    Have you made any nostalgia based purchases lately?

    • @comicsfan1973

      I did buy Suske en Wiske stories that were printed in Finland (Anu ja Antti) but the art was redrawn here. The book I bought has the original art in colors. Les aventures de Bob et Bobette patrimoine 1945-1947.

      I had the first 4 Ranma mangas when I was 15-20 years old. At that time, I was used to see action characters fighting for serious reasons. But Ranma was all ridiculous and funny.
      Now in my forties I got the full collection, thirty-something mangas in total, and is all worth it.
      Cheers from México!

      @@comicsfan1973 They redraw Anu ja Antti in Finland?! I wasn't aware of this. Do you mean they "corrected" some scenes(like with Italian Duck stories) or even more? I used to have a lot of these albums. If I remeber correctly they came monthly(?) through a book store subscription.

      @@SatomaArt Great story. When you have a deeper personal connection to stories from younger years they might give pleasure through all your life. And often they are hard or impossible to explain to others. For this same reason I enjoy some comics that most would consider outdated these days.

      @@analogcomics Not in Finland. Same as with Tintin. Old and new version.

    Concerning the Spanish ones: "El botones Sacarino" is the bellboy and the agents "Mortadelo y Filemón" work for la T.I.A. acronym that resembles a well known company, it translates as "Aunt". The latter comic is one of the most beloved comics in Spain ever. You have the tiny comic strips from early 60s/70s nevertheless I find the themed ones i.e. olympic games 92 or other events more fun. I recommend 'Superlopez', a satire of down to earth, struggling (Super)man and Four Fantastic very entertaining in my opinion.

      No doubt a travel in to the memory lane. Those Spanish characters were called Mortadelo e Salaminho in my country and I’ve read some of them. Yes, very entertaining but also as you mentioned, a kind of a replacement for the francophone cousins. Hope you continue to get well soon. Best wishes 👍

      Seems the creator was very productive. I remember reading so many albums. The ones that were translated to Finnish were all with a certain theme.

      @@eduardocarvalho861For me both the strenght and the weak ess of these stories is the over-the-top silliness. Reminds me of Naked Gun movies. Some days they are too much and some days I can’t help but laugh. 😅

      @@analogcomics Indeed, he was very prolific , first Mortadelo show up in 1958 (January) and last one in April 2024 - 66 years drawing 'Mortadelo y filemon' comics, not a bad run!

    Yikes, sounds like you went through a very rough time. I’m glad you’re feeling better!
    The Barks volume looks very nice, I love when extra material is included. I have several of the Barks volumes by Fantagraphics, they’re great but I hate the fact that the stories haven’t been published in chronological order. They’re all over the place! Anyway, great video as always. Thanks for creating it even though you’re not feeling 100% yet.

    • @analogcomics
      @analogcomics  หลายเดือนก่อน

      This Finnish series is not chronological either. The first issue had only stories that had never been published in Finland before. I'm not sure if they were planning to continue the series but it was popular so more volumes kept coming. Well made extras in collected editions are so tempting that I've thought of double dipping Blueberry just to get the extras.

      Aarne is the most cynical duck. I believe you'd like his self-inflicted misadventures. I also like how the creator bypassed Disneys' threats to change the character design.

    "Turrrkkuun" ! yes, I guess, I love Finnish even without Umlauts, rock on... and please: stay healthy! I have to admit I never heard of blood poisoning at all, but it sure makes sense for some nasty little bacteria to procreate there.

    • @analogcomics
      @analogcomics  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      YES! Hard angular(and often double) consonants between umlauts is the secrect sauce. I promised my wife this was the last time this year that I get hospitalized.🤞This is a promise even I'd like to keep.
      Blood poisoning usually starts from a small wound - even a papercut is enough. Whatever punctures your skin pushes in bacteria from your skin. Then it starts to multiple and grow and can take couple weeks before making itself known. I usually don't even care about small wounds but now I'm desinfecting them immediately😅

    Do something about subtitles?Ask TH-cam why they are not adding subtitles on there own?

    • @analogcomics

      There is automatic subtitles now. If you watched the video immediately when I published it then it is possible subtitles were missing. It takes a little time for TH-cam AI to do the transcription.

    "Botones Sacarino" is more than inspired by Gaston Lagaffe. Many of their gags are a completely ripoff of Gastón´s strips from Spirou Magazine.

    I'm glad you are feeling better.❤ Secret entrances in Mort & Phil to HQ is not not so much copied from James Bond, but rather Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD and Get Smart (TV series).🥸 Fournier😍.

    • @analogcomics
      @analogcomics  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! Yes, Bond never entered HQ through traffic signs😄 I saw there's a new Fournier/Spirou album coming out(or maybe out already). It might be the last one not translated yet? I'm more interested of the newer Spirous by different creator teams. I'd like to see the Fournier-era completed just to see how are they going to handle Spirou after that.
