Easy for you to say. However. I moved on 20 years later where I deleted social media, never reached out and unfortunately my current friends found me and chose me and I kept a select few. Now my girlfriend has more friends than I do and I spend more time with them than my own. My girlfriend completes me in a way that she is attached to people in her life and where I moved on and have no one. If i didnt have my girlfriend I would not have anyone or any birthday parties to go to. Because I build my walls over the years from this shit.

I will not blow up a person's phone if they don't text me back. But when they do, I won't text them back immediately. Part of me wants to do the same thing to them. Eventually I try to understand and forgive them, but I can't help but have doubts about whether that person really respects me, or cares about me as much as I care about them. It fucking sucks.
Negus6 they were never friends if they didn't make you a priority in their lives as you did. (you called them "close" friends). For them you weren't as close as you thought about them, that's why they didn't regard you as close and cut off contact with you altogether. They themselves handed over the scissors to you to cut them off your life. Don't feel sorry or responsible for cutting them off.

One thing to note is if a person takes weeks/months to respond one or two things will happen. Either they get closer to you and you start texting almost every day/two/three days after awhile(This may take time). Or, they pull away, and start texting even less frequently and then stop altogether. Flaky people will go away on their own eventually for no reason. Only exception is when a person is using you for money in scenerio two.

I agree, it's okay for someone not to reply with in a day or two, but if they make a habit of not replying, or it gets to the point where you ask yourself "should I send them another text?" Don't! Because that person KNOWS you sent them a text, I don't beleive that a person can 'forget' that you texted them... If I had several people texting me at once, I will always make it my mission to get back to all of them. When someone says to your face to face "sorry I forgot to text you back," they are really bullshitting you.
It has become a repeated theme with several of my family members and idk what to do. I told my mother that they could not possibly forget about my existence and texts so frequently, while they respond to others just fine, but she makes excuses for them or shrugs it off. It’s so painful.

I just recently cut a friend off due to this because she makes no effort to stay in touch & doesn't text back. If she does it's stupid one word, two words or two sentences then after that will leave me hanging in the middle of a text conversation. When I ask her what happened, she tells me she got busy and that she'll call me or text and never does. This was on a consistent basis. So I gave up & if she calls me or texts me, I ignore her. Sometimes you have to treat people the way they treat you. How busy is anyone that you can't ever hang out or talk to stay in touch.
This is exactly why I hate Facebook & don't use it. Because you can always tell who is being a dick behind your back, & ignoring you when you send them messages... the "seen" sign appears, then the person doesn't reply. You feel like saying "what a dick."

Facebook is horrible for this. It really shows up how fake a lot of our “friends” are. I have unfriended numerous people for this reason. If they won’t reply to you why keep them as a friend?

I’m dealing with someone who a week earlier says they are comfortable talking to me and who I feel is becoming a close friend but the next week doesn’t reply to a text asking “I haven’t heard from you” and another “I hope you’re okay” and another “I hope you’re not sad over something”. Finally I call because I’m worried about them. They telling me ‘oh I thought I replied to your text” and not giving me any good reason why they didn’t reply to my text to seeing if THEY are okay. You really learn who really are your friends and care about you.

Sometimes people don't get back to you because you are a pain in the rump. I had a former friend like that, I really did not want to hurt her feelings but I stopped wanting to be associated with her because she was draining all my energy with her drama. Rather than be outright rude I chose to ignore her calls or if I did answer the phone and it was her I told her I was busy and then didn't call her back. But weeks later there she was with her drama again calling me. So probably in the end it would be better to just come right out and say look I don't want to hang with you anymore, I have enough drama in my own life and can't take yours too. If someone doesn't return my calls or text messages then I don't bother with them.

Usually when people don't text back? Depends who it is regardless? It could be either they're tied up or purposely ignoring the other person who texted them? Just to spitefully pissed them off on purpose by start worrying and leaving them high and dry. That person is not worth texting or worth your time. Move on and forget that person. You'll end up with disappointment in the end. That person doesn't give 2 Shits. They'll be teasing the person they're torturing. It's a common disease with most people. It's the same when certain girls (not all) give guys fake phone numbers that doesn't exist. Just to throw the guy who they don't like off track. If they don't want the guy to have their number? I have a family member, who complained that I do not keep in touch. I explained to them, that I did want to bother them. They said I do not bother them and that I should call & text. To make a long story short, I called and texted when I could. When I sent a text, I was either ignored or they gave rude responses. What angered me the most were the one word responses with a period.When I called they would talk briefly. They said they had to go and would call me back. This happened more than once and they never called me back. I took it as if they did not want to talk to me. I am okay with that. I finally got tired of the games. They were deleted from my contact list and I deleted the text chat. I will no longer initiate contact again.
I texted my older brother and no response. There were times situations came up in our family and he would often act bizarre no when it would be uncalled for. This is what I call " mind games".
Some people will sit on their phone and wonder why they friends ain't texting back if you were busy working on your own life and putting a book in your face instead of going on facebook all day you wouldn't be texting people and just hoping they reply. Just cause they leave you on read doesn't mean they're ignoring you or they're interested in someone else, If you were busy trying to better yourself you wouldn't rely on friends to make yourself feel better. All it is that you send the message and they don't reply in a day or week or month and start overthinking about everything and create this mental problem you created yourself instead of thinking maybe the world doesn't evolve around you or maybe this person is going through something personal and instead of instantly assuming the worst.

Sometimes people are depressed, in the dumps. Once I feel better, I try to be honest about how I was feeling. This has definitely affected my friendships....but I guess it shows me who's really down for me.

This is so true. I finally blocked a man I was into for doing this to me. He disappears and then reappear when HE wants to. I didnt understand why he would do this if he so called " liked" me. My Bestfriend sometimes does not text me back for days and sometimes weeks. I texted her asking her for a small favor back in May and she did not text me back from a whole month and completely ignore the question I asked about the small favor. Even though she is my bestfriend I am no longer putting up with it. I act accordingly with her.

It's a heartbreaking situation. The very night my mother died, we texted our friends we've known for 5 years letting them know. Never got a text back. Later, they said they had some "technical" issue with their phone. We had a fight over their being inconsiderate. My mother died, for God's sake; and I needed them and their support. So sad!
I have a friend who respond to my messages every 3 to 4 months. The last time it was during covid 19 in April when she told me her father had died. One thing to note is if a person takes weeks/months to respond one or two things will happen. Either they get closer to you and you start texting almost every day/two/three days after awhile(This may take time). Or, they pull away, and start texting even less frequently and then stop altogether. Flaky people will go away on their own eventually for no reason. Only exception is when a person is using you for money in scenerio two.

I agree, it's okay for someone not to reply with in a day or two, but if they make a habit of not replying, or it gets to the point where you ask yourself "should I send them another text?" Don't! Because that person KNOWS you sent them a text, I don't beleive that a person can 'forget' that you texted them... If I had several people texting me at once, I will always make it my mission to get back to all of them. When someone says to your face to face "sorry I forgot to text you back," they are really bullshitting you.

It has become a repeated theme with several of my family members and idk what to do.
I told my mother that they could not possibly forget about my existence and texts so frequently, while they respond to others just fine, but she makes excuses for them or shrugs it off. It’s so painful.

I’ll tell you why those persons do not respond. (1)They’re either busy , (2)they forgot or (3)they’re plain rude and don’t have the balls to tell you they ain’t interested in you. Just move on, if you don’t deserve their time they don’t deserve yours (only if what’s happening is the third situation ofc)
No matter how busy people are, they all have phones on their hands 24/7. In pretty sure they check their emails, or wait for messages from their loved ones to text back. So, don’t give people excuses as to why they didn’t reply. They just didn’t want to do it, and you are not their priority at the moment. Don’t take it personally and move on, focus on yourself! Nobody got your back better than you!

I have a friend who takes forever to reply or sometimes she never reply ... like she takes 1 week to reply then I saw her online FB and whatsapp, she told me shes too busy mmm I was like yeah it's a question of priority she told me you're not the only one started to be mad. I just recently cut a friend off due to this because she makes no effort to stay in touch & doesn't text back. If she does it's stupid one word, two words or two sentences then after that will leave me hanging in the middle of a text conversation. When I ask her what happened, she tells me she got busy and that she'll call me or text and never does. This was on a consistent basis. So I gave up & if she calls me or texts me, I ignore her. Sometimes you have to treat people the way they treat you. How busy is anyone that you can't ever hang out or talk to stay in touch.
She's playing mind games....and I wouldn't even respond to that....
This is exactly why I hate Facebook & don't use it. Because you can always tell who is being a dick behind your back, & ignoring you when you send them messages... the "seen" sign appears, then the person doesn't reply. You feel like saying "what a dick."

In the first scenario, we can give that person the benefit of the doubt because they gave "an excuse" in a "timely" manner. However, if you get no response after several tries, cut them loose.

I’m dealing with someone who a week earlier says they are comfortable talking to me and who I feel is becoming a close friend but the next week doesn’t reply to a text asking “I haven’t heard from you” and another “I hope you’re okay” and another “I hope you’re not sad over something”. Finally I call because I’m worried about them. They telling me ‘oh I thought I replied to your text” and not giving me any good reason why they didn’t reply to my text to seeing if THEY are okay. You really learn who really are your friends and care about you.
I immediately delete them. Discard them. I don't have time to play with their games. Good riddance!

this is the time to reevaluate the relationship or plan not to reach out to that person again it is a waste of your time...keep in mind most people cant take what they dish out either so you can just as easily choose to do the same to that individual if the opportunity presents itself.

Sometimes people don't get back to you because you are a pain in the rump. I had a former friend like that, I really did not want to hurt her feelings but I stopped wanting to be associated with her because she was draining all my energy with her drama. Rather than be outright rude I chose to ignore her calls or if I did answer the phone and it was her I told her I was busy and then didn't call her back. But weeks later there she was with her drama again calling me. So probably in the end it would be better to just come right out and say look I don't want to hang with you anymore, I have enough drama in my own life and can't take yours too. If someone doesn't return my calls or text messages then I don't bother with them.

Usually when people don't text back? Depends who it is regardless? It could be either they're tied up or purposely ignoring the other person who texted them? Just to spitefully pissed them off on purpose by start worrying and leaving them high and dry. That person is not worth texting or worth your time. Move on and forget that person. You'll end up with disappointment in the end. That person doesn't give 2 Shits. They'll be teasing the person they're torturing. It's a common disease with most people. It's the same when certain girls (not all) give guys fake phone numbers that doesn't exist. Just to throw the guy who they don't like off track. If they don't want the guy to have their number? They simply need to say? Girl: I don't give it out or I don't have one. So suppose they see the guy again? It make things awkward to where they'll get caught in the act. Some of us men do slick stuff too. Just my opinion. But in general. People who do that type of slick Shit should be ashamed of themselves. So Fuck people like that. Move on and find people or beautiful sweet genuine decent women who will text you back. Trust in God may direct your part.
I have a family member, who complained that I do not keep in touch. I explained to them, that I did want to bother them. They said I do not bother them and that I should call & text. To make a long story short, I called and texted when I could. When I sent a text, I was either ignored or they gave rude responses. What angered me the most were the one word responses with a period.When I called they would talk briefly. They said they had to go and would call me back. This happened more than once and they never called me back. I took it as if they did not want to talk to me. I am okay with that. I finally got tired of the games. They were deleted from my contact list and I deleted the text chat. I will no longer initiate contact again.
That’s so annoying. Those kinds of people just like the feeling of getting attention and communicating when it’s convenient.

Some people will sit on their phone and wonder why they friends ain't texting back if you were busy working on your own life and putting a book in your face instead of going on facebook all day you wouldn't be texting people and just hoping they reply. Just cause they leave you on read doesn't mean they're ignoring you or they're interested in someone else, If you were busy trying to better yourself you wouldn't rely on friends to make yourself feel better. All it is that you send the message and they don't reply in a day or week or month and start overthinking about everything and create this mental problem you created yourself instead of thinking maybe the world doesn't evolve around you or maybe this person is going through something personal and instead of instantly assuming the worst.

I get pissed off when people dont text back. And when they do reach out to me I confront them about it. There are times when it's a legitimate reason they didn't text back. But sometimes the person for some reason just didnt want to respond.

Sometimes people are depressed, in the dumps. Once I feel better, I try to be honest about how I was feeling. This has definitely affected my friendships....but I guess it shows me who's really down for me.

Depression really sucks - if people only knew - it affects 1 out of 4 people - that leaves 3 out of 4 to not understand

This is so true. I finally blocked a man I was into for doing this to me. He disappears and then reappear when HE wants to. I didnt understand why he would do this if he so called " liked" me. My Bestfriend sometimes does not text me back for days and sometimes weeks. I texted her asking her for a small favor back in May and she did not text me back from a whole month and completely ignore the question I asked about the small favor. Even though she is my bestfriend I am no longer putting up with it. I act accordingly with her.
And then when they finally text back it's with so much vim "Heeyyyy girlll omg how are you?" Erm not good girl, you never speak to me! Always stringing me along but don't actually work on a meaningful friendship with me. I'm okay, I have other friends in my life who I'm more comfortable with and who love me properly.

It's a heartbreaking situation. The very night my mother died, we texted our friends we've known for 5 years letting them know. Never got a text back. Later, they said they had some "technical" issue with their phone. We had a fight over their being inconsiderate. My mother died, for God's sake; and I needed them and their support. So sad!
I have a friend who respond to my messages every 3 to 4 months. The last time it was during covid 19 in April when she told me her father had died. She’s been doing this to me even before that , so I’m watching what kind of xcuses she give next time, but I’m sure , I’ll have to cut her off.
