Thanks for the video, was very interesting! I love Joy by JP and I find it very sophisticated and classy. For me, I would choose Prada's Infusion d'Iris Absolue as a favourite from the designer world. Love how you look, so fresh and elegant and your necklace is beautiful, I have one like this from Jordan. Glad that the 90's fashion returned!!
I love that even for a top 10 list of designer fragrances, your picks are unconventional and well thought out. Coincidentally, just today, I packed my White Patchouli back in its box after finally accepting that we just are not going to get along. Kenzo L' Elephant, on the other hand, was love at first sniff. Joy by Jean Patou sounds intriguing, I'll keep it in mind to try soon.

DEFINITELY Joy. I love that one, because it reminds me of my mom (who passed away when I was 15) This was her favorite perfume. One time, for some strange reason, she put one of the iconic black bottles with the red lid in the glove compartment of our car. Well guess what, it obviously spilled, and our car smelled like joy forever. She was pretty upset as you might guess. Joy was at one time super expensive.
I like to smell it when I want to think of her, and it is nice to go to sleep to. I agree that it is the best jasmine ever.
I mentioned in another of your videos, that I love 19, but I wore it in highschool. I never wore what others were wearing. I wore that and attars my dad brought home from trips (he was in the airfare. ) I love the vintage and the modern extrait.
Oh what a shame the Joy bottle spilled - but those car rides must have smelled heavenly! I think a bottle of a perfume your mother wore is one of the most precious things one can own. That is so cool that you wore No. 19 in high school. Sadly I have yet to smell the vintage extrait :( Xo Sam

I wish they would reformulate perfumes. They are rarely equivalent. No 19 is still pretty, but the vintage versions are so much better.
Have you come across any reformulations that are better than the originals? That would be an interesting thing to explore.
Sadly, all I have now for No 19 are some tiny 5 mill bottles of vintage edp. I wish I had an unlimited supply, because I always get compliments when I wear it. alas...

No 19 EDP is amazing. I discovered it at a duty free shop, and I agree with the notion that it’s for grown ups. I waited a long time to purchase it. So beautiful...it sweetens after 10 minutes, but once you understand the composition the bitter (almost off putting) top notes are a pure pleasure.
Love this! Lol and the ominous thunderclaps! Joy, I could not do it 😷 it features in a video coming up - I get the jasmine but there’s so much else going on in terms of florals that it chokes me. 😬 I can see why it’s popular though, very opulent. I once read this review of Chanel Cristalle on fragrantica which I loved, it went:
"No. 19 is usually considered the purse-lipped ice queen of the Chanel family, but she actually has a tender floral heart somewhere under those designer duds, and probably donates anonymously to charity. Cristalle, on the other hand, is perfectly soulless, with a sharp grass-and-lemon opening that gives way to cold rain and the air inside a florist's fridge.

I recently sniffed the Hermes Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver and it's fabulous! I would love to own it for myself. I'm actually not crazy about the Terre D'Hermes original but that flanker is really good. I think it's a very unisex scent.

I love your channel. This is the 3rd video I'm watching in 3 days... I liked this video because most of the perfumes feel more approchable and affordable. It's hard to find some of the niche scents in Canada...
Also I made notes of what to try - I gotta say, Hiris totally sounds like me!
The classics are the best. Joy perfume is such a luxurious perfume, and a little goes a long way. Definitely for the mature woman. Chanel no 19 , reminds me of my ballet teacher, she always smelled classy. I love Hermes fragrances, the Hiris sounds lovely. I like what you said about not always having to wear perfume that projects. Sur La Lagune is one of my favs. Private collection, smells like nothing else. I used to wear it in the 80's, and loved it, but haven't smelled it for a while, I wonder if they reformulated it? Love your channel, I am new to it and really enjoying it.

I think one of the first male/female/everyone scents that I tried and loved was Calvin Klein Obsession. I still love that one lol I also remember CKOne being HUGE in the 90’s. I love the spice in ‘men’s’ scents. Always gravitated towards them.
I so enjoy Chanel No.19, No.5, Cristalle, Cuir de Russie. For a brief moment I thought no other house could get any better than Chanel. Then I went and tried other fragrances and fell down a lot of other fragrance rabbit holes. There are just so many to love.
Those are all phenomenal choices.. you're right - Chanel was "the mother brand" for me for a long time until the doors opened to what else the perfume world has to offer. Thanks for watching 🌹Xo Sam

I also like a bit of camphor in fragrance, but at first sniff of the Gucci pushed me away. I may have to revisit this. Have you tried Robert Graham scents by chance?

I bought a decant of Joy for my mom not too long ago. She had a bottle of it and she was younger. I wanted to make sure that it smelled the way she remembered so I added it to some other decants I was getting her from fragrancenet.
The OG Joy Parfume is still quite expensive at $350 for half an ounce.

"No Guerlain" 😨 😭 I still love your choices Sam! For another Chai latte scent, check out Jaipur Chai from Ineke. Very dry spice sort of scent with rose and vanilla. An easy daily wear.

Soooo funny! I would see Joy at Niche fragrance places and think, that's too common to be any good and never even tried to smell it! i LOVE jasmine lol. Chanel no 5 did nothing for me, I gave away my entire line of it to my mom's friend.

Yesssss. I have Kenzo Jungle. I absolutely love it. It's just unfortunate that It's sooo hot here in S. Texas I have to wait till Nov and Dec when it gets down to the 60s here. What other fragrances would you recommend me to try, that have this same "spice" to them? Thank you Sam~
Declaration by Cartier, Spicy by Micallef (fresh spicy), the Terre d'Hermès flanker I mentioned has spicy qualities too if you enjoy vetiver, Woody Mood by Olfactive Studio, Feminité du Bois by Serge Lutens... I love the spice 🌹Xo Sam

Hi- just commenting as I am watching.. but you said “camphor” and I wanted to know if you had sniffed Oud Palao by Dyptique? I love it so much. It’s my only Dyptique so far.. Have you tried Sequoia by Comme Des Garçons? It’s pretty interesting also- I love their aesthetic and would love a CdG outfit some day.

My mumma used to wear and love Joy back in the 80s and 90s and I always remember it being all about roses and not white florals. It must have changed in the reformulations over the years? Still you have me intrigued from the first fragrance as always Sam! 💖💖💖

I own a bottle of Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme and I love it. I tried the unusual smell of gucci Guilty Absolute as what was mentioned in this video but it smells too tough to wear. Smells something like a band aid or first aid kit. Maybe it's just me.
TF black orchid is one good perfume to have. I share it with my husband. So sexy.

If you like no 19 I’d say go for Calandre by paco rabanne I own both and calandre is a sister of No19 but the effortlessly beautiful one as opposed to the austere cold sister in no 19. Both beautiful but different enough to need both
