  • In this video, Aaron Hilliard of Mushroom Wonderland, mycologist and VP of his local mycological society, sits down with a bunch of wild mushrooms to help identify them.
He will discuss morphological features, habitat, edibility, seasonality, warnings and special uses of these fungi. Some of these mushrooms are very common and easy to identify, others are rare and a bit more obscure. All of them are found in the wild in the Pacific Northwest in Autumn, and can also be found elsewhere in the world but in different habitats.

Aaron, your videos are so important to human health! A certain mushroom stopped my shaking! I'm 67. I learned how to micro dose off you tube. It's simply amazing what mushrooms can do to help all of humanity. Thanks buddy ❤ Ladykat

I had an MRI, results- brain tumor, and lesions. Memory loss. After taking Lions Mane Mushroom, my brain had proof of recovery, Grey matter no longer looks shredded!! I added Rhodiola to Mushroom, perfection!! Getting better and I will not need my palliative care any longer. Mushrooms are the source to many things gone bad!!!

I can't find a source anywhere for any good psychedelics in my area. I suffer some pretty bad anxiety and i got a chance to try K and man it was a miracle substance, I felt free, the only high or euphoria was from the relief of my vices being released, that's exactly what it did

Magic mushrooms don't only help with mental health, they help amplify your empathy, if people were more empathetic the world would be a better place

He buddy, love your work. I've been watching your content for well over a year now and have been photographing fungi here in the PNW for three years now. I started up my channel to raise awareness for both decriminalization and the latest science regarding treatments for things like opioid addiction and PTSD. I would love to interview you some day or maybe tag along on for a walk in the woods. Thanks for all great content and sharing your knowledge. Keep up the good work, buddy.

I was at your event last week with my family. The mycological group on Olympic peninsula has disbanded and I want to join the one in Kitsap but there were so many people there I didn't have the patience to stand in line. Had a bunch of mushrooms identified and went back to my place yesterday to harvest the patch of Laccaria lacatta and the last of the lobster mushrooms. Going to go back to my secret Oyster mushroom birch tree today and see what's there this week.

With the muscaria there are actually two sides of it i could imagine the Vikings eating it raw to get the stimulating effects of it because ibotenic acid is actually a stimulant and muscimol is a depressant

After watching this channel originally I got a suggestion for TheNatureKid as well. That kid could use a few views if you can spare some. Amazing knowledge for a young kid.

My first view of MW. I got about half of the genera but none of the species. I like the scientific approach. I'm an amateur mycologist, 40 years. My current calling is Medicinal mushrooms. I love watching "Crime pays but Botany doesn't". He tends to be epiphetic but also talks about species and their relatives. Thano

One of my favorite edible mushrooms. I always get a thrill when I see them popping up. I pull the cap apart into frenchfry-sized pieces, dredge in flour, dip in beaten egg, and roll in panko crumbs before frying... Or make a rich cream mushroom soup that's out of this world.

Found my first haul of honey mushrooms during the drought. It was still twig-snapping dry out there, but the honey mushrooms were thriving surprisingly. Glad I tried them- they easily made it on my top ten list.

Hmm.. oh I think it's because I ID'd them as Pholiota but they turned out to be an obscure Gymnopilus that was ID'd by Jack Johnson at the KPMS annual show. I think we were all surprised, but I had to cut them out because I had a bad ID.

The little Jehovah's witness hall out in the country down the road from me aggressively got rid of the edible boletes in their yard. Mother nature has a quirky sense of humor and replaced them with a huge patch of giant amanita muscaria...

"Chitten" the cell wall of mushrooms isn't digestible by humans unless cooked or extracted in some way.
