You're the only one I've found who explained the formatting of the drive at the end. Spent a long while trying to figure out why the laptop wouldn't recognize the ssd. And this was why, it was offline. Everyone else had me going into the BIOS and making sure it was enabled, etc. So thanks so much for the useful/helpful information!
@@whattmeter yeah. I've been looking at this laptop, but I think I'm just gonna get another one with 16GB pre-installed. Thoughts on 128GB SD? The laptop I'm looking at says 128GB SSD +1TB HDD. Is the storage enough? Thanks mate
Yup storage is enough in my opinion. Most like the ssd would be booting so the pc would start up quick. Did they mention the 1tb hard drive speed? 7200 rpm or 5400 rpm? 16gb of ram is definitely a solid choice
First time ever upgrading anything in my compute and i was a little nervous but if you go slow and take your time you'll be alright :) Also it helps to have good tools and don't strip your screw for the WIFI card!!!

This is an amazing vid. Unfortunately I think I misplaced my laptop box and have no idea where my mounting screws are. I may have to spring for other screws for the caddy. Also, you definitely did a better job taking it apart than I did when I put in my RAM before. I just got a 480GB SSD on sale, so I'm going to be putting that one in.
Yo the little lever thing isn’t going down lol Where you connect the sata thing to the motherboard. I’m not even sure if I put it in the right place, where exactly do you put it.
Whats the difference between the two formatting options at the end? You were saying if you get a new ssd itll ask you to format it into two different options, whats the difference? And is there a cap for how much storage you can add? Could i go for a terabyte? Lol
I just got the 2021 version of this (I think, it's an 11th-gen i5 w/ a 512 GB SSD) so I'm assuming everything will be basically the same inside and watching you try and open this is giving me major anxiety lol. The Aspire 5 model I currently have is way easier to open...

So my Acer Aspire 5 A515-43 with a 256 SSD from the factor by default, has a second slot for me to add my new SSD? So there'll be two SSD's if I install a new one? There's not one visible for me to replace instead? This is the second Acer Aspire 5 video where the SSD area seems empty from the factory. So IDK where the SSD I'm currently utilizing is at in the Acer lol. I haven't opened the Acer yet to upgrade quite yet.
so im trying to get more storage on my laptop of course. only thing ive upgraded thus far is my ram. by using this method im just adding some storage right and i wont lose any data?

Do you know where I can get a 512 GB SSD that works? 256 GB isn’t enough for me. Also, how do you upgrade the RAM (4GB/8GB more RAM). How exactly do you disconnect the battery?
Thank you! The bracket and ribbon cable/connector should be included inside the laptop. The bracket screws are in a small plastic bag in the laptop box

Upgrading the ssd and the ram looks so easy when you do it but I'm terrified to do it myself
I've had a lot of practice and I've made a lot of mistakes as well. If anything, sometimes it's better to play it safe and let a professional do it.

A little bit of both. You want to make sure that it is securely inserted into the slot, but do it carefully

Yes so am currently upgrading but how do it usee the ssd as primary drive instead of the hardrive thats already in?
You would have to install windows on it, then wipe the primary. I highly recommend backing up your data before though
Can i use a 1tb seagate HDD ? or is it only available for ssd ?

no because it is secondary storage. The main boot device is an m.2 ssd. The 2.5 inch ssd is just for extra storage.
