    Your ability to communicate with the locals in manderin is unique in all foreign vlogers in China

    i’m glad you’re so well received by Chinese… it seems that even in rural Yunnan, people are living a relatively decent and comfortable life. it’s soothing to see the video, love the quality, the nature sunlight gives the video a nice filter…beautiful!

      Thanks Lei, I don't colour grade any of the footage (mainly because I'm yet to spend the time to learn how haha), it's just straight from the camera or drone so I'm really glad to hear you say that! and true - they all seem to live simple yet comfortable lives. It makes me consider doing the same one day.

    Dude I’m so glad I came across your channel again. I neglected to subscribe previously months ago when you popped up in the algorithm. This episode is simply sublime, showcasing yet another amazing piece of the great and varied Chinese tapestry sewn together by a common language. Your ability to interact with the people beyond transactional surface level and your editing skills are major pluses. Rock on dude
    Ps. The only negative is that this village and landscape makes me miss homeland even more haha

    Wow the sea of clouds at sunrise just stunning! The tea ceremony seems such a peaceful and relaxing way of chatting and socialising with the locals. Thanks for sharing & hope you get the garbage song sorted 😂👏🏼🌟🙏🏻 x

    18:32 The host will be very happy if you take the baijiu he offers. It means you accept him as a friend, means a lot. But sometimes the baijiu can be a burden if too many people on the table want to be your friend😅

    Can see from the video that at some instances, you're still facing difficulties finding words to form a sentence. But it is also obvious that you're working real hard to learn the language. I'm sure you'll be very fluent with it in no time. 加油加油!

    • @thejourneyofjake
      @thejourneyofjake  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Spot on. I'm definitely still struggling 😂, during filming I'm usually just smiling and nodding when a difficult topic arises, but I tell you what, going back afterwards and translating the video is super interesting and probably where I do most of my learning. It's a time consuming but fun process, 加油!

    G'day Jake, love your content! I'm also following you on Bilibili, why didn't you share the videos you uploaded on Bilibili here? Those are funny as.

      Hey yanda! Thanks for the comment, the videos on Billi Billi are all already on my TH-cam, you have to scroll back a bit though, I uploaded them last year! I'm slowly working through putting Chinese subtitles on my videos and uploading them to Billi Billi but it's taking a while 💤 I'm currently trying to find someone at xiamen uni to help translate my videos - if you know anyone let me know 😄

    Nice video. What are the cost of drinking tea and having corn with the lady and drinking tea with that gentelmen?

    • @thejourneyofjake
      @thejourneyofjake  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The tea from the girl was 16 yuan and I think the corn was 3 yuan. The guy who made everyone tea near the end of the video didn't ask for a cent! It was the same for the lady I stayed with, we drank tea together every day and she never asked for money. The people there were so hospitable 😊

      @@thejourneyofjakeIt would be utterly inappropriate to charge someone who you invite to your home. You were considered a friend.

      @@thejourneyofjake in remote locations do you use AliPay & or WeChat to pay for things? Just wondering if you can hook your Aussie bank accounts to these apps ok? I’ve seen other international TH-cam travellers with no probs but being an fellow Aussie would love to know ☺️

      Hey mate sorry for the late reply! I have linked my visa debt from an Aussie bank to WeChat, no issues! And yep everywhere even in far out places like this use WeChat or alipay

      I definitely got a little coffee/tea drunk in the Xishuangbanna video haha but I think I'm building up a tolerance as I continue my journey 😄
