Loved seeing your craft room. I don't sell my junk journals either. Instead, I abandon them at Little Free Libraries around our town. Included is a very short explanation of what a junk journal is and a few ideas of how it can be used just so people know the journals are free for them to take.

I love the idea of putting them in the little free library‘s. That was kind of like a lightbulb moment for me when I read that. I don’t have an Etsy store or other place that I sell and I have limited my self on making them because I didn’t know what to do with them, thanks so much

@@nancypridham6556 It tickles me that I've inspired you to give to LFL. It makes me happy, too, to think of a person getting something handmade for free and that look of amazement when they take a journal. I usually walk back along back the same path half an hour later and will see someone take my journal with a smile, sometimes a child who is handed the journal by an adult. I hope it leads to a love of writing, reading, and creating.

I so value the honesty of this video…thank you for sharing your vulnerability Joie. Any of us who delve into creative pursuits, can relate. Ooh Joie, I am SOOOOO pleased to have seen your ‘before’ look at your craft room. So brave if you! I have a similar space which has overwhelmed me for months! I recently spent 12 straight hours in there doing a resort and shuffle. I felt soooo much better after that. However, even that isn’t the end of the job! I am still trying to bring in supplies from a second room! Finding the best storage methods is a bit of a problem, so THANK YOU for your ideas. Bless you for sharing your life with us. 😀🤗😘

I live in an apartment, so my living room has to be multifunctional. I tried being traditional as well, had a couch, for instance. I had stacks of boxes and totes everywhere, did gel printing on my couch. Things were clean and well sorted, but rummaging through the boxes to get supplies out was difficult due to my disabilities, mostly pain, fatigue and weakness. Realized it was almost worthless trying to have some traditional pieces as I seldom have people over and usually only one or two at a time. So the couch and TV stand were replaced with two 8 ft by 4 ft by 2 ft shelving units. It holds a ton and I am still sorting and arranging to make the best use of them. I've reclaimed my dining table for gel printing...or even eat at. I have my recliner, a rocker and a dining chair in my 'sitting area'. I'll probably get an upholstered side chair and put the dining chair back at the table. It's still a work in progress, but I try to do a bit more each day.

💚💙🖤 I love how you kept it real. I don't think you should worry about people judging because I am sure so many of us are in your same shoes. Those of us that have been crafting for years probably have an abundance of supplies. The struggle of organizing is real 😱. I also have hoards of scrapbook papers from when I used to scrapbook. I have gotten rid of so many and still have a ton. I love your idea of pulling out the pages that you like out of your paper pads! How brilliant! You have inspired me to do the same, and I will donate the rest. I also have an abundance of vintage books that I intent to use in my junk journals but can't bring myself to tear them apart. I do however use and tear apart dictionaries, bird books, atlases, hymnals, things like that. I avoid going to thrift stores anymore because I cannot fit anything else in my room! In my case I feel that the more I have, the harder it is to create because I am just too overwhelmed. Thank you Joie for putting this video out there. You are not alone!💚💙🖤

To anyone setting up a craft space or reorganizing an existing one, what's most important is that your area is conducive to creativity. You're not going to be in the mood to create anything if you're not comfortable in that space. It's also important to know what you have and where it is, no matter how you organize. If your resources are forgotten or you don't know where something is, you're not likely to use it - no sense having something if it can't be used.
Do the best you can with whatever budget you have. Where there's a will there's a way, and if you aren't going to use it, get rid of it - sell, donate, recycle, whatever. Having stuff isn't the point, using it is. 👍🙂

Hi, Joie. I hope you are having a good day. I am currently cutting a 1952 magazine apart for journal cards, pockets, tucks and tags. It had an article about 3 years old Prince Charles and what his life was like. I dearly loved getting to read that!
My husband passed away last year. My daughter and son in law and 3 children moved in with me. We turned my garage into 2 bedrooms and a full bath for my mother(MY mom lived with me and my husband) and myself. I turned the house over to my daughter and her family. All I possess in the world is in my bedroom. And I am as happy as a clam. My bedroom is my craft room. I have an Ikea daybed to serve as bed and couch. I have a recliner opposite my bed. A 25 cubby IKEA KALLAX, a tv cabinet, a bookcase, 2 large cabinets, and a table top that was supposed to be attached to my Kallax make up my furnishings. I LOVE being in my room. It makes me happy.

Joie the timing for seeing this video was so perfect for me. I have been working away on my craft room too over the last two weeks. I was at a standstill and wasn't creating anything so it was time. To start with I am lucky enough to have the spare room next to my craft room to catch some of the overflow. The only thing wrong with that is just like you said If you don't see it you don't use it. I so appreciate your honesty and vulnerability to share. I started sorting my scraps into twI also bought the tub from Michaels that has 16 smaller containers that fit in a see through suitcase of sorts, it was twenty five dollars here in Canada but it did help at least now I have one container with birds, or butterflies or flowers etc. I didnt like the suitcase and found another container that i can use so it makes it so much easier to see what I have.. All the digitals I have bought I have put into plastic sleeves according to who designed them so that I can give credit when I use them I have separated some to put into other sleeves such as background papers, collaged digitals and misc for all the ones I cannot remember I have two shelves in my crafting space that I use to put the books I use the most, like dictionary, Shakespeare, Edwardian lady and flower and bird books the rest are stacked in overflow. the biggest thing that helps me the book shelves and the plastic towers with drawers these you can usually pick ,up second hand. I am very technically challenged, I have a hard enough time trying to upload pictures for swaps and sharing those. It seems to be a hit or miss with me. I do hope some of my tips will help you I am enjoying being able to get my feet under my desk again LOL I was going on round two of sorting looking for something my sister had given me for Christmas.. I was sorting and rearranging drawers etc with no luck finally I decided to sit and play for a little bit and guess what I found when I went to decorate my piece. I watched when Arty maze did her makeover it was a big job and she spent alot on new containers to help. Sorry this is so long I could keep going but I think this is long enough LOL I hope I helped a little, Take Care Hugs and Smiles

I like those rectangular plastic baskets you can get so many places--dollar store, grocery store, Walmart. They come in various sizes and you can keep papers or project elements in there loose so you can rummage around in them easily. But what is really good about them is they nest so you can stack them up and they don't take up as much room on your desk top. Another good bin option is dishpans. I started using those when my son was little to put his children's books in standing upright and you can flip through them. The key to any of these options is to use the same basket or bin so that they nest, fit inside each other. This also gives a 'neater' appearance to your area. Zip top bags are good for other uses--they're nice because you can see what's in them. In my books, I also have a foreign language section. One of my coolest books is a 1934 Chemical Engineers manual. It has all kinds of annotated figures, tables, trig problems, diagrams. It is over 2500 pages long--tissue thin pages like in a bible. Thank you Joie for your funny, gentle presentations.

I personally would line finished junk journals (or at least your favorites) up on a shelf in like a living room, bedroom, or book area to pull them out to look through once in awhile. They are beautiful works of art that deserve to be displayed or accessible :) I do have a lot of regular old writing journals, planners, and bullet journals too though so I would understand putting old JJs away, especially if they have personal writings in them that you wouldn’t want to show to friends. I keep my old regular writing journals and bujos in memorabilia boxes so I have shelf space for new creations. But I do try to keep all of my memorabilia boxes organized and easily accessible for when I want to look back on them.

Joie, thank you so much for showing us your organizing and ‘keeping it real’. So many of us crafters get overwhelmed with not knowing what to put where. Last December I was lucky enough to have a friend spend a week with me and get my total disaster of a craft room pulled together. I am still getting used to seeing the floor! There is more work that needs to be done, fine tuning systems and being able to let go of more things that I will probably never use. I will rewatch this video and take notes, especially on the book organizing. My local library regularly puts old, worn out books in the trash. It is so hard to leave them. Thanks again for showing us behind the scenes. I would love to see more of how you have your room set up

I use ring binders with a4 plastic wallets for my digitals usually in each Maker. I cut some up ready to use and these are in individual bags in a basket. (I had kept them in their relevant wallets but the folder gets too full)
Enjoyed this video plus yr others. Thank you.
I did wonder what people did with their junk journals so I'm glad at 71yrs I've not got 50 years worth! I've only got the large one I started this year.
I've got far too much stuff n seem to be sorting n tidying n watching videos, instead if crafting!? Very overwhelming.

I appreciate your honesty so much. It's not easy to share our personal challenges. For myself, I've found that having too much of anything actually reduces my ability to be creative. As much as I LOVE old books, I've realized that if I have to many of any particular type, I can't make myself use any of them, so I try to keep the volume down. I have one Spanish/English dictionary, One volume of Russian font, one large Atlas, ONe pocket size atlas, ONE nature book of large glossy pages that includes botanicals and animals, and just two or three small old music collections (which are harder for me to use than the other books). I have two or three books that are wonderfully old, aged and yellowed, but until I've used them, I'm not allowing myself to purchase any more. In my case, too much of a good thing is still too much. I love what you create with all the treasures you have, and I'm grateful for your sharing them with us. But I have to ask....if you didn't buy another book or digital, how long would it take you to use what you already have? That is the question I would ask myself moving forward. At what point do you decide that if something "new" is coming into your space, something else has to be removed? Or is that even part of your thinking process? I found that for me, it had to be part of my process or the creative flow just stopped and I went for months without touching anything.

    • @joiedefi
      @joiedefi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

That thinking has indeed been part of my thought process for some time. I have pretty much stopped buying books, I receive some items as kind gifts, I am trying very actively to reduce what I have. I think I am reaching a point of doing a real declutter. Great question. 👍🥰

You sharing with us your craft room, made me feel so happy to know I’m not alone. I have so much stash it is definitely overwhelming. Thank you so much for keeping it REAL! I call myself “ the junk journal hoarder” LOL! I am embarrassed to show my craft room. I used to have my craft room out in the back yard, my hubby built me a tough shed, it was only 10’X10’ and I outgrew it so one year I got organized and moved everything into the spare bedroom. Where my hubby built it to my very special space. I am in need of a purge for sure! I send out happy mail boxes every month, but seriously it never makes a dent! This is all so familiar : ) I have started collaging the outside of my boxes with items that represent what is in it. Uses up bits and pieces, looks interesting on my shelves, stops me guessing what is in the box, etc. I have large plastic envelopes to put my digitals in so that I can see what is inside. These large plastic envelopes have a snap... I cut them off with my craft knife so they stand flat against each other in a larger bin. Your ideas always inspire me and you have a lovely calming voice and demeanor. Thank you for starting my day off with inspiration. Cheers!

Yep…you are my junk journal paper lover soul sister. This video is honest and real. Tips: similar to your art book pre made covers, maybe a series of scientific, botanical, floral, bird, or literature themed covers? Scrapbook papers can be used for other art projects like mixed media or torn and cut into pieces to create collage art. You could also bundle and sell some of your envelopes, pockets, pre made covers, etc. as “supplies” for journal makers who may not have access to the wonderful stash of goodie’s you have collected! And a big Hooray shout out to your wonderful partner who understands why this world of paper loveliness makes you so happy!💖🎨📚🙏🥰

Hello from Alberta, Canada! Here's some things I do:
Paper you longer use, like, etc. donate to a school/after school program/art therapy program. This goes for other supplies you no longer use or never used but bought because you thought you needed them! Lol!
I like that you are using boxes, bins, bags, etc. instead of going out and buying high priced matchy-matchy stuff for organization.
I don't have alot of digital but I use a hanging folder with dividers to separate them. As its letter sized it sits on a shelf.
Shoe boxes/photo boxes and their lids are great for long scraps and strips. Lids make them easy to stack. Both these boxes and lids are great for storing ribbon on rolls or cards, snippet rolls, button cards, sewing notions. The lids are great for washi tape as well.
I use an over-the-door shoe hanger to hold craft items and punches.
Really enjoyed the tour! I'm envious that you have a craft room. I live in an apartment so some of my stuff is stored all around! Take care. Have fun being creative. Thanks for a great channel!

I’m desperate to get at my craft room. I smashed my ankle and after 3 months I can finally climb the stairs so I can soon get into it to get it sorted. I’d just started! It’s been frustrating but at the same time my concentration is nowhere to be found so I reckon it’ll be Autumn before hubby lets me up and down the stairs alone - he’s been nurse cook cleaner carer etc etc so I owe him that. I’m hoping to take part in junk journal July but It will be just bits that are around me. A real junk journal! Thank you for this video, I’d love to see some more. 😊💐

Thank you for another great video, and yes please share more of these organizing videos. All of us have different ways to organize our stuff that works for us. And for me it’s a perpetual work in progress. I had to pack up ALL of my craft studio. We’re redoing hard wood floors,;painting and replacing trim on windows etc. All of my stuff is in tubs. As I was packing, sorting and yes getting rid of some things, I realized when I unpack I need to rethink my layout. What works for me probably won’t work for everybody And visa versa. It’s interesting to watch and see how others organize and we all take away new and better ideas from each other. As I said before, your timing is perfect right now for me. Thanks Joie ❤️❤️

I craft on my lap, in my living room, with craft supplies in a bookcase, a closet, and in a hallway! Oh my... your tips are great-- big clear envelopes, small boxes. Here is one I use; I string my washi tapes on an 8 or 9 inch string organized by colors and tie the string ends together (forming a circle). i can grab a tape string, snip off the tape lengths I want without tapes rolling on the floor or under the table...or across the room.

I use a recycled aluminum foil box to store my washi tape. I remove the empty roll and put the large rolls of washi tape on a wooden skewer and place them in the box. The edge of the aluminum foil box cuts the tape when you pull it down over the edge of the box just like the aluminum foil cuts.

First off, thanks for being real. When I have beautiful old books like Robin Hood that I am about to cut up I read them first. It makes me happy to use them as intended then I feel I can let them go to journals. I have probably 300 pages of printed digitals. The best I have been able to do is divide them into focal points (tags, cards, bands) and substrates for the backs of these pages. It’s not working. In the don’t judge category I have 500 rolls of washi that I keep in acrylic drawers from Michael’s. It’s in color order and it makes me happy. Some people collect pens or paints or sprays but I’m a washi woman. PS I find your voice so relaxing!

I love crafting with paper but only when my hobby allows me being in control of my surrounding space. When i accumulated too much materials, instruments and finished and unfinished projects, i started on my journey. To make it work for my need of tidiness and my need for easy access to all i use to satisfy my urges for creativity. Access had to be intuitive like in a department store. It took me several years to figure all this out. My solution was artfully decorated with my craft containers with lids (i.e. stackable) that i build myself to fit exactly the spaces i have for putting it all in, under, and on top after my craft sessions. What is a container? It is a lot of interior and inside surfaces which i decorate with my art. The beauty is that with my skills improving, i can paint all the boxes over with primer and layer on top my better art. And so on. The spaces are these: some in craft room’s huge cabinet with doors, some under armoire and such otherwise unused niches. Outside my storage containers are not colourful, they are matching style of my furniture, but inside i can go crazy brave. I build my storage boxes sturdy - with cardboard, wooden pieces and duck tape, all covered with napkins, diluted school glue and interior paint from construction store and then decorated. The result is a peaceful and tidy house with a lot (a lot!) of secret spaces that not only contain sources of my creative happiness but also themselves are pieces of art that have purpose and useful function.

While I am brand new to journal making, I'm a crafter and maker and avid treasure collector and keeper of things. Organizing is SUCH and ongoing challenge that needs constant revisiting and reassessing. I think your collection is amazing! Practicing my newfound love of papercraft, I've been putting my trials into signatures, wrapping them up in a practice journals and giving them away to friends and neighbours. They love them. I bet your fans would love to participate in giveaways of curated boxes of your handmade ephemera and you could certainly sell big boxes of assorted bits & bobs as a de-stash bargain. Ignore any pressure you might put on yourself to sell or make money back (i struggle with financial guilt big time)- I've found a huge reward in giving things away. It hurts me more knowing things are not being enjoyed. There are also a few Street Libraries around me and so I make a point of putting some of my handmade bookmarks & tags in the library as a gift to people who contribute. Sometimes I leave envelopes with little treasures tucked in or other stationary bits I've made too. When i get around to actually assembling more small journals, I will pop those in there too. They always get scooped up even if not perfect. :) Thanks for sharing and being vulnerable with us! It is SO SO SO SO good to see other people's spaces, it helps me relax and feel less pressured and to enjoy the entire process of arting :)

I’m living in my family home, since I was 10 years old. I’m 73 now. My mother sold encyclopedia’s for years and we got a new set every year. She was a librarian at a mid school and in her second career at a high school. Each summer we got the rejects. I have nine children so their books are here also. I tried inventory but 2,467 I got overwhelmed. I need to downsize and declutter. I have empty bedrooms but full of books and craft overspill. The gator’s are coming for me.

joke, this is the best organization video I have seen! I liked hearing your thoughts on why you organized the way you did. Anything else you want to share about your craft space is welcome! I found It interesting you watch your own videos to refresh your memory about how you’ve done something. That is a good tip! Keeping samples are good reminders too, like you said. I’ve made only a few journals to give away and have only one I kept and it was my first. When my sister saw it, she said what is it and what are you going to do with it? I was offended, but got over it because she’s not a crafter and of course wouldn’t know what it was! I am a card maker. I don’t generally keep examples of my cards, instead I photograph a sampling. But recently I came across a small stack of different types of cards I made. It was fun looking at them and I plan to make more of those! I don’t remember why I had made such a variety! I make usually about 70 cards at a time. That’s about how many Christmas cards I make for friends and family. I make cards for a nursing home for holidays and special events and that’s about the number I need for that too. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and incorporate some of your ideas into my cards. I am making cards for a card drive for the town of Uvalde that a favorite TH-camr is heading up. Her name is Bitty Penny if you have any spare encouragement cards leftover from your card making says! I’m also planning to make folios for the families members of the Uvalde tragedy victims that will have spots for photos of their deceased loved ones. That may be too ambitious for me! Thanks again for sharing all of your ideas with us! I hope you have a good week!

I have barely begun to collect things. Seeing your supplies was like looking into a candy store. It was fun. I have about 10 skinny to half-inch rolls of washi tape and a few rolls of ribbon and lace, so my husband adapted a 3-sectioned plastic silverware tray with dowels for me to put those rolls on. First, thanks for sharing. As you say, you allowed yourself to be vulnerable - knowing it would be helpful to others. Secondly, ignore the negative comments that are sure to come. Those come from unhappy people and you don't need to own their issues. You are appreciated by the majority of your subscribers - that's what matters.
If space allowed it, books should be on shelves making them easily accessible. Murphy's Law: the book you want will always be on the bottom of the pile.
Please get your journals out of boxes. Find a way to display them so they can be enjoyed.
Instead of cardboard boxes, consider clear storage bins (all the same size) that are stackable. That will free up floor space, look better, be more organized, and protect the contents.
File cabinets make organizing paper so much easier.
There are plastic totes made for storing scrapbook paper and digitals. You could have a tote or two for each designer, some for holding a project in process or papers for specific future projects. They're also good for storing themes. Again, they are stackable.
A bureau of drawers repurposed makes for easily accessible, organized supplies.
A rolling craft cart with drawers containing basic, frequently used supplies, can be pulled out from under your desk when you are working, and pushed back under when you're not.
Have you thought of making journal kits to sell on Etsy? You certainly have enough resources to make them. Newbies love those since they don't have a stash built up
As I watched all your videos a couple weeks ago, I often wondered what was surrounding you in the room. Again, thank you for being authentic and opening up our view into your personal space. That courage is recognized and appreciated. 👍🙂

My new husband (methodical, consistent) has been such a great help in organizing our home where I've lived for two years already (ADHD, sporadic) but when we came to the crafty area he asked for a comprehensive tour of my supplies so we could plan storage. Yup, we only went halfway through before his massive brain had reached saturation. Nowadays, he just wants a clear enough approach to come and give me kisses on occasion.
My space is a lot more organized than it used to be thanks to a large filling cabinet and freezer-weight (heavy) Ziploc bags like Gail Agostinelli uses.

Thank you for sharing with us! I too struggle with where to put all the stuff I have. Seems like I am always finding new storage ideas but when I try them, they just fall short. So much money spent. You have confirmed that I don't need more storage, just a more structured way to sort them to make them easier to find.

Hi Joie, I’m watching this video for the second time! 😂 I remembered you had some great organisational ideas. What is striking me tonight is how prolifically you create. I am also amazed, again, by what a gift you have for pattern and form. I admire the way you put patterns, colours and images together. When I watch you create it all just seems to flow together so naturally. Your envelopes /pouches , stored in the ‘wallet’, are just amazing. It was great to get a ‘sneak peek’ of so many of your creations. I really do think you are an amazing creator! Long May it be so.

What a great post! Loved seeing how you organize. I faced the same dilemma. If I pay $1 for a box of books headed for the recycler, and find a few unique or slightly valuable volumes mixed in, should those be disassembled?
You made a wonderful post about 4 aspects of craft tools on a graph with four boxes (so useful!), so that was my inspiration for these 4 considerations.
    1. Copies - is this super-rare? Is it freely available online?
    2. Who WANTS this book? Most reading charities or schools here will not accept any library discards, books of old maps, vintage travel books, or vintage children's books no matter how pristine; funds are preferred. Does anyone other than junk journal creators want an old, old copy of "Heidi" with a gorgeous cover?
    3. Cost - Is the book I have selling for more than $15 and if so, what condition? Is my book in acceptable or better condition? Do I want to become a bookseller? (Not really.)
    4. Content, or potential. Is this content still useful? Will it help anyone? Should it be cast back into the world to reach someone else, like a delightful message in a bottle? I wonder if that is an effective strategy.
These 4 things have helped me decide what to do with most of the books I have come across. I hope it helps someone else.
    Thanks for this video!

Lisa, those are brilliant questions that, in retrospect, I've been sort of asking myself all along but somewhat more informally. Sadly books are becoming - for the most part - a "was" and, like you said, institutions would rather have monetary donations. I look at it as giving books a second (at least) life and releasing it back into the world. Thank you for laying out your questions so beautifully. Hugs from the Southern California desert, MK

Good morning, Joie. I look forward to seeing what you do with those obscure shaped animal book pages (the ones in the binder on your top shelf).. I have an entire collection(7) that my mom bought for my daughter. Mom taught me how to recycle Christmas cards when I was 9 and I've been crafting ever since. If she were still alive, she'd be having a blast in the paper crafting world.
Have you thought about book ends to keep a few journals on display from falling over? Even a couple of bricks then your trays would sit on top of the bricks. My husband put a shelf above the door into my studio to put a few of my journals. Also, if you have some that might be seasonal, display them in their season around your house then pack away with the rest of the seasonal decor.
Now that I'm technically done with Stampin' Up! I can rearrange my craft area. I have bins I bought to organize current SU consumables I can use to corral current scraps I can work with along the back of my table at the ready for video projects.
I'm working on mine over the next 2 weeks - hopefully making sense of the ugly truth. LOL Hugs and Creative Blessings!

I love washi tape/ribbon and lace ...I have banned myself from buying anymore until I have used what is in my stash! I have recently just bought some CD wallets to keep my small/themed scraps in. Jumping from one project to another without finishing the other can bring a creative block! so I try not to start a new project before finishing off! My work table can become overcrowded which hampers creativity so I do make myself do regular tidy ups! Rainy weekends are good for spending time to use what is in your stash! I am fortunate to have a room dedicated to my arts and crafts. I'm a brand new artist and have dabbled, over the past 3 years, in everything from alcohol ink to mandala art, and now onto junk journals. I try hard to clean off my desk with every project, but it can certainly clutter up very quickly. Needless to say, I have lots of stuff too...:). Thank you for this video. It helps, as I collect more stash, to realize the importance of organization. BTW your videos have really helped me with the courage to start an actual journal. I love the process of making ephemera and plan to construct one soon. Thank you for sharing your beautiful art. You are a true inspiration! Sandra, USA.

Amazing how the longer we've been creating, the more stuff we manage to accumulate. For me, between inheriting items and finding wonderful treasures at thrift stores and estate sales, I have a boatload of paper collected over the last 45 years. Perfect timing👍I just suffered losing internet and phone and TV. The police scanner was all of our lifeline for three days. I had zero desire to craft we had no way to reach anyone and I could not even settle enough to craft so my craft room was seen in a very different light. I decided to rip into it. Pull the band aid off type cleaning. I had rescued a huge amount of books from going to the trash and I lived in fear of falling over piles of everything I was trying to save. I made a box of what I thought the other thrift store would take. I still have that box in my car. I made a huge stack of books and magazines that I ripped into and was brutal. Day four when the internet came back I decided this type of you tube was just what I needed to keep going. I have seen your lights and perfect desk.... I am so very thankful that you showed your beginning point. I have to wonder how I got to this point. If I don't I will be right back at the beginning. 😪. Thank you Joie for showing us not just letting us see the end. I think I will be watching again and again till I get it right. Laura

I’m at the same point of feeling overwhelmed with my craft studio spilling into my living space. Watching you assess your space helped me think through some of our common issues. One thought I had was that we need to consider vertical space and perhaps install as many wall shelves as possible rather than relying on piles of books on the floor. That would make our books more easily accessible…I just adore those old books as well! I like you thought too to put the most frequently used materials lower and the more precious and less used materials higher up. I have also just bought a dozen large clear plastic envelopes to sort and store my papers to make them more easily accessible. I’m thinking of sorting them either by colour or type-haven’t quite decided which yet. Thanks for sharing your journey.
