It's real-time and turn-based. Enemies aren't going to wait for you to attack to attack you, since it's all real-time (for example, an enemy could kill you before you can heal if you aren't quick). You need to actively attack, heal, do whatever you must in battle to win and it takes a good deal of strategy if you're not terribly well-versed in the game.
I gotta say, even though I wasnt much a fan of the game overall, the music was just so hype, especially caius's theme and the final boss music. Also on another note, Caius's voice acting is jus oh my damn I love it.
I remember playing this part with maxed out characters, monsters and weapons. I thought to myself, "Well Caius ain't that bad after all". but when the 3 bahamuts came along, I thought to myself "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU......"
Them choosing 3 bahamuts was a really inspired choice for a final boss. Wasn't expecting that at all, and it was great. Also that last boss theme is stunning - Hamauzu's best work.

Be sure everyone is healthy or protected well before this attack! - Exaflare (all 3 Bahamuts) = instant death. Put the controller down and accept the agonizing defeat.
I can honestly say this was the most difficult boss I've played in a final fantasy game, he was worthy of the title. I went in with a fairly good party not knowing what to expect, had maybe 50 close calls, but somehow managed to prevail. Final time for the 3 bahamuts: 45 minutes. Epic.
"I don't care. I'm here to protect the future, and I will!" - that was actually pretty powerful. I mean, we know what happens - but as some of the fragment stories hint at.... there will likely be a XIII-3 that finishes the story of the fal'Cie, Caius, and the gods, and give us our happy ending.
From the future. Yes there is a third. But it's called Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. And tbh it's awesome gameplay. Story ends on a happy note.
Fights like these are so much more enjoyable to watch rather than play, because you can actually appreciate the battle and combat itself rather than staring at the stats constantly.
I don't know. Gigaflare is only an updated version of Megaflare. It's slightly powerful than the Megaflare, but weaker than the Terraflare (2 Bahamuts in play) and the Exaflare (3 Bahamuts in play). @Usayasha I read somewhere on the final fantasy wikia, that healing the l'cie status of the main six from XIII, let the magic seep out in the land or something, and people started to gain magic at times. Whatever that means. At least Noel isn't a l'cie.
I do not think the difficulty level has much to do with easily beating the final boss. I was on normal and found that the main plotline bosses were all relatively easy. There are plenty of areas to "train" and at this stage there are plenty of monsters to use. I got the Golden Chocobo from Noel's homeland, easily got it to max stats, and was able to plow through the final bosses in a little less time than this. I am now starting ff13 and I immediately see a difference with the fight difficulty.
Ugh and I swear that ALWAYS creeps me out, when your fighting a monster of THAT size, and they just STAND there taking the hits, because you just KNOW the counter attack is gonna be vicious.

@Usayasha I read somewhere on the final fantasy wikia, that healing the l'cie status of the main six from XIII, let the magic seep out in the land or something, and people started to gain magic at times. Whatever that means. At least Noel isn't a l'cie.
15:17 no, the meme
My favorite part is at 7:00......just love the back and forth
(Remember's fighting final boss last Feburary) Good times
I do not think the difficulty level has much to do with easily beating the final boss. I was on normal and found that the main plotline bosses were all relatively easy. There are plenty of areas to "train" and at this stage there are plenty of monsters to use. I got the Golden Chocobo from Noel's homeland, easily got it to max stats, and was able to plow through the final bosses in a little less time than this. I am now starting ff13 and I immediately see a difference with the fight difficulty.
That moment you hope Caius will really die and you wont need to face that Megaflare.
the design on the final boss is so sick
I like how Caius went (and succeded) to kill Serah in the first human fight, then went for Noel in his last human fight
Ive always wondered how Caius got Soul Edge
Only 3 achievements left.. The defeat raspatil at normal mode and ClockStopper achievement, wish me luck, full achievements here i come
That's why he is one of the greatest villains of FF! He is good and evil, despite that he wants to destroy time and fate!
