    Vpx looks incredible and ball physics too. Color dmd looks great but playfield color saturation could be turned down a little. Great comparison 👍 earned.

    My God, it looks 3D even through video compression on you tube! Bravo for being the first to do these comparisons, everyone else has been asleep for weeks now.
    Consider trying the FX3 version for good measure if you do another like this. 👍

      I don't think they released that table for FX3. I have all of those tables, except for the latest Indiana Jones one (so pricey), but I don't see Addams Family in the list.

      I have the old Pinball Arcade version of Addams Family that works with the Kinect head tracking. It looks cool but FX physics are better.

    VPX flipper, impact, & various physics sounds are so much more realistic. It’s not even close.

      Yeah, the VPX version is pretty much the only one that I play.

      @@DannyWelch I bet I will. I have the HD version too, it's a great machine but they did a really great job on this one with the 3 screens and vibs board already built in!

    Incredible comparison. Great job ! Think I might pick up Attack on Mars 4k.

      Love the look of that Attack on Mars cabinet. It's the one I would prefer, but was already locked in to the Addams Family pre-order. No worries though, it's nice as well. =)

    Quick tip on Pinball FX Danny ... If you don't set the DMD to be full screen (1920x1080), you can use Popper to put a DMD frame behind it, similar to the VPX presentation. Alternatively, you can set your wallpaper on that screen to be a generic DMD frame, too (in case you run Pinball FX outside Popper).
    Also, I haven't found AA to really be needed at 4K on such a small screen. Then again, I'm using Intel's upscaling, which smooths things out considerably as well.

    Thanks for your work on this Danny. How do you find native flipper lag versus OTG lag? Much of a difference?

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! I find OTG lag to be great. The stock tables other than the Zen tables are also great. They found the issue with the Zen tables and that is being fixed now.

    Sorry if I sound ignorant, just discovered v pinball last week and want a mars 4k pin possibly. Plan on just using pinball fx and figuring out vpx since i have a killer computer, but hear the stock tables are lagging and kinda suck. My question - if you use pinball fx, VPX on the 4k at games legend machine - do all the haptics, plunger, tilt, solenoids, and if you install surround sound - all those features -do they still work the same as if you were using the stock table? I plan on using the machine only for the OTG -so want to be sure on the compatibility. Also, thank you so much for posting this!!

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not today. At the moment, the accelerometer doesn't work with OTG for physical nudge. You have to map nudge buttons right now. I've seen one other person say they are using the SSF kit over OTG by setting up surround audio in Windows, but I haven't been able to verify (no SSF kit yet). The plunger works, but it's not ideal. You can map it through JoyToKey to support FX3 and use analog for VPX/FX, but I found the jitter so bad that I just use it through JoyToKey for all of them. Turns the plunger into a digital input, which makes skillshots very hard to hit. Hopefully these items can be addressed with firmware updates in the future.
      I've really been enjoying the OTG experience so far. For the money, it seems like a decent vpin platform with a 4K display, large backglass, and DMD.

  • @trailbreaker11
    @trailbreaker11 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I love how the back-glass image animates on VPX. Im surprised ALP 4k doesn’t have that on their stock games

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I agree. Seems like an easy win. They don't even include static (much less animated) backglass images in Pinball FX/3, which seems odd to me when you have cabinet support.

      @pinballwiz45b 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      DOFLinx is confirmed on Pinball FX. Zen's DIY cabinet in 2022 was not a mistake.

    There is a vesion of Adams Family which was on the Pinball Arcade platform for the PS4 before Pinball Arcade had to remove all their williams pinball tables. Be nice to see how that comp[ares to the Pinball FX version

    Interesting. Seems like the vpx ball physics aren't as realistic. Seems like the ball in pinball fx is a little bigger than the other 2 versions. The lighting looks best on the pinball fx. I believe they're using Ray tracing.
    I think the sound on the stock table is kinda low quality. Scratchy like.
    If you had to pick one, which one?

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's VPX for me all the way. The others aren't bad at all, but the VPX table feels and looks the best IMHO. Of course, that's just my opinion. ;)

    • @paulcleary8088
      @paulcleary8088 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      VPX feels pretty darn realistic to me. I played the real table last month and it felt similar. In addition, I play with anaglyph 3D on in VPX, which makes it that much closer to the real deal. I love both VPX and Zen for different reasons. VPX for the realism. Zen for the arcade play and challenges (which are addictive)

    • @nerdloftgaming
      @nerdloftgaming 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      VPX all the way. You should also keep in mind, not all VPX tables are created equal (this is a community driven hobby) but the best out there produce stellar tables with life like physics. Zen have improved from FX3 to FX, but it still doesn’t compare to what VPX can do. Also, the POV in FX isn’t as convincing as a tuned POV in VPX - just look at the chair and bookcase in FX, they appeared squished compared to VPX.

    Do you have the SSF kit on your machine? If so, is it working with VPX and Pinball FX?

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do not, yet. I'm holding off for the NOD that starts 2/23 to see if they have a sale on the kit, since I missed the pre-order with installation. From what I've heard, it is supposed to work with OTG.

      I ordered it separate with my alp and installed it the other day. I’m trying to get pinball fx3 and fx running through steam to see what will work, but I can’t seem to get cabinet mode working nor the buttons yet.
      Thanks for the quick reply and I am hopeful it will work. I am shocked there isn’t really anything out there yet with this new cabinet and otg setups

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@darthdorkimusprime7231 For FX3, I had to use JoyToKey to map the controls, since you can't remap controller inputs in that version. I did a video on that here: th-cam.com/video/45DSuO3Va-c/w-d-xo.html

    • @darthdorkimusprime7231

      @@DannyWelch Got it working finally thanks to your video you linked to, thank you! When playing Pinball FX3 and Pinball FX, the SSF Kit is showing as disabled when I go to play with the volume controls on the cabinet while in OTG, so I have to figure out how to get that working. The SSF Kit on the stock tables changes the whole immersive feeling of the cab so it is a must have option.

      @DannyWelch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@darthdorkimusprime7231 I recall hearing that the SSF kit was going to be enabled for OTG in an upcoming firmware update, so it might not be enabled just yet. Not sure if we'll see it in the 2/20 update, but hopefully soon after.

    I gotta say, VPX at 60Hz on this thing looks better than I expected. One of my biggest reservations was the lower framerate, as I currently play on a 165Hz 2k monitor, but I don't have a cabinet. So it has been hard for me to decide.

    • @DannyWelch
      @DannyWelch  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, that's a tough one. I've never played pinball on a high refresh monitor like that, so can't really compare. Overall, I'm happy with this setup. It's not perfect, but it works for me. =)

      Just need a PC that can support 3 HDMI connections (adapters are fine) and then grab the latest Baller Installer, which will install Pinup Popper frontend, Visual Pinball (VPX), and Future Pinball. www.nailbuster.com/wikipinup/doku.php?id=baller_installer

    How in the world is everyone smart enough to hook up all these extra tables from VPX and others, and switch over so quickly to the stock table? This stuff is so complicated to me. What computer to buy, graphics card, processor, etc. Then to make allll the adjustments to make certain the table plays well. It's impossible to me. Danny, if you could help me, I will pay you or anyone who can set me up. Ive been dying to get into these games for a long time. Just don't have the smarts or background that you need.
