My last build was a 427 stroker LS, it has new AFR 245’s and Jessel shaft mount rockers. First off the rockers were so heavy that max power was at 5600 RPM where it should have been at least 6800. So I used it like that for the season and when I disassembled to inspect there were marks on most of the rocker arms where at some point they were rubbing the retainers. I have since removed the 1300 hundred dollar pain in the ass Jessel shaft mount rockers for the tried and true stock “style” LS rockers that 99% of the LS community uses. All better.

Thanks Mate. Great information on a touchy subject. As I’m accumulating many parts for my LS the type of rocker I should use is one of the last choices.
Stock LS rockers with a COMP Cams trunion should be ok for my application. Thanks for your input and knowledge on these components. Support from 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Maybe do a stock vs roller rocker test on a 6 liter LS with a 459 or 469 cam, show everyone if it's REALLY worth it.. 🤔

its great that you cover so many areas & test everything , saves people alot of time & money . i know you mostly cover american v8 engines , but your information & knowledge can relate to other pushrod engines . Im building VW Type 4/porshe 912 big bore stroker possibly supercharged . These have different type rockers

Regarding your comment on the oil in your truck losing oil pressure when it is time to change it; oil shears back with mileage. A 5W 30 oil is a 5 weight oil with viscosity inproves that get torn up in the close tollerances.
I am working as money permits, on my 1966 SBF 289. I will be getting 1.9/1.55 valves from the LM7 Gen 3 Chevy in. Been thinking bronze guides but the Chevy guides could work also and seenm to stand up well. I got PAC dual valves springs with retainers and locks to fit the 8mm valve stems. I have a low mileage Engle cam I had installed in a 351W for a year or two. It is 210° @0.050, 256 advertized, 109 LCA and 0.472" lift with the stock 1.6:1 rockers. I purchased 1.72 Scorpion roller rockers to get the valve lift up to 0.500".
This is installed in a 1940 Ford Fordor street rod. Just looking for snappy street performance, no racing.
Thank you for sharing your experience.

Richard, I have a 2000 GMC with 5.3 LS that I replaced with a 6.0. I upgraded to a Stage 2 camshaft with .585" Intake/Exhaust lift. When the engine was rebuilt the original rockers and push rods were reinstalled. Truck runs great but has what seems like a slight valve tick. I was told by engine rebuilder to replace rockers / push rods to quieten down. Not necessarily looking to get power but a quieter run / idle. What do you recommend as I have been looking at replacing with roller rockers. After listening to you I am rethinking what I should do to avoid additional costs / upgrades such as valve springs etc. Help

Not part of this subject but: Wil a central fuel injection unit offer the same intake cooling as a carb. application? Known that port does not but have seen no test on the effect of a above plenum based injection unit.

Hi Richard. Thanks for all of your great videos. In regards to your trading, you may consider checking out live traders channel. I got a ton of good trading education from Jared Wesley at live traders. He has great free lectures and a PTS trading course, which is excellent. I have no affiliation with live traders, but highly recommend them. Its the best trading course available. Good luck trading. Its harder with real money as emotions get in your way. Thanks again for your continued videos. I love big block chevys. Building an 89 4 bolt main 454 with oval port aftermarket heads. Can't wait to get her done.
