A love story for those who want to move on but find it hard to let go.
Jean wants to convert her house into a home office and she needs to majorly declutter and reorganise her entire house. Anything that has been lying around unused, she just simply throws all. However, Jean faces a great challenge when she comes across some items that belonged to Aim, her ex-boyfriend. Although she has no use for the items, each one reminds her of a story that brings back memories, along with unresolved feelings that cannot be easily discarded by just dumping them into the garbage bag. Jean has to decide what to do with Aim’s stuff. Should she just throw everything, keep everything, or return the items to their rightful owner to clear them completely from her house and her heart?

Here's my personal opinion about the film. :)
I think personally what is most heartbreaking about this film, is that we see the character of Jean trying and failing to right the wrongs she has done and deal with the baggages of her family's past. The realistic characterisation of Jean makes us able to strongly reflect on our own acts of selfishness we weren’t wary about. And by the end we see her as being defeated and decidedly suppressing herself of any emotions, replying back to her friend almost like a robot.
The film has also alot to do with the idea of the minimalist aesthetic if you think about it. Jean represents a younger generation that idealises a lifestyle of minimal attachments which bleeds into their preference of simple interior designs, but also in how they inform their own identities of detaching from traditional sentiments. One good example is when Jean goes for her job interview and we see the office to be of minimalists design that has universal appeal, but is one that is devoid of any relation to it's location (meaning that this office could have been anywhere in the world, and we wouldn't have known that's Thailand). Another evidence is in the language that the interviewer mainly speaks, which is in English although he is Thai and only briefly speaks his own mother tongue.
This becomes the total opposite with her mother, representing an extreme behaviour of sentimentality by cluttering the entire house with belongings and even the piano, which is by no accident used to represent the historical pain of the family and their burden (with its size). Both Jean and her mother represents two different extremes and it's because of this environment, that shapes Jean to be the person she is (and maybe one of the reasons why she left to study overseas in the first place) and obsessively wants to renovate the entire house.
It's simple to merely deduce Jean to be of someone selfish in nature, but i believe this selfishness was propagated by her father leaving and this shows how family scars can manifests into oneself. If anything i can only empathise for a character like Jean and i am thankful that the film was daring to give us an unresolved conclusion, to remind us of how modernity has changed how we define our identities, highlighting the widening riff between the old and new generation and how life doesn’t always work the way we want it to be.

While most people saw it as a romantic movie and highlight how Jean meet her ex, I found it more than that. It's the whole journey of how Jean knowing herself better and fixing all the misunderstanding she always tried to deny.
Very underated thai movie that could be one of the best so far.
I was trapped watching this film casually and finished to cry my heart out at the end.
This films was kept in my head for couple days and I keep asking myself many questions about my past, presence and future.
Everybody can effectively relate to this film which talks about our past that become a part of our presence for sure. However, when we keep every memories with us how we will move on to a next step. If we keep everything we would become like Jean's Mother who seems always suffering with the injured past. Because some old memories can come back and hurt us badly.
There is no correct answer which is the best choice between dumping or keeping everything. Each person need to figure this out themselves.
I also can't dump my things, even I don't need it anymore. Everything hold memory, I can't just dump them

This movie is so underrated and deep. I love it so much. But the ending was a bit "hanging" for me. The last scene made me feel very bad for Jean's character. Perhaps there's part 2? Maybe? What I learnt from it was:
- There's no such thing as bad memories.
- You can't just simply dump everything as you pleased. Letting go is not always about leaving or throwing everything behind.
- We all have different adaptation in life situations, you can't expect people have the same way as yours.
- Don't run away from your past, try to face it. It's ok to turn back.
- Apologies while you still can. Forgiveness comes from both sides.
- Don't say sorry if it's just for your own forgiveness. Being selfishly-sorry is just an act to pass down the guilty to the other person.
- Just because you already have moving on, don't force other people to do the same when they're yet to be ready. Their time sure will come one day.

Happy Old Year left me with an aching feeling. I've always love Asian movies, from Korean to Japanese..and now transitioning to Thai.
Watch Bad Genius. It’s good and happy 😊
Bad Genius is starred by the girl. Heart Attack is starred by the guy. The guy has a variety of good films, but they are usually silly. Sometimes the plot doesn’t make sense but you gotta tolerate that. They are mostly comedy. If you want a nearly perfect film, watch Bad Genius! If you want comedy, watch his film: I Fine Thank You Love You, Heart Attack and Mr Hurt. Another film, which you should not miss, is HELLO STRANGER! Very funny too!
I watched this movie on netflix at midnight. damn.. this movie was amazing. I've been in Jane position and I can relate her so much. her family relationship with her father, and her ex-boyfriend. I can feel what Jane have been through. glad I watched this movie at the right time
has feel in this movie. Same as Jean, my family and my friends do not want to dump their old stuff, make their room dirty and filthy 😕

just saw this and what is being advertised more heavily is the love story, but the story with the family is much more interesting. i really enjoyed it.
Just watched it. I'm pleasantly surprised of how good it is. The trailer tries to frame it as "trying to get back to ex" but that's really far from it. It's way better than that.
They're going to regret it so much after they've gone through their life and wants to look bad.
There's no such thing as "bad memories". In the end, they're all just parts of what makes us who we are.
I felt nostalgic just by watching the trailer. And its new seeing sunny in this type of movie!
This is the second time Sunny working with this director. Watch Heart Attack (2015) for his first time in this type of movie. It's one of the best I saw from GTH production back then.

I went to see this movie yesterday at the Rotterdam Film Festival, and I must say I really liked it. Good atmosphere. My wife just cried all through the movie 😄. Well made and I had my picture taken with the director of the movie 😀.
How is the end? Sad or happy?
That actually depends on which character your symphathy has. The movie (for me at least) is about the choice between keeping old things and ways on the one hand or throwing old stuff away in favor of progress on the other hand. The movie makes it very clear why we like to kling to old stuff. It's about memories and feelings and respect for the elder. There's a lot of emotion attached to many things. But progress is also neccesary at some point and if you keep everything you can drown in the mess. It's a hard-fought and heart-fought battle, and in the end one wins. The end was not a real happy ending, but also not really sad imho. There is a lot to laugh and cry about all through the movie. Worth watching imho.

Watched it yesterday. Actually, I just watched this movie for Sunny as he is my favourite Thai actor. The acting was good but the ending was kinda dull. I expected more from the ending. But overall, it's a good watch. Sunny & Chutimon nailed their role perfectly especially Chutimon as she had more screen time. The scene where she fights with her mom was very well acted. Overall, I suggest this movie.

Happy Old Year vient d'arriver ce jour sur Netflix France, je me suis lancée sans connaître les sujets et c'était comme si ce film était fait pour moi, j'ai commencé il y a peu de temps à me débarrasser de tout, ça me trottait dans la tête depuis un certain temps sans même savoir que le mouvement minimaliste existait. Je suis sur cette voie pour les mêmes raisons que traitées dans le film et surtout de faire table raze d'un passé qui s'accroche à moi comme un coquillage à son rocher. Les objets souvenirs que l'on garde peuvent être des poisons qui nous bouchent le futur. Étonnantes coïncidence d'être tombée sur cette perle qui m'a fait sourire, rire et pleuré.
Pour la fin du film je pense que Jean accueille toute la culpabilité de ses actes passées y compris lorsqu'elle édulcore la réalité lorsqu'elle répond à son amie et réciproquement le mal qu'on a pu lui faire. Jean est tout simplement en train de grandir et finalement nous lui ressemblons tous.

Yes, this is an underrated film. Tried to watch it on Netflix but it took me a couple of days and long pauses. Makes you reflect. So far, this is the only film I will allow myself to watch to feel hurt again hahahaaha!

At the end when Jean said she and Aim are now friend, and Aim has got over her and move to Singapore with his new girlfriend, is she lying? I mean clearly Aim doesn't forgive her for what she's done to him. Aim broke up with his new girlfriend and move to Singapore alone. Jean is clearly lying to make herself feel better and live her life without guilt. Remember what Aim said "People see what they want to see. People remember what they want to remember." What do you think?
In my personal idea, I saw that the movie suggests that though Jean' s wrong deed is to move on her (sorrow-from-estrayed father) life without caring about anyone's feelings, the consequences depress her and remind her of apology which never healed others' past depression of what she had done.
@@nobitaname I think she has accepted that she is selfish and she has to live with the consequences of selfishness. She felt the pain at the end. Anyway, my interpretation is that she lied to her friend about Jean at the end. She wants to dump Jean without the feeling of guilt and move on with her life.
Staying away from the people we deeply hurt is the biggest favor we could do for them. If they reach out to you, then good. But if they don't, let them have their peace. No one is entitled to forgiveness, everyone has a right to heal in their own way. You really can't decide whether a person is still hurt or not.
I think that she said that to make herself better. And try to forget the truth. She is egoist and I think that she accepted it because she did bad to her mom just after.
She is just trying to escape the culpability as Aim say before. The culpability of hurting others and the culpability of throwing the passed she shared with others. She is very weak and realistic as she couldn't do it herself at the very end
The concept of this movie is very great and I appreciate how it shown the difficulty of forgetting the past. I would not have thrown everything since some of them are part of my past which is part of me.
