“Hurr durr you shouldn’t drive if you can’t drive stick” people can drive (mostly) fine, but I can’t be bothered to do all that shifting if I’m tired af in the morning or I just wanna go down to the convenience store

Hey FTG, i know this video is old here but i was wondering if you could help me figure out a way that i can have a low mounted shifter setup but be able to have a shorter throw. just to give you an example here, i have a TH8A shifter with the same shifter knob that you have and i wanted to mount it lower on my rig and use an extension bar to make it longer so its more realistic to a true big rig shifter. and i was able to get something setup, but the throw on it is huge. like when i put it into the first gear position is like literally almost touching my wheel lol and then lord forbid i need to put it into the reverse position lol i have to throw it so far where its like almost at a 45 degree angle when its in the reverse position lol. I know there are tricks other than shortening the shaft. because i mean in real big rigs the shifter is literally mounted on the floor and the throw they have isnt as bad as mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
The G29 WILL FAIL in less than a month. Nobody knows how to fix it. Find something else.
Hey i got this same shifter but for some reason it is not working in american truck sim. I go through setup for wheel and map out gears and still nothing when i change gears in game. Any help would be appreciated thank you
Nice job man. I got a metal rod on mine and its defiantly heavy but its custom to a real 18 speed shifter. Turned to electric switches. Connected to a th8 shifter. Love my setup.
how long is your rod? I thought it was a little much having a 10" steel rod. I may copy this into a pinned comment.
Its only 9.25 inches long and a half inch thick. thats from the bottom of the 18 speed shift knob to the top base of the th8.
I may in the near future get some sort of plastic rod and fab something together to see the difference.
How many monitors due you use to play ATS and not to read chat if that makes sense?.
Does the "Jake" thumb button work for you? i got one brand new and it's not working

Where did u get the shifter extension ? Will it work for logitech shifter? Going 2 be putting a 13 speed shifter for ats on it.
FTG: that's a heck of a nice setup. I'd love to have something like that to play my simulators with! If you don't mind me asking; how much did a gaming rig like that set you back?
so you dont need the rig for that shifter like it can sit on the floor
You'd still have to attach it to something. It couldn't sit there by itself.
I will never have a set up like this.

so depending on what you have, the extension can be any length but has to be a 1.5mm pitch thread.
You can look through sickspeed as you can pick out lots of different patterns and such

Hi, nice video, I’m just about to update my setup and been thinking in buying the Fanatec shifter as well. I just bought a Gran Turismo DD pro wheel base(same as the csl but also for ps) on eBay, the only one available and close enough to buy and ship, since they’re out of stock on their website.
I mainly playing ats and especially current Aussie maps. I really want a “real” shifter. I’ve been looking at ATS accessories Eaton shifter and some extension of some how.. anyway how much throw is there compared to not have the extension? I want it it to be as accurate as possible. Are 9-10 inch just enough? I mean don’t wanna have like an fishing rod feeling when shifting. After all been driving manual Scanias and Volvos here in Europe for quite some time. Regards / Frank

You & I have same sim panel. I was wondering maybe possibly you could help me fix my trailer brake. Every time I setup my trailer brake with ATS & then push in or out its moving the right switch to the right of steering wheel I don't think its actually doing anything with actual trailer brake. I'm not seeing that move at all & that's the one I should see either pushing in & out not the lever right of steering wheel. Its something has gotten mixed controls.

Awesome rig. But just a heads up that the shift knob is not available in canada. Have to get the cheaper version from china. Or get an american friend to scoop it for ya like a did

Great video! Could you do a reveal video about some things that are a bit more behind the scenes, like your desk setup, keyboard swivel and how that's attached... also your storage box you mentioned under your seat frame? Things like that?
i just orderd myself a logitech G923....so i have a question....that shifter that u have there that fanatec..will it work with the G923 wheel and pedals?
You just need to buy there serial to USB adapter from their website and it will work standalone

Great video! My setup is not as good. I'm using the same shifter and I have to say you're right. It works like a charm and I was able to upgrade my computer.
Went to sickspeed site typed in 10" SHIFTER EXTENDER in the search option and 0 results were found.
went to google typed it in.. Found plenty.

How much your whole setup cost you mine cost 100 bucks a free office pc it can run games a very low 15 fps and a 100 desk it works but i need better

I did on the first one I had. I had dropped it a few times putting it on so I couldn't blame that on them but generally no. This is my second one and I've had no problems with it.

FTG: The adapter that you have for the shift knob, what sight did you find it on. I didn't see it in the description. I think i found the extension on sick speed ( 10'' billet aluminum 12x1.5 aircraft grade)
yes.. I just hate to link that cause it only works with mine. I don't people to run go buy it thinking it's universal. Most would see the link and buy it not knowing the only thing it fits is the Fanatec
