Excellent work fellas. You guys just keep doing it bigger and better. Really tragic the way everything went down for Julio, has such an amazing story but couldn't keep his hands to himself. No excuse for what he did. Probably one of the most costly mistakes in MLB history.
Perfectly said, MorningStar. He had all the talent in the world :(
It is a sad story that sports stars do not have the patent on. Prayers to the victims and their families. I hope Julio recognizes he needs help so he can lead a normal, peaceful life beyond just high-profile professional sports.
I need more Dougumentaries
What’s a dougumentaries?
@@jza_23a documentary featuring Doug
@@jza_23 his names Doug
I literally bought his jersey 2 weeks before he got arrested. I loved watching him pitch, what he did is unacceptable.
Innocent until proven guilty
I hope he gets the help that he needs.
What he do?
@@mexicangremlin8297 bro he was found guilty 😂
@@mexicangremlin8297 dude did it at a soccer game lol. U clown.
I don't feel bad for him. He knew what was at stake. He knew how much the team needed him and how much his family needed him. And he couldn't stop being abusive 🙄. I hope he truly learns his lesson. If he ever makes it back to the show, I'm not sure I would want him to be a Dodger again. Great Documentary DMac!! Viva Los Doyers!
In my view as a former Family Court public defender-and member of the first U.S. National Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect-I think Julio may have been abused in his own upbringing. That issue needs to be addressed with an experienced therapist and not just a regular adult relationship counselor. Reason? Abuse tends to repeat itself in the next generation. Very, very sad development as the Dodgers could sure use a lefty starter and certainly a kid with his love for the game.
Julio will end up in Japan, if he chooses to.😮
@@gregoryk.tanaka4285 Very interesting take as a person of your profession who has seen it all.
Julio will most definitely need counseling and/or serious couch time with a professional therapist. Many Latino males or males of other cultures as well have been taught or have been exposed to the so-called role of a "Man" and they can't show emotions. But it really manifests itself by hiding or bottling up those feelings of frustration as to what should be done. I think it leads to the outburst of emotion in a detrimental way physically as he has done twice.
Anyway, enough of my rambling...I wish him the best and a positive outcome in the future.
@@patguitare are you saying hes supposed to be a feminist because that's what it sounds like and that type of male does not succeed in life they flail and fail
As a former member of the 1975 National Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect, I remember being taught that someone who was abused tends to go on to become abusive himself. In other words, Julio may well have been the victim of child abuse when he was a kid. If so, then he needed to be counseled by a psychotherapist who specializes in helping child abuse victims-and not just a regular therapist.
Great video, Doug! As a Mexican Dodgers fan, I knew of Julio since he was signed in the minors. It's very sad that he turned out to behave the way he did
You should let the investigation finalize before commenting this. If not, women can just go around and metooing men at will 😅
@@dannyc3774 you are a clown he's beat his woman twice now... This isn't something we're waiting for evidence... Dodgers straight up cut him for this reason... One eyed rey myterio is a trash human
Man, he was a prodigy. Being so young and talented and a lot of eyes on him. Being the pitcher to close out the World Series for us. Being a Mexican for probably a team with the biggest fandom with Mexican fans.
He had it all. Uber talented, setting up for a massive bag, family. Man this one was tough to see him throw it all away. No way he pitches again in the mlb
@@shadesides92I really don’t know. Dude obvious has some sort of anger issues and that’s really tough to change. Now that his mlb career is, probably, over. Will his issues worsen or will it be the tough slap in the face, pun intended, he needed to change for good. I hope we don’t randomly hear from him down the line for more bad news.
He made the Mexicans look bad and just last year they had a documentary about his success with the dodgers on the biggest tv station Univision where he had many Mexicans rooting for him. Now finding out about his violent nature makes me feel disgusted about him. There’s already bad stereotypes about our people the Mexicans and this made everything even worse.
You can’t sympathize when it comes to stupidity
Stupidity is rampant in the Hispanic communities unfortunately I see the respect or lack there of the young Latinos have for authority and their elders. So I'm zero shocked or surprised
We need more of these Doug, very professional and enjoyed it outside of the unfortunate outcome. 😢
Great documentary. A lot of work was put into this. Can it be a norm? So much Dodgers history to choose from. Great work Doug!
A big disappointment to have that kind of talent and throwing it away, he brought me back to the days of Valenzuela, I did have high hopes for him to become one of the best Mexican pitcher's in MLB.
Is this an ESPN documentary? The quality is there. Great job.
Amazing documentary about The Rise and Fall of Julio Urias. Very sad. Great work Dmac!⚾️⚾️🍀
This is a sad story. Julio was a talent, and the Dodgers invested lots of time and money in his development. Unfortunately, he has some serious anger issues that he couldn't control.
Sad situation. I hope he and the woman he is alleged to have assaulted get the help they need.
Urias is the ultimate Pendejo he had what every latino every Mexican kid dreamed of and he threw it all away because he couldn't hold his alcohol he couldn't get his ego in check and his machismo got the better of him, as a mexicano myself I threw away my urias jersey but i will always love my Valenzuela jersey 💙
You’re over reacting. Urias didn’t kill anyone, he messed up like any of us have.
You thew away your Urias jersey but you probably proud of Chapo and rocking his shirts.
@@mr.clutch6930we don’t like that chapo keep your stereotypes to yourself. There’s a literal video of him hitting his wife or girl.
@@mr.clutch6930keep your stereotypes to yourself we don’t like chapo. Only the bad people like him. Inform yourself instead of being ignorant with your stereotypes. And as today, Urías has been formally hit with 5 charges. He still hit his wife or girlfriend he may have not killed her but he still touched her. Get your machismo out of here.

There’s messing up and then there’s a pattern of abuse. This was the second time he violated MLB domestic violence policy. Domestic violence is a lot more serious than “messing up.” Stop enabling and defending of beating of women.
I love Alana Rizzo but that interview where she tried to speak Spanish with Julio’s parents, during his debut in New York. Díos mio 😅 Great coverage, big fan of these type of videos
Should Brauer be brought back now that we found he was 100% innocent?
Yes
Proven mlb star and only 2 years older than Yamamoto. Could have gotten $250m easy if not $300m. Threw it all away
Go LA Sports! 💪🏼
Dodgers 🧢⚾️ Lakers 🌊🏀 Rams 🐏🏈 Kings 👑🏒 Galaxy 🌌⚽️
Wrong video bud lol
You got all of these right except for Galaxy. I’m not saying I’m a fan of all of those teams but the dodgers don’t support Galaxy, they support LAFC & most of LA backs them over Galaxy these days.
Pretty sad deal for him. For some reason however his pitching seemed to be deteriorating in 2023 from his first game until he was suspended.
I guess his psychological problems were affecting his performance 😕😕
We need way more of these Doug well done! 🤙🏽
Excellent summary. Although what Julio Urías did on multiple occasions was despicable. I don't agree with the Dodgers decision to remove his Mural at the Stadium or final out of the World Series promotional video. They have become too concerned with Cancel Culture we saw the mess that was created on Pride Night So much so that Clayton Kershaw single handedly brought back Christian Faith Night. This Fan base deserves all the recent success. We lived thru the FOX & McCourt ownerships + Bankruptcy Also the Team lost 3 Hall of Famers in Mike Piazza Pedro Martinez and Adrian Beltre.
If banishing means an abuser is actually held accountable, and this deters just one athlete from beating the shit out of a woman, then it’s all worth it. If you’ve ever seen photos or listened to stories of battered women, then you wouldn’t be moaning and whining about “cancel culture.”
I hope Julio Urias somehow makes it back to the Big Show, but from a Dodgers fan perspective, let's be honest. Urias wasn't going to be a Dodger in 2024, so there could have been a small chance he would be pitching against the Dodgers - maybe the Giants or Padres or D-Bacs would have considered signing him
Thank you for this absolutely great, detailed account of Julio's career to this point. I truly feel bad for him, coming from nothing to the pinnacle of baseball in 2020 and continually rising and on the cusp of a huge contract and eventual big payday.
He made a terrible mistake twice and I really hope that he gets the help he needs.
I was so disappointed when I heard the news of his domestic violence incident...No excuse for his actions! Call him Tonto, Pendejo, or what you may. I think that since he was signed and achieved success so early, he felt that he was invulnerable, and could do or act as he saw fit. At age 16 the frontal cortex of the brain is not yet fully developed, and perhaps he had a skewed reality and thought he was invincible and could do whatever he wanted because of his prowess and success in MLB.
2020 was such a fantastic year, despite COVID-19 and what all of MLB had to go through. It really made the World Series Championship that much more special.
Thank you Dodgers Nation!
And his timing was horrible-just before he would have been asking for a long term, $200 million contract!
@@gregoryk.tanaka4285 so true! He was on the brink of a huge pay day!
If the District Attorney goes forward with charges, he still has to worry about going to jail for a felony.
He's done man he will face time so what he's going to do is bail out he ain't the balls to do time.
This was excellent. Agree...More Dougumentaries
2019..... strike 1
2023..... strike 2
so, give him another chance before he is out???
@@mikeykimm6719NO HES A CRIMINAL

@@mikeykimm6719 it’s so much different in 2023
And mike tyson served his sentence so Julio can to
Good job, this was done really well.
This is just really unfortunate. As a life long Dodger fan of Mexican decent, I was very prideful watching Julio pitch. He represented us like Fernando represented my father. I hope he can get his life back in order and one day redeem his career. Buena suerte Julio!
Excellent work Doug.
This is your best work yet. Great documentary.
Closest pitcher we had to Kershaw potential. I had the same feeling about Kershaw when he was coming up and said,,, closest pitcher we had to Hershieser.
Julio should try Japan. He may never get a chance for $ 200 million, but he still may have a chance at $ 20 million for the rest of his career, which I still don't think has hit the peak yet. Team up with Trevor in NPB, win it all there and be a HOFer there like Matt Murton with Hanshin Tigers.
Dang so he won’t ever play in MLB again?
No thanks.
Good stuff, Douglas!!! Been waiting for this one.
No empathy he made Money then got abusive ..his own fault …buenos nochas 😂
Julio let a lotta people down. And it’s sad too because I have been in his exact situation. Im sure he is as disappointed in himself as anyone. It’s hard to live with that shame. It takes a lot to control your emotions sometimes. But he has to learn like I did, there will be a price to pay no matter how sorry you are. It’s sad and a shame.
That’s was great DMac!
Angels need to sign him and Trevor
he needs to go to japan
I would bet Julio's dad had family violence issues that Julio ended up modeling. Very sad to see such talent wasted. I hope Julio gets help. We will remember the good things he did.
Well done sir, facts and straight to the point ❤❤❤. DMAC
What a shame. He threw his career away...
He’ll get a second chance , everyone makes mistakes .. it wasn’t like he killed anyone , people act like they never got into a heated fight with there partner
What a waste of a 2nd chance. Apparently the first go around of court ordered 52 week anger management sessions didn’t work.
This is why you always walk away. So sad that this would end his career.
Bring him back? Got to wait for the suspension ruling. But he is not coming back. Beating a woman in public in front of witnesses while being filmed is not something you comeback from.
Homie ruined his career
He messed up. Still miss you Julio.
I still rock his jersey dude brought home a World Series I separate sports and personal life professional sports really don’t do shit for me if I’m gonna watch sports I’m all about winning he can pitch 😎👀😴 plus trends show that the women usually stays with the man after something like that so what’s the point of crying over it plus he has money
He sure messed up...
Please I know what he did was wrong but Dodgers don’t let him go.
So is he or is he not guilty? There's no in between. Why can't they just show us the evidence they have?
this hurt so much! Still don’t know where i stand on this one. I hope we give him the opportunity to rehab himself. If there is anyone on the team, that’s a Dodger it’s Urias, meaning i can’t imagine him in another uniform. He seemed loved by his teammates throughout his career. I hate how the dodgers have distanced themselves from him and the situation. get him some help.
I don’t know about yall but this year the game on 7/25 I went to he is the starter and he wasn’t the Julio I seen in the past felt like he can’t focus on the pitching or something then his incident happened 😢😔
Look at what his agent Scott Boras did and said that day... the connection is clear
Julio realized he wouldn’t get that fat $200m contract and took out his frustrations on his wife.
What could've been... I didn't grow up with Fernandomania, just hear stories from my older brothers and dad of how it was. This was definitely my generation's version of Fernandomania... or could've been... one of the greats...COULD'VE BEEN... like Lorenzo said in A Bronx Tale... "Wasted talent"
His MLB career is over.
The ball drops tonight at New York times square 12:00 AM happy new year Eve end 2023 tomorrow January 1 New Year day Monday morning
I still rock his jersey dude brought home a World Series I separate sports and personal life professional sports really don’t do shit for me if I’m gonna watch sports I’m all about winning he can pitch 😎👀😴
I love this! Doug is the GOAT
Fabulous work Dmac!!
May former favorite player….damn you Julio.
Get em outta here respectfully
As Mexican born in the States... This sucks... We had Our future set with this great Kid de Culiacan.... But that's a key example for all nationalities.. Enjoy while you can.... Still Go Dodgers til I 💙 Die.....
Greay work Dmac..
As a mexican im disapointed of julio...idk if he ever will grow up
I knew it was over for Julio when he put green wheels on his Dodge Challenger.
How can anybody in the professional in any sports be getting in trouble I wish I had talent I would never mess my reputation dang I just don’t understand
Hope he get the help he needs
If he's convicted, he'll have a date with I.C.E. - Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Yes, because they don’t get to enforce deportation of illegal alien men of fighting age.
He is the perfect example of why a young athlete, from any sport, should not get married until their career is over. A famos Laker had a female escort on retainer in every city he played in. He never had any problem. Or even A C Green who abstained.
Competing at a Professional level can be extremely stressful and depending on the circumstances the athlete may not be mature enough to handle the stresses. Now a very promising career, that he worked hard for and earned has been derailed.
That's the lesson? :/
@@victorparedes6887 Sure is. These youngsters are taught and told that they are great, which in A way they are. But they have not reached the maturity level to have a good fulfilling relationship. Anything that they do is ok. Then they get married. They think that the rules don't apply to them because they are great. They can cheat because they are great, They sometimes get violent because that greatness is questioned. If he had stayed single and just had a escort in every city he would have that $200 million dollar contract. Now he is looking at long term unemployment, reduced earning potential and a loss of greatness. It doesn't happen to all young athletes, but the potential is there for all of them.
F-a wife beater....period. Prayers to the victim 🙏🏽
He was never charged. The lady never pressed charges. It could get dismissed. It could be a setup or mistake. We never saw the evidence thet have
Come on, he pretty much acknowledged he did wrong by saying he had to be better the 1st time around. Just because she didn't press charges doesn't mean he didn't do a bad thing
Whoa now bro. CR7>Messi. I caught that hot take you trade to throw in there.
very well done, great video
Good job McKain. 4real mon.
Hope Julio recovers and returns to baseball.
What is concerning is that he would do that in public knowing what he did previously, and possibly the biggest opportunity coming to him in the off season… you can imagine what he might be like privately when he is pissed off. Very sad to see someone with Phil 4:13 tattooed on his neck, but has no self control. 😔
Huge fan so disappointed he let everyone no one more than himself down.
the silver lining is that this all happened before the Dodgers paid him a fat extension
That was an outstanding outline of a tragic story. I hope Julio gets his personal life in order, he's still young. I appreciate his talent and competitiveness but I just can't abide a man the beats on women. He did this to himself. I loved him as a player but despise his personal behavior.
What happens if he’s proven innocent? Or is he guilty until proven innocent?
It should be innocent until proven guilty but we all know that's not the case in today's world. Perhaps it never was.
Cmon Julio you let us down😔
He is still a young man so I hope he gets all the help needed to at least be a decent human being for the rest of his life.
More of this from DN! 🔥🔥🔥
Doug I think you're good... but don't do negative takes...
Not now... give it time blood...
Great Job DMAC.
Osuna and now julio this is hard
Anything DMac can’t do? 👀 Continue keeping it legit in 2024!
He was great pitcher for us. If he was available now of what Dodgers added!! Sad!!
Yes very sad way to exit your career. He was one of my fav pitchers. I forgot he got injured in 2017-man imagine if he would have been on the roster for the WS? Even with HOU cheating it still might have made the difference to have Urias taken on our team that postseason. Ugh.
Dude always had a weird vibe to him. He seemed pretty antisocial in the dugout and never really engaged with the team.
Clickbait bro. Nothing new is presented here.
So what is the conclusion? Is he done forever?
What's that got to do with DV
he casually snuck in the Uriace in there
Que pena que Julio no aprendio con la primera ves, ahora no creo que vuelva a pitchar aquien las mayores
I mean you don't hear Japanese players getting arrested for DUI let alone rape or domestic violence. They're disciplined, responsible adults. That's why education is so important.
Wow what a great story to come from all does life struggles and to be at the top of the city to end it all over not having self control and let your emotions get the best of you sad ending to such a great story but what a coward putting hands on any female is a big hell no best of luck to the victim that we forget has to go through life dealing with the constant reminder of being humiliated and abused wishing her the best on her journey ❤️ self love first
It's really a damn shame smh. He was the ace even though he was having a down year .. a rotation of

D may and gonslin on the way. Godddaaaaaammmn lol really a damn shame....
I think the homie was frustrated with his pitching struggles. He lost velocity and command of pitches.
Dude has a nasty attitude
Biggest disappointment in dodgers history ! Not even back to back nlds losses can compare to this huge loss of Julio Urias ! In the mound he wore his heart on his sleeves and sometimes I’d look at him and think , man this brother has anger issues SURE ENOUGH
