- I have had my small creative business for about 2 years now and until recently I worked from my small city apartment in my living room. I’m very fortunate to now have my own craft room in a more quiet and green area of Vienna and I’m excited to share my journey with you!

You are the only person I know who could produce a video about packing and unpacking that is soothing and relaxing (even though I know the process was most likely not completely soothing or relaxing for you 🥹). This was lovely and I am so very happy for you. ☺️😃

Barbara, you are amazing. So calm about the damaged shelf. I know how much they cost so the movers have insurance to take care of those kinds of things. I absolutely LOVE your room. The view, the lighting, the shape, the ease of access to lots of walls for storage like your bookshelf. I know you are in heaven right now with this new and larger space. You deserve it dear. Love the way you store things also. Just a tip I learned about storing stencils. Use a binder with clear sleeves and you can see everything you have. Also for clear stamps, just stamp on a file folder, punch holes for a binder and you can just flip through. I learned from Ceri the Crafter if you want to see more. I love mine now. It is tedious to get everything back the way you want it or in a new place. I am so sad that the movers damaged your craft closet. They should pay you for the damages that incurred. Barbara, everything you do is so artistic -- even packing up and then putting away art supplies! I love the respect you show for your 'tools.' And I too like using vintage boxes and tins for storage. Looking forward to sharing many more creative adventures in your new studio!
Dearest Barbara. I have 28 boxes of Art supplies last time I moved. I will move house again in two months. I probably have about 35 now. It is so incredible how the Un- packing process is therapeutic and fun! Take your time and enjoy every day of it. It actually takes months to get it right. I am so very happy for you!! What a beautiful space! You should frame some of your beautiful pieces of art and make a special place for them on your walls. So sorry your beautiful storage unit was damaged. You should contact the moving company as they should have insurance to cover either repair or new. 🙁

Speaking as someone who has moved over 30 times, you definitely need to contact your moving company. They will take care of this.
Congrats on the new apartment. Now you have a room with a view! What a beauty!! Big hugs to you for the damage to your dream box. I actually gasped when I spied that because it’s the toolbox of your business. Moving is exhausting and one of the most stressful times of your life. Be kind to yourself because it’s very close to finished.
Well the lighting from that window is just as gorgeous as the view. I could never afford one of those storage units so I bought cabinets from Ikea and they work great. Also they are not as big and come with casters so they can move anywhere I want them with ease. I'm sure your in a hurry to get set up but sometimes you have to take 2 steps back to move forward. Please have them replace the damaged unit. Send them estimates of the cost to find a replacement from the same company you bought it from. Most movers carry insurance for the move. Should be a no brainer. 😊

Ohh I am sorry they damaged your craft box. I have moved from California to Japan to Maine, back to California then Colorado and finally to Florida and have had things broken, lost and stolen. But have survived the moves so I am sure you will be ok . I really enjoy your crafting journals you do inspire me so much, you live in a beautiful country. Thank you so much for sharing.👏👏😄💝💝💝
Hi barbara. To hide the cables there is one thing name "cable shield cord cover" . If you search "wood" too, you can find one with a print that matches your floor.

Barbara: great room. My white parson work table is in the middle of my craft room. I just walk over the cords. I don’t allow anyone in my studio anyway, so it doesn’t make a difference. My studio is a sacred place. Just for me. However, I don’t do videos either.
I unplug everything before I leave to save on the energy bill.

In my art room, I have an art line. I took a heavy twine and strung it along one of the walls. I clip on favorite pieces I have received in happy mail with a small clothes pin. I can change it out as I want. Love your space!!!!

My desk is in the center of the room as well. I keep a rug over the wires so I can walk around my desk without tripping over them. So happy for you, Barbara. It's so satisfying when you have a place for everything and everything is in its place. It's a great craft room. Enjoy!
This is going to be your workplace and inspiration factory from now on so invest in the furniture you need - I love that you have already installed a plant on your bookshelf, so calming and mirrors the green outside your window. I’ve been wondering how the move was going. I’m so sorry about the damage to your shelf unit. But, I LOVE your room. Omg, what a wonderful view. Wow!! Just a suggestion for the cord issue, you could run an extension cord with power cord that has multiple plug ins, for under your desk,. Maybe a throw a rug over the cord to prevent tripping etc. ??? I did so love to see you unpacking, so many of your tags etc were familiar to see because we watched you make them . It is a lot of work, but it’s reminiscent of times gone by as well., so many memories right? Hang in there, it looks fantastic.

Congrats on the beautiful new craft room! As for the cables, you can by covers for them that are similar in color to your floor, or you can cover them with a heavy rug

I'd love to see what your kitchen looks like. Kitchens are so different in Europe than America. I'm sorry your cabinet got broken. Those are not cheap! Maybe the company who made it could help.
Definitely contact your moving company and put in a claim of enough money for you to buy a new “scrap box”. Maybe even contact “scrap box” and explain what happened because you are certainly a happy customer and you reach thousands of potential customers for them.

What a wonderful space! Congrats on your new home and having your own amazing craft room. My room is similarly laid out, and I have my main table in the center. I also have hard wood, and I stand while crafting so I put down an interlocking foam rubber mat on the floor. It is like what you might see in a kids room or playroom minus the bright primary colors. I bought it at Lowe’s, a big hardware chain store here in the US. The mats provide cushion and also cover the cords that I taped down, first. There is a slight hump, but it isn’t an issue. Not sure if that would work for you, but thought I would mention it. We moved last year so I feel your pain:) Sending hugs from KY.

You could run the cords up the wall and across the ceiling and have them drop down over the table. Just put them thru a tube like pvc pipe so it is clean and then no trip hazard. It was how I used to do displays at work. Not sure if this is possible for your needs but possibly. Thank you for the video and I really enjoy your space. Such a beautiful view.

Your very organized so you will have it I ship shape in no time 😀 Will you do a window treatment to make the most of your beautiful view but also give warmth to the room? I thought I learned that light is to fall over your left shoulder when doing hand work so you won't have a shadow. So to sit on the other side of the table. I like the idea the other lady had of contacting electrican.

Just a personal preference but I would have that long table under the window so I could be looking out. I have bird feeders outside my window.

I can totally relate to moving my craft room. I had 32 boxes, labeled and listed with what was in each box. I moved 850 miles south. When they were unloading the truck, one guy said, "not another box for the craft room!!" Then I moved again but this time it was only 10-15 miles and I have a huge room just for my studio. I have been active in paper crafting for over 30 years. Time flies when I craft so I have a clock visible from my desk. I only used half of the room for the first couple years but then I started junk journaling and I've had to take over the other half!! Now both desks are a mess! Enjoyed looking at your lovely space.

You’ve worked very hard on your move and so organized I would have just boxed up the drawers in the boxes and hoped I remembered were they all go. LOL

It's so enjoyable watching your creative process... whatever you're doing, Barbara! We have had to move out of our house and are staying in a temporary house in the neighborhood while our home is being repaired. I was only able to bring a fraction of my craft stuff. We had movers to pack (thank God!). My craft room was 270 boxes!! I know... I have a lot of stuff... I'm sure unpacking will be an adventure!

What a beautiful space you will have. So sorry the storage unit was damaged. I have my printers and scanner against the wall with a USB hub to plug them into. Then I have a USB extension and a power strip cord across the floor to my desk. First I tried a power cord cover but that kept curling up and was a tripping hazard. I got a pretty rug to put over the cord and that works great. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished room.

Get a power strip so you just have one or two cord going across the floor. Then a rug over it.

There are rubber runners that are raised so cords can be under them without putting wear and tear on the cords. You can walk on it and it won’t hurt your cables

When we all had to teach online I wanted to be by the window but it was too hot and the light interfered when I used a document camera. I moved my desk a few feet away and used a floor rug to hide the cords. It was lumpy but looked nice from the door. I didn’t walk much over there so it worked for me. It also helped ensure that I didn’t trip. :0)

But...how clumsy of the movers to break your craft closet! I hope you reported it and that you'll get a discount for that.

I love seeing your process of organizing. So sad to your craft closet was broken during the move; hope it gets fixed. I have my desk in the middle of my craftroom and I got an outlet tower and it powers all of my electronics so it's only one cord that goes to the outlet. I hide the cord under a rug which also give the room a new textrue on the floor.
Love your new craft room! The moving company should reimburse you for the broken parts!
