Andrew Huang. Usually makes songs out of different sounds. Some videos even have songs that other people make new songs out of the same sounds and they're so different
In keeping with this video, may I suggest PTX performance of "That Thing You Do." at the 37th Kennedy Center Honors in 2014, a tribute to Tom Hanks. Not only for the performance by Pentatonix but for Mr. Hanks reaction. A reaction video of a reaction video, so to speak.😁 As always whatever you decide to do Miss Renee will be great. 🔁🥳🥳💃👍😎🖖🔁
Can I just say that my boy Kevin is an insanely talented man, great at beat boxing, great at singing, super nice with fans, a christian that supports lgbtq+ friendly religion projects, knows mandarin, talks about important topics on his platforms like blm, political issues, honestly, what a nice guy
Avi Kaplan help him develop his singing voice when they were roommates after the SingOff win. Kevin's electronic cello is called Mr. Carter and his traditional cello is called Beyonce(add accent here). Let's not overlook his saxophone playing. He has one saxophone performance at Carnegie Hall on line.
That Carnegie performance was when he was 17. There are several performers on that vid, but he's the first one up. He's not a fellow Juilliardite with you, but he did graduate from Berklee. He also has a pre-Med degree from Yale. And he speaks Spanish, on top of English and Mandarin. How does all of that fit into one body? Search me.

@@maggiereneemusic you wanna see another thing that will blow your mind check out 2 cellos thunderstruck, smooth criminal and they don't really care about us thats just good fun
Kevin is also a Yale Graduate. His plan was to become a medical Dr and work in China as a medical missionary. Scott Hoying found him on youtube and they were just days from entering the contest on NBC and desperately needed a beatboxer just like they needed Avi the bass. The medical missionary took a back seat and he like the other PTX members became a multimillionaire.
Kevin said in an interview when the album dropped that it took about a year to figure out how to make the electric cello sound like a guitar. The evidence of success is here.
Kevin also has a Pre-med Degree from Yale! He came in 2nd in Yoyo Mah's World Cello Contest. He is awesome. Isn't it amazing that these 5 people were perfectly aligned in the stars to meet when they did.
Loved watching you geek out at every level Kevin hit! Talented is such a mundane word for all of his achievements throughout his life! And the smile on his face at the end was priceless, as was yours!

Those bars of "electric cello" brought back memories of Charlie Daniels on "Devil Went Down to Georgia" when it was the Devil's turn. You rarely hear a fine stringed instrument make that style if sound. And until now, I had never heard it from a cello. Amaze-balls! 😎😸
9:40 he didn't record himself beatboxing again that second time. he played back the beatboxing from the first time and added stuff with the drum pad that you hear continue after the beatboxing stops.

Maggie, if you want to hear him play the SAXAPHONE at Carnegie Hall.... when he was SEVENTEEN.... (B4 he joined Ptx!) I think your mind would be blown double what it is right now!!! You can't even prepare for the level of off-the-charts talent he possesses on the sax!!! But aside from that, his other work on his channel is phenomenal. He performs other modern covers + classical numbers & Christian music as well. As you can tell, I am a KO super-fan! He is so incredibly talented in so many areas you just won't believe it all. But the MAIN reason I love this man is because he has a beautiful soul & a heart of gold. He does many wonderful things for charity & just people in general. His soul is full of love & light & he is amazing! I hope you will take time to research him. Thanks for reacting to my boy!!! XO 💜
He grew up in Kentucky, and I think some of his accent is due to that. When he was at Yale he entered a contest to play with Yo Yo Ma. He came in 2nd place. Yo Yo Ma said his use of the cello was the most creative he'd ever seen. Great reaction. Thank you for appreciating him. He is one of the most intelligent entertainers out there.
I missed the livestream of this, but this is so cool. His voice is great with putting that slight breathy quality in, and those highs too. Plus all those runs on that cello, it sounds like he put some distortion on it. Thank you Maggie for bringing this, I like the way you layered in at times, ying yang arrows.
If you didn’t already know the story, the first 3 members of Pentatonix invited Kevin because they saw the video of him beat-boxing and playing the cello at the same time. Best decision they ever made! He’s so unique!
A couple of things. I believe Kevin owns both an acoustic cello and an electric cello. He used the electric one for this video and ran the sound through a distortion pedal. Also, as well as being a classically trained cello player, he is also a saxophone player. Although, I only know of one video on youtube in which he plays it.
Great reaction Maggie! Although they are all immensely talented I have come to believe Kevin is the most talented member of Pentatonix. If you want to hear Kevin playing cello and beatboxing as part of Pentatonix, you should react to their cover of “Shallow”. Although he plays cello on a few other Pentatonix videos, this is his most beautiful playing IMHO. And he is playing Beyoncé, which is the name of his acoustic cello.
Lemme ask the question that's (Or should be) on everyone's mind while watching this video. We all know he is absolutely talented in both instrument playing/ beatboxing / singing. BUT HOW IS HE NOT OUT OF BREATH! Right after this beatboxing sample, he just comes back and sing as if nothing just happened!

He graduated from Yale majoring in Cello, and was supposed to be heading to Medical School, when Scott Hoying called him and sold him on joining what became Pentatonix for the summer. Apparently, Kevin decided that if Pentatonix worked out, he could stay there, otherwise, he could, at worst, start medical school one year later.

GO KEVIN !!!! So good......
Another awesome reaction! Just one thing that you may have missed, being too caught up in all the excitement: that was done in a single take... 🤯
Kirstin have a whole solo album. She wrote the sóng and their lyric as well as the production is very meaningful. I hope you can check out the mv of that album.( They are on Kirstin's channel)

I really do enjoy your reactions! this song is amazing. have you seen Adam Rupp's "drum solo"? it is the beatboxer from homefree doing a full 10 minute beatbox set during the middle of a show. it is an amazing watch.

he has a live show with PTX it is called Kevins 5TH Mind Blowing
He graduated from Yale majoring in Cello, and was supposed to be heading to Medical School, when Scott Hoying called him and sold him on joining what became Pentatonix for the summer. Apparently, Kevin decided that if Pentatonix worked out, he could stay there, otherwise, he could, at worst, start medical school one year later.
Thank you for your comment. Did you like the new reaction video to Pentatonix I just posted?

Kevin is just the backbone of PTX. His versatility allows them to cover so many genres seamlessly. And then there is his singing . . .
🤗
Not many people know Kevin is also an accomplished sax player. Here he is in Carnegie Hall at age 18!
Maggie don't you ever apologize for nerding out we love you because you nerd out and when you do that you explain alot of stuff that we would have never known had you not nerd out and explain stuff so don't apologize for nerding you we love when you do that 🤣
Accent on second syllable. O-LU-so-la.
Definitely a Renaissance man.
Watch Scott and Mitch sing defying gravity on Superfruit. 🔥

Just FYI, Olusola is pronounced "Oh-LOOSH-Oh-La". Dude is a MACHINE!! He is the hidden talent in Pentatonix (although Pentaholics realize how talented he is)...IMO the backbone of the group.
