Explaining how to practice a run using the "anchor point" concept and listening for specific notes is quite helpful! I also like your idea of tuning intervals using a reference tone to hear "beats" and improve intonation - excellent!
Thank you so much. I find your videos so very helpful. I may only be a freshmen bass clarinetist but I try to apply all the things you say to the music I play and I find it helps a lot.
Hey, quick question: I'm going into college, and plan to study in the music field. Do I need a Low C Bass Clarinet, or will an instrument to Low Eb work?
If you're majoring in clarinet performance, a low c bass clarinet will definitely help you. Unless you plan to specialize in bass clarinet performance though you can definitely get by with a low Eb bass, and even if you do choose to buy a low C bass, I'd go with a Kessler Custom or Ridenour low c - don't shell out tens of thousands on a professional horn if you're never going to use it beyond auxiliary parts! (Michael has other videos on his channel reviewing these horns, too!)
I will most likely never play Rite of Spring, but there was a ton of useful information about playing in general here. Thank you!

although I am reading this 8 years after it was written, I feel that this comment resonates with me. Are you still playing 8 years later?
Your videos have been so helpful for me. I'm getting my chops back up these days... Especially enjoyed the "tuning to yourself" section. Thanks!
He explains it so well

I really love the instruction in this video! It helps with music I’m learning now

What recording of the Rite are you listening to? It sounds magnificent.
I don't know, but there's one by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra that sounds magnificent too.
sounds like the one on Cmaj7's channel that has the score up along with it
Mrthesamster If you want a phenomenal recording, look for the Cleveland Orchestra under Boulez. That's a great one.
