      @@rafiwolffe1951 I wish that were true but it never works like that for me. I've done several long fasts and it always ends the same way. I actually end up feeling even more hungry as time goes on and then end up with dangerously low blood sugar, racing heart, I get lightheaded and start to black out upon standing, etc. I have a lot of health issues and it puts my body under too much stress if I go too long and I get sick and a flare of symptoms. I have to find a healthy balance. After this one I'll do a 60 hour fast and try to work my way up to 5 days again. It's an ongoing project, but I haven't made it to 5 days yet because of the above symptoms. The goal is 5 days to reset my immune system to help with MCAS. Sorry, didn't mean to write a book. 😂

    I found this out while dieting down from 197 lbs to currently 185 in the last 5 months. To actually lose weight I have to be a bit hungry throughout the day to actually lose any weight. I take breaks from time to time, usually weekends, that's why it's taking me awhile plus I don't want to over do it and lose too much muscle in the process. It takes some getting use to, just don't go too aggressive and the hunger is manageable.

    They gave the folks in the study MK-677 (Ibutamoren). This is a growth hormone secretagogue. It is a ghrelin receptor agonist that binds to the Ghrelin receptor and triggers the body to produce more growth hormone. I think it is a bit of a stretch to conclude that being a little hungry makes the body produce GH when they were given a chemical that specifically triggers the body to produce more GH.

      @CursedWheelieBin ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Could that mean you’re fasting so often that your body has responded by slowing your metabolism?
      Apparently it does that to reduce the stress on your body.
      I’m sure that happened to me when I was fasting for 16-20 hours every single day.
      I guess when it becomes too easy, it’s because your body no longer interprets it as an acute period of stress anymore, and therefore doesn’t respond the way we want it to.
      I have to force myself to get up and eat 3 separate meals some days. That way, when I DO fast it’s a helluva shock.

    You don't have to be hungry to get these benefits. Just put a little apple cider vinegar in with psyllium husk and water. This drink creates a feeling of fullness and eliminates hunger emotions, and my understanding only benefits the fasting process. I'm very skinny with a high metabolism and I get shaky and I have lots of anxiety when I fast sometimes. Even though my body is keto trained to make my own blood sugar from fat. Even when I do the keto diet and don't have enough fiber, I'll get anxiety. Taking psyllium husk while being in a fasting state has mostly eliminated the anxiety that I experience when in a caloric deficit.

    My blood pressure normally runs about 140/100. When I'm fasting, it can drop as low as 110/75. Now I know at least part of it. I had assumed it was all some hydration effect.

    I feel that having food in my stomach impedes my desire to do physical and partially mental activities. I prefer to go 20 hours per day with no food, and then have a 2 Hours for eating. Just prior to eating, I take a mega dose of psyllium and oat fiber. I've lost 70 lb. because of switching to a low carbohydrate diet, although still taking the mega dose of fiber which does provide some carbohydrates.

    Usually when I feel hunger, it’s in my throat and causes me enormous pain. And then when I eat its painful to swallow. I don’t feel hunger the way others do. I don’t feel hungry when I fast if I sleep in late. I normally eat when I get a craving, rather than when I’m in the painful midst of hunger.

      That won't really help with eating carbs or reducing fat gain, you might as well not eat so many carbs, or eat them slower so that insulin is already circulating.
      I personally changed my belief to believing that insulin is good thing. Large insulin spikes from 1, large meal a day is much healthier than 6 small meals a day. Insulin spikes can be a good thing when we're talking a clean diet low in fructose(insulin spikes can come from large amounts of protein for example).

    • @DansVlog
      @DansVlog ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hempwick8203 Exactly. Those items help regulate blood sugars. Only Apple Cider Vinegar is shown to literally reduce blood sugars by as much as 20-50% depending on the type of carb consumed. Dr Berg did a video on ACV. I recommend cinnamon and such JUST for stabilization, especially for diabetics with wonky readings. But like you said… put down the donut, and walk away lol

    It is interesting how food culture have gotten this pattern of eating right, well before the science elucidated the mechanisms. For example, the French, who are known for being slim despite their traditional cuisine being rich in fats and carbs, are very particular about meal timing, Until fairly recently, it was considered uncouth to graze and snack between your meals in France. Japan is another part of the world were they have very strict unwritten rules around diet, and the concept of avoiding getting fool is a part of the way they are instructed to eat.
