This song was so good live. Rush always has a huge screen behind them when they played and during the part where it feels like you are driving fast they had a winding road on the big screen. Twisting and turn like you were flying down the road. Really mesmerizing .

🤘🏼🎧🤟🏼 Yeah! Love this song so much - great reaction as always - and if I could send a note back to my adolescent self it would be “Do NOT put Red Barchetta 🚘 on that morning drive tape, or you will get stopped by the cops in front of school.”
There’s a few songs on moving pictures that weren’t on cinema strangiato. Definitely finish moving pictures now guys then move onto a farewell to kings and move forward so you can hear how rush’s style changed
Also...a week ago for one night only, there was a Rush concert documentary in theaters called Cinema Strangiato. If it ever comes back out whatever you do...do not miss it. Absolutely amazing.
🤣 I've seen so many bands, famous & not famous, in Rochester 🤦🏿♀️ and still can't find it on a map! 😊 It was always "Wanna go see fill-in-the-blank?" 🤷🏿♀️ As long as I kept my grades up and made to class on time the next day, mom would give me $ to go. 🤔 Jersey & Long Island were like that too back in the day. "Wanna go to a Bar/Bat Mitzvah for fill-in classmate name?" is how I saw Billy Joel the first time. And I think 🤔 a sweet 16 party was how I first saw Bruce Springsteen. 😂 He sounded like an old man even in his early 20's. 😁 The good old days.... 😒 Like REALLY old days before jobs & life meant I pay for my own concert tickets now! I'm so old, I'm officially retired! 😛 DOH'! 😁🐰
Awesome to see you react to Red Barchetta. For me, this is the song where I was driving along and it comes on the radio and after a few minutes I look up and I'm going way over the speed limit. It has such a driving sound that it propels you along .
Hey guys! Wow! I’m so sorry you haven’t heard this before. This has been a favorite of mine for 40 years. Saw the concert in Seattle in 1981. One of my favorite shows EVER! One of the things I’ve always liked about RUSH is a lot of their songs are a story, thanks in large part to Neil Peart. Thanks again for what you guys do! 🎸
Thanks for reacting to this guys! Good timing as Neil would have turned 70 this past Sunday and this is one of his most visually provoking songs, lyrically. Love the channel, keep the Rush coming!
Thank you so much for doing this one. All the elements are there and it exemplifies musical excellence as Rush always does. The 7/4 time shift during the guitar solo is just so great!
Great reaction guys! I'm a huge Rush fan since I. was a teenager. And their showmanship is second to none! And I know from other concert goers that they see what I am feeling! Its magical! And I really enjoyed your reaction! I. know you liked them as much as I do and thats wonderful!
Good decision seeing the R40 tour. RUSH was amazing live. My first RUSH concert was Power Windows and I never missed a tour after that. (and starting with R30 I usually went to any show within motorcycle distance)
It's always fun, watching others liking your personal favourite music :-) You won't believe, but I could sing along, I remembered each single word .... I never did it loud, because I'm a terrible singer ... The song also brought up memories: I'm sitting in the basement of my parents house in our party room, just me and Rush, listening to the music, reading the lyrics ... and here we are 40 years later and the music is still as great as it always was, simply timeless ...
Rush had been part of my life for 52 years now, and in reflection of this, Man what a historical journey. RIP Niel "Professor" Peart. You will live on through the music and hearts you touched. Talent for songwriting and composing. I believe this was his work. 3 man band who sounded larger than life. Title album Rush in 1974 changed my world. Would have never expected 50 years with them. #nicknlexrequest I highly recommend "Finding my Way" or "Working Man" 1st and last track on Rush album. You will not be disappointed!
This songs story is coming true. Cars are becoming self driving and will be regulated on where they can take you and to what speed. Barchetta is a 50’s Ferrari convertible. The simplicity and freedom for the driver to go anywhere and push the car’s engine to the limit. Neil Peart uses the song as a analogy for freedom vs oppression
Rush had an uncanny way of predicting things. For example, Cygnus X-1 was officially declared a black hole after they had predicted it was. It was thought to be one, by the scientific community, but there was still speculation until certain measurements were available. Amazing insight. Thanks. ✨🤪
The Chorus of this amazing story song should be written on the back panel of every sun visor in every cool car. Wind in my hair, shifting and drifting, mechanical music, adrenalin surge........Well weathered leather, hot metal and oil, the scented country air, sunlight on chrome, the blur of the landscape, every nerve aware.. Thanks you guys.
Happy Birthday!! 24 is an important year. Just for fun ... in Chinese astrology, it’s YOUR year! Year of the Ox (metal ox in 2021). It’s the strongest of the 12 signs which are based on the year you were born and repeat every 12 years. So, enjoy! Lol. ✨🤪
Reinhard klingt so deutsch, also nachträglichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag. 24 ! was kommen da für tolle Erinnerungen hoch, ist ja auch erst 37 Jahre her :-) Schreib doch mal in einem Jahr, wie das Leben mit 24 war:-)
I was 14 when this album came out I can remember it was huge it seemed like everybody was saying you HAVE to listen to this! I saw them live in 1982, 1997 and 2010(the Time Machine tour where they played Moving Pictures in its entirety)...always a fantastic show
The greatest driving song ever written. The melody and time signatures go with driving a manual sports car down a mountain road as perfectly as The Trooper matches a cavalry charge. The point just before the guitar solo, where the sound expands with a "woosh" is coming out of the twisties, (the staccato part just before,) onto the long downhill straight that drops you down onto the valley floor, as the hills angle away on both sides, and the valley opens up across your windshield.
Moving Pictures is arguably a near-perfect rock album. It really doesn't have any weak songs, and the audio engineering was top-notch to the point it still holds up amazingly well. Even the original vinyl pressing was superb. When I was young..."My uncle has a breakfast place that no one knows about, He says it used to be a bar before the liquor law. Now on Sundays I elude the fries and buy the breakfast plate, not far outside the wild my frosted donut waits!" :-D
Found you two whilst on a trip to the Twin Cities this past weekend. Spent the majority of the five hour drive home binging your RUSH stuff and now moving on to Pat Metheny and others. How I didn’t find you two sooner, I have no clue. Great stuff, love watching you discover/rediscover everything these three have to offer. Reminds me of myself when I first delved on in, now I’m a “Rushan” for life, as you both are. 😂 There are so many more I could pitch, but I’ll limit to one, for now, lol. Ya’ll already did “Ghost of a Chance” off of “Roll The Bones”. Ya’ll gotta do the title track. So, damn, good. People love to bash it because of a certain experiment they did with the song, but I love it. It was one of the songs that turned me into RUSH when I was young, and it’s still one of my staple favorites. Give it a listen, trust me. 🤟

Saw them in concert on their Moving Pictures tour. They had a nice video that accompanied this that went great with it. Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo, Michigan. 1981.
You still need to hear ELP. "The Barbarian", It's the first song on the first album they made. Then, If you don't have "Led Boots", you could "Come Dancing" with me and Jeff Beck, if "You Know What I Mean".
@John Ladd The song was inspired by the futuristic short story "A Nice Morning Drive, written by Richard Foster and published in the November 1973 issue of Road & Track magazine.
@John Ladd I used to collect Rush radio interview shows (Off the Record, In the Studio, King Biscuit, Rockline, etc.) back in the 1990s. I obtained or recorded about 100 or so when I stopped to be a "responsible adult". I recall Neil discussing it on one or more of them, but couldn't remember date or magazine. A quick Google search refreshed my memory. One of the more important pieces of history in the evolution of man. ;)
Guys I saw the Time machine tour they played Moving Pictures front to back live! what a show. The Red Barchetta was Neil's favorite car a 1948 Ferrari 166MM ″Barchetta″.
Yes, awesome song off one of their best albums. Amazing song writing on the whole album, along with the hits, please try Witch Hunt and The Camera Eye, amazing deeper cuts. Thanks for also broadening your horizons, there is much classic rock of different types and genres and eras to explore. Rock On! 🎸
I'll write some memories and thoughts before I listen: Moving Pictures was my first Rush LP, I bought it in 1981, 'til then I only knew Permanent waves, had it on cassette (burned :-)) ! ). Right from the beginning I loved everything in this album, except for the "Supertramp-keyboard-sound" in Camera Eye. Moving Pictures might even be the LP, that I've listened most to in all these years, but especially in 81/82, almost everyday. It is my absolute Nr 1 Rush album. Red Barchetta became my favourite song, followed by Tom Sawyer, which has the better drumming, but I didn't understand, what Neil was trying to tell with his words ... maybe you have to be native speaker to understand ... In Red Barchetta the story is easy to understand and what makes this song so special is, that text and music tell the same story, you listen to the words and the music makes you feel what the words tell you. I especially like the lines "I spin around with shrieking tyres" ... what my brother also liked to do , he's the racedriver in the family and also " go screaming through the valley" ... that happened, when I drove with my brother through the Marten-Tal (valley), a narrow road with a slope of 18 or 19% going down one side and the other one up .... and funny, that like in Red Barchetta, there's a bridge at the bottom of the valley, named after Napoleon, but it's not a one lane brigde :-) ok 3-2-1 here I go
@@michelemichele3375 I wouldn't recommend it to anybody :-) unless you like shrieking tyres ... his credo was, if the tyres shriek in the curve, go faster .... crazy .... I used to race throught the Eifel woods, when I was young, but never would have had a chance against him. Hard to believe today with all the traffic, driving is no more fun, nowhere .... ok on the german Autobahn you can go 200 -300 Km/h at night ...
This is a song that meshes the music and lyrics perfectly. One of the greatest songs ever written IMO.

I do have a favorite Rush song, and this is it. It's a beautiful, nostalgic story, accompanied by their great music. ❤
This song was so good live. Rush always has a huge screen behind them when they played and during the part where it feels like you are driving fast they had a winding road on the big screen. Twisting and turn like you were flying down the road. Really mesmerizing .
😳😒😂 I still see that visually in my head everytime I hear this song! 😁🐰
@@cityhonors1 Me too.
Awesome reaction, thank you! You guys haven't touched the album fly by night yet, Neil's first album with them, Bytor and the snow dog has been my request initially because I'm convinced you 2 will LOVE IT! So again, check out Bytor and the snow dog, lol, Love your RUSH reactions
I saw them in concert twice, Permanent Waves in Rochester NY, and Moving Pictures in Chicago. No one does it better!
Your Rush reactions are really awesome. And this is definitely one of my favorite Rush songs. Keep them coming, you’ve got a long way to go.
una banda legendaria . la escucho desde la adolescencia y ten 60 años. felicitaciones chicos.
Thanks for reacting to this guys! Good timing as Neil would have turned 70 this past Sunday and this is one of his most visually provoking songs, lyrically. Love the channel, keep the Rush coming!
I think it was 69 Dave.
@@davideddolls4738 Yep, you're correct
Another great review by you guys. Rush is simply the greatest band of all time!
Another Canadian power trio to check out is Triumph. Are you familiar? If not, check out "Fight the Good Fight" or "Lay it on the Line."
Looking forward to this reaction. This is one of my favorite songs off the Moving Pictures album.
👍👍👍👍
Mark of a truly great track. It never gets old. Outstanding choice and reaction.
The ultimate version of that song is on the 1981 live album Exit Stage...Left.
This song is the Epitome of what Rush sounds like
Only a few songs left to finish Moving Pictures
Perfect song to play before I turn 24 tomorrow! Leave it to Neil to make a story with a Barchetta set in the future!
Happy Birthday, when I was 24 I saw UFO for the first time. Try Rock Bottom live for your B-day. Enjoy! 🎸
Happy early Birthday, Reinhard! Neil was inspired to write this song based on a magazine article he read.
@@rudolfbecker4313 need to translate from German, though it seems complimentary.
I was 14 when this album came out I can remember it was huge it seemed like everybody was saying you HAVE to listen to this! I saw them live in 1982, 1997 and 2010(the Time Machine tour where they played Moving Pictures in its entirety)...always a fantastic show
Every instrument is the epitome of perfection.
A band at the absolute height of their power.
Even when they are just singing about a car they are awesome.
It wasn't really about a car.
LOVE IT..THIS ONE IS A CLASSIC FOR SURE,PURE PRIME RUSH! MUCH LOVE TO YOU TWO..OH HOW I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE PATREON...ALL MY BEST,KENT.
The greatest driving song ever written.
The melody and time signatures go with driving a manual sports car down a mountain road as perfectly as The Trooper matches a cavalry charge.
The point just before the guitar solo, where the sound expands with a "woosh" is coming out of the twisties, (the staccato part just before,) onto the long downhill straight that drops you down onto the valley floor, as the hills angle away on both sides, and the valley opens up across your windshield.
rush fan for 33 years. saw them 4 times live. started drumming in 1990 because of neil peart.
What a great song. Musically, lyrically, lots of feeling and storytelling.
So. Much. Good. 🤗🙃🥰 Great reaction. Glad that film lit a fire 🔥 Thanks and 🎂🥳 !! ✨🤪
There are so many more I could pitch, but I’ll limit to one, for now, lol. 🤟
Thanks for joining us and for taking the time to comment and suggest!
We recently watched Cinema Strangiato and I cried with Roll the Bones so I can't wait to react to it and listen to the studio version after watching the live performance on the movie. Thanks again and welcome! :) - Lex
This is about my 2 or 300th time hearing it since the early 80s, one of my favorite songs to see them do live, never get tired of hearing it.
My all time favorite Rush song! ❤️ The words are amazing! I can visualize the entire thing like a movie.
Hey Nick N Lex. I was a sophomore in high school when this came out. I went to see them in 1982 and would become the last time I saw them in concert. They were so awesome to see live back then. Great song and great reaction. Keep up the good work.
Hi Nick and Lex, I’m an ER doctor struggling through this pandemic, and I just want you to know that watching your reaction videos is like therapy for me during these dark times. I’m a lifelong Rush fan, and your reactions to their music bring me a little bit of joy each time I tune in. Have you reacted yet to Mission from Hold Your Fire? I’d love to see what you think of it.
Thank you for the work you do everyday! Your kind words really made our day and make us feel like we're giving something back to you for what you do. We haven't heard that tune yet but we plan to! Stay safe, Lex
When I listen to this song it makes me feel like I'm in the car driving. One of Rush's best songs.
One of my favorite Rush songs, I always love to drive to it when I’m on the open road.👍🔥🎧🤘🏻
Music/lyrrics perfect complement, and a perfect wind down in the outro.
One of my favorite Rush songs. Great story. Amazing playing! Love it so much.
alex's little solos and 'rushes' between choruses sound like seeing trees rushing past the windows!
Your smile is so infectious such a beautiful girl ! You are truly a lucky man! Also you get to listen to rush together man and women truly awesome love your Chanel! Peace and love!!
I love how Geddy's bass leads the melody, and the guitar accompanies. It is a testament to their musical dexterity.
Saw them in concert on their Moving Pictures tour. They had a nice video that accompanied this that went great with it. Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo, Michigan. 1981.
Funny thing bout this song is the ease at which they take the listener repeatedly into and out of 7/4 & 4/4. Cheers guys. 🎵🤘😎🤘🍁🦋🌿❤
MonsterSound: OK, class, today we shall learn about compound time.
Your professor, Dr. Peart, with a PhD in Grooveology, will be your instructor.
You still need to hear ELP. "The Barbarian", It's the first song on the first album they made. Then, If you don't have "Led Boots", you could "Come Dancing" with me and Jeff Beck, if "You Know What I Mean".
the ability for Neil to write a 3-4 minute song that encapsulates a whole book is incredible. his lyrics are unmatched.
It was actually a magazine article, but your point is still valid. No one wrote rock lyrics with more meaning than Neil.
i’m pretty sure it was a book/ magazine article called “ the motor law”.
@John Ladd The song was inspired by the futuristic short story "A Nice Morning Drive, written by Richard Foster and published in the November 1973 issue of Road & Track magazine.
nice research. I love Rush nerdism.
One of the more important pieces of history in the evolution of man. ;)
Hola Nick y Lex
Gracias por los subtítulos en español, ahora voy a poder disfrutar del canal en inglés. Saludos desde Bs. As. y... aguante Rush !
Because of this song.. I want an old pre war race car as my daily driven..
Superb song..
Both music and lyrics are written really well.
What a band!
Rock On! 🎸
Time for you two to start the Signals album. Every song is great but Chemistry, Losing it, and Countdown are my faves.
Best driving song ever!
Windows down, sunroof open, winding country road, flooring it
First time here Love your sound stage excellent set up
I just love watching your reactions. You guys do such a great job. I would love to see your reaction to the song marathon from Rush.
I especially like the lines "I spin around with shrieking tyres" ... what my brother also liked to do , he's the racedriver in the family and also " go screaming through the valley" ... that happened, when I drove with my brother through the Marten-Tal (valley), a narrow road with a slope of 18 or 19% going down one side and the other one up .... and funny, that like in Red Barchetta, there's a bridge at the bottom of the valley, named after Napoleon, but it's not a one lane brigde :-) ok 3-2-1 here I go
Perfect comment, Rudi. The music fits the lyrics so well. And I don’t think I’ll take a ride from your brother. Haha. ✨🤪
So glad you reacted to this. 👍💕👍💕👍💕
By the way a couple of more good ones from this album “Limelight” and “Witch Hunt” along with the others of course.
Yes! I can’t believe they haven’t done those yet
My favorite Rush song. Must be listened to while zipping down the interstate at 70 mph!
