    Thank you Robert for sharing. I too am looking to build in the area. I have seen many sub-standard products and materials only available. I currently have been researching where to get and purchase quality building materials. It can get expensive shipping in from Manila. Amazon is your friend! I hope to meet you in my travels around the area. Regards, Tim

    You've won a new subscriber from Australia here. Thank you for the interviews with Robert and Gordon. We have learned a lot from these 2 gentleman especially about the challenges they have experienced. It will come in handy for when we build in Bohol.

      5 months in the Philippines and you are building a house! Do you realise you cannot own land in the Philippines as a foreigner? If you have a filipina wife great, by all means build a house, but if you just recently met a filipina and she is requesting to build a house I would thread very carefully.

    Thank you for this interview. I may have missed it, but what are the square meters of that house? It appears at 7.4 million pesos is a bargain for a premium level house.
    Also, can you say more about the windows and how they are considered premium? What is the casement? Double or triple pane?

    • @expatguideph
      @expatguideph  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      my best estimate, house is around 300sq.m and whole property is around 1k sq.meters

    Add about 20% for the work you'll have to get completed twice due to incompetent contractors

    I am scared to hire a contractor. Misunderstandings occur in abundance, and conflict resolution is all about who has the biggest hammer. Why so expensive? Because he has the money to buy himself out of a problem. This is not a success story for a retiree who has only so much money. Showing people how people with money do things is just showing off how people with money get separated from their money. People will work but no one wants to be responsible. Management is needed, but misunderstanding favor against the man with the money. I know of a happy story, but his father in law was supervising. I really not heard of the happy stories without family connected Filipino management.
    Leah, please prove me wrong.

      I understand why you're scared to hire a contractor, I think research plays a big role before hiring one... track the success stories of the contractor... and yes sad to say, a lot of successful stories has to do with personal supervision... I do met some people who are happy with their home using contractors, no family involved... If only I can find to agree for interview hehe 🙂 will tag you once I have it 🙂 Thank you sooo much for your support in my channel 🙂
