I am so glad you did this series. I love machin3 tools but his documentation kind of sucks! You took the time to properly discuss how to use them! Great Job!!!!
No problem. I think the documentation is probably something that takes a surprisingly long time so I can totally forgive him for that. I couldn't set up a web page like they have to (as well as make the add ons) so it's understandable and I'm very happy to make videos that help people so it all works out 😉
That last trick is a vast time saver for sure. Whenever you do any rotating on cylinders/pipes as here or window trimmings, skirt boards ect, then you have to use shear instead of rotate to get a similar result and it's not as fast as that. Really cool I have to get machine tools.
I was honestly so hyped when I realised that. In looking through the documentation for Machin3 Tools I also found a function I didn't know it had that blew my mind. I think I actually swore at the computer it was so good. I'll cover that on Friday or Monday as it deserves its own video for sure.
Oh snap! Another awesome video! I've been on the fence about machin3tools, as I have configured my keyboard shortcuts to instantly jump into vertex, edge or face mode via pressing 1, 2, or 3 respectively when an object is selected... the tab key's behaviour is altered with this add-on enabled. I love how fast it is to switch between modes (my hand doesn't have to hunt for the numerical keys anymore... just hit tab and very quickly swipe in the direction for the desired mode (no mouse clicking required). I will now get used to using this add-on, as it looks like it has a chalk full of extra little features as well. I love the Shift + Alt + 1 then Ctrl to match another mesh's face angle! This is going to really fun to use! And free! Win win! Thanks for this video! Much appreciated!
Hi, I celebrate your videos and they help me tremendously. Now I want to upgrade my PC, what should I pay attention to and what would you advise me to do?
That's a really good question. I don't particularly know computers but you will need a combination of a good graphics card, a decent amount of RAM and as high powered core as possible (multiple cores don't help apparently so you're better off with fewer high speed cores than something that has 13 cores or whatever you can get).
I have done. I just haven't used it recently and I had a bit of a nightmare where I accidently saves my preferences when I was showing someone Blender "out of the box" and then my USB with my preferences backup died. So I've been slowly reinstating my addons and settings as I use them 🤦 It's been a bit tedious.
@@ArtisansofVaulOh man! That sucks! Maybe something you save to DropBox or something. As I get into this more and more, I can see how going through that could be a real nightmare.
Sucks that people didn't support this when it was free enough that it could be continued as a free product. But man is this ever worth the 5 dollars it is now.
Agreed on both counts. I think the hope was more people that got it free would come back to spend money on the Deus X version to say "thanks" and get some extra tools.
You think machine tools is crazy?? (I mean it is, its probably my fave addon because quality of life.) Just wait until hyper cursor comes out, you will most likely explode from joy. Been in talks with machin3, his 2 month mid tier patrons get the early access version too, but you might be able to get it if you email him. Will probably be another couple months tho.
@@ArtisansofVaul have you had a chance too look at it? He's got some previews on his channel for hyper cursor. It's seriously INSANE Machin3 has single handedly changed blender immensely
@@ArtisansofVaul I had emulate numpad on in settings because I use laptop, but I used pie menu for camera settings, unticked emulate numpad and worked fine.
Great tools , if only they didn't come at the expense of the usual hotkeys cause I hate the pie menu. in fact I should write a script that just toggles this addon on/off at a keypress, just for that reason.
I think in the addon there is something that allows you to use the numberpad keys instead, but then you can't use those for the camera control. I'm so used to the pie menu and like it so I can't say I've looked into it fully. A script would be cool
for some reason it didin't work as expected. when i hit ctrl to snap vertices to the desired plane and realease the mouse button the rest of the vertexes snaps to each other automaticly and merges.
@@ArtisansofVaul yes, i did exactly this, it is what i tried to describe in my previous post. you can check it yourself with the mesh having vertices positioned close enough to each other, for example with more dence bevels on some edges. hope i could explain my idea the right way.
4:32 Iiiiiii dont know man, seems alot faster to me. :D Especially instead of clicking to turn vertex mege on, you just press M with your thumb and select merge by distance
Weird: when I use Shift+Alt+1, my cylinder doesn't extent to the top in one direction, but the vertexes crumble/go in different directions, so that many sharp corners accure. Any idea why that can happen ?
You need to make sure that you only have the edges on the side selected (so not the edges around the top face as well). Thats the only way Ive been able to recreate this issue so thats what I assume you're doing wrong. Hope that helps. 😁
It's not really the focus of the channel as its more for 3D printing design. Maybe in the future but it would be the far future. In the mean time I'd REALLY recommend this channel, I love his teaching style, see what you think: th-cam.com/users/GrantAbbitt

To those that are currently following along with the tutorial, Symmetry is set to shift+alt+x by default in the current version.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the comment for others. Great community member 👌

Lmao. It was one of those moments when you have an idea out of the blue and you don't expect it to come off... but it did 🤣

Haha... I generally use a mouse for anything hard surface and a graphics tablet for sculpting. 😅

No problem at all. As you say its really has SO much functionality and being free makes it amazing.
damed this add on as edit modifer would be so cool in blender...full non destructiv together with selection group edge groups .
Oh my god that would be cool!
Is "Better Pie Menus" better than "Machin3" or not? I'm really confused between them. I need to decide which is better to buy.
These are Machin3 Tools. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
