people have "strengthened the network" enough for that fee to go down.

@JuicyyzFPS nobody can replicate your painting strokes 100% exactly, it is unique to you. Pixels on a jpeg are exactly the same as a screenshot i take of it.
@@unskeptable It doesn’t. If you upload the same picture again then it’s theoratically the same NFT but since the owner of the original NFT is ‘embedded’ in the blockchain everyone can see that the reuploaded NFT is a fake.
@@-Raumdeuter. Fake doesn't mean anything if it is exactly the same thing. What is the value of owning the original, if every person on the planet can have the same nft with a click of a button? The whole business is a scam imo..
@@unskeptable Because they won’t possess the exact same thing. The people who screenshot the NFT don’t have any of the rights that come with the NFT. For example, when the blockchains confirms that you are the owner of an NFT, you’ll have special rights that only come when you’re confirmed on the blockchain. People who screenshot only have the ability to look at the NFT and not really possess it and therefore don’t get the same rights the real holder does. It’s like real art, the original peace can only be distinguished by the signature (talking in simple terms) and the blockchain represents exactly that signature.
Average people can spend the money to make it but no one will buy it...only relatively famous people will make money on mints... obviously that's a bit of an ignorant statement and there will be exceptions but...
