Alan Rickman knew Snape's motivation from Rowling from the start of filming even though just 4 books were written at the time. He never revealed what she told him and even refused directors orders because of it, he held onto his promise not reveal what he was told even after the films were finished. He played Snape brilliantly, in retrospect there are so many subtle expressions, gestures and nuances to Snape that suggest there is more to him that meets the eye, something that simply could not be done in the books because it would give too much away. Snape is one of the most complex and surprising character in literature and even so much more in film thanks to the great Alan Rickman.
This right here is why rewatching and seeing all of snape's scenes with harry is so magical-- and Alan knew that would happen. Instead of the random switch up, you could always see Snape holding something back, always tell he cared more than he let on. Alan Rickman was a great actor-- nobody else could have ever played snape in my mind.
I wouldn't say one of the most complex characters in literature. You must not have read enough literature. But, certainly one of the most complex characters in mainstream cinema, and one of the best. I'd say maybe the second best, most profound 'anti-heroes' in all of fiction, though maybe it's more like 3rd or something. Easily the best British example, right along aside Moore's Watchmen (if we count this as British -- under DC, an American company). Rickman was perfect and, yes, he knew all about Snape from early on.
@@TheClassicWorld @Classic World I agree mostly (I have been bookworm since childhood actually 😏) but I still think Snape's arch is unique because for 7 books and tausends of pages he is mostly suspected as a vilian, with doubts, but negatively overall, then he is a murderer and traitor until suddenly at the end of the 7th book there's a nearly 180° turn explaining his actions in a completely different light from the very beginning. That's pretty unique in my opinion...
It wasn't from the start.... He wanted to quit the franchise and Rowling gave him this piece of info to keep him there. Once Alan Rickman was told this crucial information he knew it was very important to stay in this role and really connected to it.
Alan Rickman didn’t actually want to continue playing Snape at the start. J.K Rowling revealed his story to him and that convinced him to stick through it.
Snape didn’t love Lily. He was infatuated with her and saw her as a possession. You don’t truly love someone if you are willing to betray her husband and son and then have no remorse for it asking only that Voldemort spare Lily for him but having no care whatsoever that James and Harry would die. He’s an incel who was always selfish and the only reason he switched sides was to get revenge against Voldemort for selfish reasons. He never renounced his old way of thinking or showed remorse for the terrible things he’d done. He was upset because the woman he simped over who didn’t love him and told him she wanted no part of him because of how despicable he was got killed. He never ever actually cared for Harry and always resented him because he was part of James and made him jealous. Even at the end when Dumbledore asks “even after all this time don’t tell me you have come to care for the boy” he flat out says “no” and then produces the patronus of a doe showing his obsession with Lily. If he truly loved Lily he would care for Harry and love him because it’s the last part of her. He was brutally mean to Harry and it wasn’t cause he was “hiding it”. There was never a reason to “hide it.” He was a murderer, bigot, and torturer who bullied children mercilessly. Making fun of a 12 year olds girl’s (hermione) teeth to pick out one of her insecurities and break her down so much so that she felt like she had to magically alter her appearance permanently and for one of your students biggest fear in the world to be you when said student (Neville) has actually experienced other true horrors like with what happened to his parents is disgusting. He’s a grown adult verbally and mentally abusing children. Snape is a loathsome and vile person and deserved much worse than he got. He is a small small man and I hate that people think he was a hero. He wasn’t. Everything he did was for himself and no one else and some of those selfish deeds happened to help the good side but that doesn’t make him a hero.
Helena asked Emma to play the scenes first in costume as Bellatrix in a rehearsal then went and recreated it herself on the main shoot copying all Emma’s mannerisms... it was absolute genius.
It went down rather differently in the book, but then a lot of things were different. Harry and Luna defeated the Carrows in the Ravenclaw common room.
If only someone bothered to give Harry's mother some lenses to match Harry, or cared to edit his eyes to be the right color...Because I cringe everytime they say "You have your mother's eyes" when he clearly doesn't.
@@NatSussNotSeuss Exactly! Like, I can understand Redcliffe being allergic to green lenses, but there's so many ways they could've fixxed it. Ask an actress to wear blue lenses then, make blue eyes canon to the movie version of Harry...Or use some CGI or simple color-correction to make them green..Or just simply stop bringing that up, especially when you don't need to say it out loud.
@ALMAS You misinterpreted what it meant by “he has her eyes.” They didn’t mean it literally. They were referencing the fact that Lily always looked at everyone with kindness and compassion and looked for the good in them and how Harry does the same. So in a sense, they do have the same eyes.
You are that fun friend to watch a movie with who reacts just how you hope they will at all the right parts, and who just seems to get it! Thank you for these videos!
@@joshbanshee7542 to be honest he kind of expelliarmuses Voldemort's avada kedavra, because of the connection to the elder wand. So technically the elder wand kills Voldemort with Avada Kedavra, and the wand belongs to Harry right ? 😄
now we know that dumbledore's "severus, please" in Half Blood Prince was not a plead for mercy. it was a plead for snape to take the biggest sacrifice by becoming the villain in everyone eye.
@@helijuuulia It would appear so in the movie, but in the book, Dumbledore was on his knees *begging* -- and Snape seemed angry and hateful, not hesitant and uncomfortable.
13:56 But did you also see Snape redirect Mcgonagall's own spells to hit the two death eaters behind him? He knew he couldn't stay and retaliate against Mcgonagall so he knocks out any other resistance, makes it look like an accident, and dips. He was too good.
@@carlosrvradidn’t take their wands. Slow it down frame by frame. I hate this about the movie because what actually happens to the Carrows is way better because it only proves more that Harry is able to defeat death eaters and he does it defending Mcgonagall.
In the books before the battle Harry is in Hogwarts castle under the invisibility cloak and a death eater spits at McGonagall and Harry immediately steps out and uses the Crucio on the death eater. Saying he finally understands that you really need to mean it. McGonagall is so amazing, and Maggie Smith is perfection as her.
I hate that they cut the scene where McGonagall takes like, MULTIPLE jinxes defending Hagrid in a previous book. They talk about how badass she is. They know, everyone at Hogwarts knows. 😊
Imagine growin up with those characters. Im the same age they were year after year, reading the books, and then waiting for the movies (movies were 2 episodes behind the books, when ep.6 book was about premiere, in theatres episode 4 was kicking in) and for all these years since a little kid, every one hated Snape! hated to the bones, and then this MASSIVE plot twists about him !! It was so powerful, that even when to movie came out and we already knew the saga ending, when they show this Snapes twist in movie it was even more massive than in books. After the last part of HP I freaking LOVED Snape. The best character ever written, and portrayed with SUCH A FANTASTIC way by Alan Rickman (R.I.P.) Fantastic character played by even more fantastic actor. It was such a joyride for all these years together with the cast. It was soooo sad that it has to end :( I love returning to this story. You gave me such a pleasure time, when I could rewatch this with You here on your channel.
Honestly I was just a lil too “old” when Harry Potter came out and my older brother wasn’t into it and so we never watched it. I can just imagine growing up with these guys. I was super SAD when this was over. I went into Fantastic Beasts and needed to take a break because I lived and breathed HP for 2 months straight and it was hard to watch anything else after that. Back to the Future helped me get happiness back 🤣 thanks for watching! I’m DEF a Potterhead now and ALWAYS
"Albus Severus Potter, you were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin, and he was the bravest man I've ever known." is my favorite line in the entire franchise because it shows that even though Harry never had the best relationship with Snape, he respected him and was greatful for everything he had done.
And the boy's initials are ASP; and he DOES end up in Slytherin House. By the way, more than once someone's prejudicial and/or superficial opinion is stated as if unshakeable fact, but is in fact baseless. That includes the surmise that Slytherin House was all villains and dark wizards. Houses are based on certain mutual values, and it so happens the values held by Slytherins can too easily trail into the Dark, but even Slytherins have choice. Draco came back. Slughorn was a Slytherin and fought on the side of Hogwarts, against Voldemort. Prospering is a Slytherin value, and both Draco and Slughorn saw no prospering under Voldemort's rule. @@holddowna
@@thejoeschmoshow it was great in 3D when Neville chopped Nagini's head and Voldemort flaked away. Thats one of my favourite bits with when Molly Weasley said to Bellatrix (saving Ginny) not my daughter you B....
From the differences in reactions to this film and the others before it, it seems that she has seen this part before. She didn't act surprised and shocked when the scenes called for it, as she had always done in previous films.
In the books it reads that if you love someone enough, ur patronus can change to theirs. When Dumbledore asks if Snape loves Lilly still after all this time and Snape replies: "always" is such a heartbreaking moment
Snape''s patronus was always a dove irrelevant to Lily's. He learned patronus after he and Lily separated. So while theory about his patronus changing to same as Lily's it is in the end just a cute theory.
@@shubhojitpal5490 The same with Imelda Staunton, who played Dolores Umbridge. She and Emma Thompson, who played Sybil Trelawney are actually best friends in real life and even live in the same neighbourhood. Imelda Staunton has called Dolores Umbridge an "evil bitch"
I discovered you from your Harry Potter reactions and I’ve been watching as I’m reading the books for the first time (I know, crazy). Watched the movies since I was a kid, and as they came out. Your reactions are such a joy to watch. Excited to dive more into your channel 💜
@@holddowna I’m currently on Prisoner of Azkaban! I’m also loving them, so glad you are too 🥰 I think my favorite thing about them so far is Harry’s deeper relationship with all the Weasley’s that wasn’t shown in the movies. Harry staying with them for a month in Chamber of Secrets had me crying!!!
THIS is the reaction I’ve always wanted. I love that you can follow the plot and keep up with characters and events as things happen. And I love your emotional responses because I felt them all the first time I read the books. You have earned a subscribe from me. I’d love to watch some periodic updates as you read the books too, if that’s in the cards.
32:23 In the book they explain that a patronus can change to match another’s, specifically the one we love. Lily Potter’s patronus was a doe. So when Dumbledore asks: “Lily… After all this time?” He is really asking: “You still love her… after all this time?”. If you rewatch the scene now a shiver will go down your spine as Snape say: “Always…”.
@LeeChaeyonsHusband Snape is a much more talented wizard than mcgonnagal, at an age like dumbledores he had potential to be on his level, something mcgonagal didnt have
That actually wasn’t the case what so ever as he initially pulled his wand out on Harry so the last of his worries was threatening somebody he cared about. He could of just not put his wand to Harry and it not happened. So sorry to tell you but you’re just wrong. If anything , her stepping in was bad and could of ended all hopes of defeating Voldemort. Snape didn’t know about Harry disarming Draco. Snape knew Harry would use the disarming spell out of any if threatened so Snape was trying to make the elder want become Harry’s. Luckily it already was. If Harry didn’t disarm Draco , her stepping in to defend him would of meant Harry wouldn’t of been the real owner at the end which is the whole reason the wand stops working and lets Harry defeat him.
Please do book reaction videos after each book! I’d love that! The books are just so wonderful. Especially books 4-7 have just so many more details and are so much more fleshed out! It will make you love the series so much more. Good luck and enjoy! I really enjoyed your reactions. You’re very charming and funny! 👍🙂
Great reaction - regarding the resurrection stone: The stone never was able to actually resurrect anyone - in the story of the three brothers, it just lets the brother who wished for it see his lost love. But they were still separated and could not touch. And in exactly the same way when Harry took the stone into his hands, he saw all the people he loved and lost. They gave him that final measure of incredible courage. And since they've always been there (as Sirus pointed to his heart), he no longer needed the stone. He knew they were with him. That's why he dropped the stone.
I love watching these reactions to the movies but I am so happy you are going to read the books. I wish I could read them again for the first time. And also go to the midnight releases at the bookstore. Debating with friends on what will happen in the next book. They will Always be my favorite.
The thing I really don't like of the whole series, is the Order of the Phoenix is the longest book, and the shortest movie. I feel like that particular story is much more different between the two than any other story. I don't dislike it, I find it weird.
I've been a huge Harry Potter fan for the last 13? years I think. And recently I discovered HP reactions on TH-cam and became super fan of those because seeing how people react to the development of this truly unique story for the first time seems like I am back in my childhood experiencing everything for the first time as well. Anyway, I'd say I watched too many reactions, and yours is truly one of THE BEST ones out there! So happy you fell in love with this story and became a part of the truly magical world! Thank you for these videos, it made many of my evenings brighter and happier because I saw how genuinely invested you were!
I started watching HP watchalongs recently, apart from this channel I've only seen Jay & Amber and Badd Medicine (both are good but I would mostly recommend Badd Medicine it was really funny to see one of the dudes go from "meh" to huge fan 😄). Is there good channels you could recommend?
@@AriaIsara You know, I had avoided Badd Medicine until I read your comment. Went back and watched them all (the Potter stuff), and I do not regret it. Thanks for that. Other good reactors - though none seem as good as Ames - include Vikunia (she can be a bit shallow at times, but I love how invested she gets in the characters), Holden Hardman (and his girlfriend, now wife), and SebScreen (a guy not afraid to cry, on screen). I do like Rob Squad (Jay and Amber) as well, though I sometimes don't care for their editing. I like their music reactions, too.
@@i.marchand4655 thanks for the recommendations 😀 Nice to know you enjoyed Badd Medicine haha I was hesitant to click on their videos at first (I started by watching their Indian movie reactions) because I thought "3 macho dudes, meh" but they're really nice guys, very open minded! I see it also when they do Indian movies which they're very new at and don't know the culture but aren't thrown off by it at all, and I haven't checked it yet but I know they react to "chick flicks" too 😄
Could you please do a final thoughts for each of the books? Like, after you finish the first book, you tell us what you thought, and what things surprised you that weren't in the films and then CoS, PoA, GoF, and so on. Loved this series!
I second this, there are so many little details missing from the books in the film adaptations (many of which I've probably forgotten since my last re-reading of the series - several years ago now)... would love to hear your take on them!
This is something many of your peeps would enjoy, I think, but I have a couple of things to suggest. To do this right, you might actually want to take notes while you read. DON'T! Just read and enjoy. When you finish a book, go find MovieFlame on TH-cam. He has videos for each book detailing the differences between book and movie. You could take skimpy notes during that, if you liked, and maybe turn that into an outline for your review. Just a thought.
I was in my late 30's when i first read the books. The first three were out and i made the mistake of binge reading them. I was one who had to wait nearly,a year for Goblet of Fire. The same was true for Order, Prince, and Hallows. But me being me, i reread the entire series before each new book released. Then came the movies. Ill never forget, i went to the old drive in movie theater and saw Sorcerors Stone and,Lord of the Rings Fellowship as a Double Feature. I am 58 years old now and am rereading the series yet again, probably for the 15th or more time and it Never gets old! I am happy to see you got the books and look forward to hearing your thoughts after you see just how much was left out of tge movies. I actually kind of envy you your first experiance reading this Masterwork!! I really enjoyed watching your reactions to the movies. Now Check out the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them series. The Story around Newt Scamander, Dumbledore, and Grindlewald. Enjoy.
Same! I’m 55 now and shared this magic with my sons in real time, reread all the books before each movie came out, waited in line for midnight book releases and actually went away for the weekend Deathly Hollows was published so I could read without distractions. It’s so hard to convey to people who can binge one after the other and get all the answers how exciting it was to wait for each book to come out - it was so fun and special ✨✨✨✨
Looking back the first 7 movies were building to the ultimate showdown between HP and Voldemort, and even though the chance for a letdown were high I'll be darned if the filmmakers didn't pull off the epic battle of all-time. On a personal note I had to go see the final film by myself when I was fighting a long term illness, so I never shared the experience of viewing this movie with anyone. So a big heartfelt THANKS to you Ames, for finally giving me someone to watch this with me after all these years. Til next time....
I hate how so many people seem to miss the fact that since they stole belletrixes wand, when they ask for hermione to present it she doesnt because she knows they informed the bank it was stolen, hence if she presents the wand they will know she isnt really belletrix
First of all, you should definitely look at the deleted scenes. Secondly, I LOVE that you were inspired to buy the books. This is exactly what fills up the heart of a reader like myself. Great reactions, cant wait to see whatelse you have coming
Honestly watching you reicht bring all the old feelings back I cry when you cry and laugh when you laugh this is the only time I have watched someone to the end of the video you are truly amazing
I am greatfull that I could be on the journey with characters as they developed. Books came out when I was two years younger than them and I really waited (and I still am;) for the letter from Hogwart. I red every book and watched every movie as they showed, so Im very attached to this series. I'm glad that it still makes mark on people even 20 years later.
One cool moment from the books cut out from the ending here is that Harry has been carrying his broken wand everywhere, but no one can repair. The last thing he does with the Elder Wand is use Repairo to fix his old wand. I thought that was a really cool moment. I just binged your entire HP reactions in less than a day. Great series. Loved seeing you make little discoveries all throughout.
The hug Voldemort gives Draco was improvised by Ralph Fiennes and looked so awkward because Tom Felton wasn’t expecting it 😂. Also it’s such a shame Draco’s redemption was cut there was a scene that showed Draco tossing Harry his wand after Neville pulled the sword out of the sorting hat. Unfortunately Daniel Radcliffe couldn’t catch the wand so they ended up cutting the scene
I think if they had spent more time practicing and planning Draco's redemption and him throwing the wand, then I feel it would not have been cut... The angle was off and I feel that is ultimately why it didn't make it in... they should have spent more time with bc we really deserved Draco's redemption... But I also still love that he wanted to stay on Hogwarts side, but the struggle that still persists in his love for his family especially his mother... it shows how complex his situation really was....
@@amberhoward7807 "The angle was off" That's Yates (and his team) for you. Sirius' death from the left side of the frame, Harry's Sectusempra against Draco that we don't even see, Snape killing Dumbledore from Harry's perspective for some reason, Ron and Hermione's first kiss where Ron's head is in front of the camera, Fred's corpse so badly shot that we can't even see who it was... Draco's scene helping Harry would've been terrible anyway because of the director's incompetence.
@@7felipe14 wow.... K. Weird how there are worse Harry Potter's and you want to bitch about the last 2 greatest movies.... Seems like you have something just against Yates and it's pathetic that you just let it seep all through your comment with no real reasoning... Have fun with that grudge mate..
@@amberhoward7807 So... Mentioning the bad direction/camera takes is to "have something against the director" and to "have a grudge"? Jesus lol Look, if you're Yates' relative or something, I'm sorry if I offended your family. Otherwise, why would you get so triggered?
That scene is stupid, you can't actually see anything AND it's not in the books. Also, do you seriously think Draco betraying Voldemort in front of everyone would make sense? They were surrounded by death eaters and Voldemort himself, his parents would be dead within seconds.
Loved seeing you experience these movies and can’t wait to see you watch the reunion. My daughter and I read the books together and she was around the age of the kids when we started, so they are a part of our history that we can always share. It was such a special time with everyone exploring theories between the books coming out and going to midnight releases at Borders bookstore. She and I had our own copy of the sixth and sat up reading it together as long as we could into the early morning hours…. So lovely to see your reactions.
genuinely one of the best reactions ive seen, the books bring a level of depth that could not even be reached by the movies, would love to hear your reactions to the books as well
you are so definitely going to love the books esp if you have an affinity for the marauders! there’s a whole fandom specific to that era of hogwarts pre harry’s time specific to the marauders :) can not wait for your thoughts on the books and the movie rewatches is such a great idea 🫶
You have really expressive reactions, absolutely love that in a reaction video. I actually just binged you watching the other movies yesterday so seeing this was a nice surprise! Glad you enjoyed it.
OMG GIRL!!!!!! You are going to love the books! My son just finished the first Harry Potter and we watched the first movie last night together! His first ever time! It is so magical! This world really is magical and even with dark themes, it brings so much joy to many people!
What's extremely heartbreaking about this film is when Harry reveals he isn't dead, for a split second, you see George turn to say "Fred look!" and he turns to an empty side making the F sound with his mouth, you only see it for a fraction of a second but its one POWERFUL second.
I just binge-watched your whole HP journey and I truly must say that this is the best reaction to this lovely franchise I’ve ever seen❤️ thank you for this content, loved every single bit of it and I’m so stoked you fell in love with these movies as much as I did when I first watched it as a kid🙌🏻🙌🏻 the books are indeed awesome and you should read them all asap, you’ll not regret it😁
Absolutely wonderful. Being with you on this journey is an absolute pleasure. You will enjoy the books even more, I promise. And we would love to hear a review of each book when you finish them! There are many, many differences. As a book reader, I struggled with disliking the movie changes for many years. But now I've come to peace with many of them. You earned a very rare bell notification from me! Thank you for your content!
I have watched about 10 different HP reactions. You have by far the best. You really got into it, paid close attention and gave great insight and predictions. I look forward to watching more of your stuff and I hope you enjoy the books. There is a lot they leave out that don’t hurt the story and reading them after the movies will feel just as new as your first watch through. ❤
I hope you watch the 20th anniversary reunion now that you have finished the movies, because it is SO emotional and amazing to see them all so many years later, and to hear things about their time making these movies that just makes you smile or melts your heart. So glad you loved this journey as much as you did, and that you truly got into it. You clearly paid attention and caught a lot of things, hints etc., which made your reactions even more enjoyable, and I especially appreciated how genuine your reactions were to both the happy and the sad moments. Enjoy the books! And PLEASE share as much of your book journey as you feel comfortable with because I would love to hear how you feel - especially about those new things that you didn't get in the movies at all!
Its so fascinating how you knew almost every big thing in the series before it happened. Very good reaction by the way. Loved this journey with you.😍. I also recommend you watch the reunion as well. Its a very good tribute to the entire series.
I subbed to you somewhat recently, but then I saw you reacted to 'Harry Potter' and figured I'd give it a go and see how your reactions were. I was not disappointed. I've watched the movies many times and read the books even more. I've also seen a ton of reactions for the series and yours may very well be the best I've seen. You didn't just watch the movies; you experienced them. I've seen some reactors just sit and watch something in silence and that is absolutely BORING to me. You were engaged, asking questions, trying to predict what would happen, and well...cried (a lot) haha. I thought you did a brilliant job and it was so enjoyable that I watched all 8 of your 'Harry Potter' reactions this week and I loved how many little details you were able to pick up. I read the first 3 books before they were "popular" and waiting for each book to drop was INTENSE, but oh so much fun. I still enjoy the books more because I think they add so much more, as books tend to do, but I still think these movies were terrific adaptations and you were 100% correct how the series does make one feel like a kid again. That's the magic of Harry Potter.
Thank u SO MUCH for watching! I lived in potterworld for 8 weeks straight! I watched one movie and then edited alll week (I was learning to do this all on my own and still am lol) and then once I posted I would watch the next movie and edit and so on. I was TRULY immersed! It was one of the best movie experiences of my life! And I am so happy to have grown such an awesome crew of people here on my TH-cam channel! I can’t wait to finish the books and if they do a new series I will for sure react to that! I haven’t finished fantastic beasts because I didn’t love it as much - although I thought 2 was better than 1. Harry Potter was so special, even thou I got confused in the end I think that’s ok - I never read the books. I am truly lucky to have enjoyed the ride with no spoilers!!! Thanks for being here means a lot to me! And yes I CRY ALOT lol
By far and about the best HP reaction series I've watched, you were so empathetically in tune with the characters and really brought that Hermione energy; you figured out so many of the twists without even realising how uncommon that is. Have an amazing time with the books, there's so much still to discover; the world's about to unfold x7 for you! ☺
Thanks soo much!! This was one of the most magical movie experiences of my life! I am so hooked and the newest biggest fan of HP! Halfway through Book 1 now!
I just finished a second viewing of your reactions, and I enjoyed them just as much if not more than I did the first time. If you do decide to re-react to the movies after reading the books, I guarantee that I'll be sitting here giving them a view and a like.
That line “lightning has struck” always gets me. I just imagine everyone in the order or DA constantly staying by the radio hoping one day to hear that glorious code.
Alan Rickman who played Snape at one point didnt really want to return to the role cause he felt the character was "unchanging" until JK Rowling told him way before anyone else Snape's true story and so he stayed with the role and played it perfectly
Thanks for taking us on this jouney! it felt like watching it again for the first time and that feeling is just so special. Perhaps we can get update videos on your book journey? Something like a video after X amount of chapters read? Very glad I found this channel.
This was an awesome time! I’ve seen the movies and read the books numerous times like others, but this brought back a ‘first time feel’. I’m getting old these days, but my heart has been full.
Out of the many reactions I have watched, you must be the best at catching small details and I absolutley loved watching the series again with such nice reactions! Thanks a lot !
A re-reaction after reading the books would be really interesting! Also, I recommend The Tales of Beedle the Bard. It’s a handful of short stories, including the tale of the three brothers! Would you consider doing little videos after each book you read? I’d love to hear your thoughts on things throughout the series that are only in the books (like Peeves!).
It was a magnificent journey Ames - thank you for sharing it with us! As Dumbledore said "Of course it's happening inside your head Harry. Why should that mean it is not real" in translation for the HP readers and viewers that although it is a fantasy world it is real FOR YOU. This always makes me emotional ❤ Also, the whole story is so deep with many layers. For example, as you said the one who was so afraid of death died at a very young age for a wizard (wizards usually live more than 100 years, Voldy was 71); while Harry who accepted death and did not know that he can survive got ( / chose) a second chance at life. This is only one example how well-thought out and poetic HP really is. You are going to LOVE the books. Me as well read them way after being a fan of the films so my advice for you would be not to read too much extra details / book spoilers, because when you are going to read the books it will feel like a whole new adventure again 🧙♂ I would be really interested in each book-review if you have time for such. After you read each book a short sumup video of what you thought of it, what made you emotional / laugh, what was surprising ... etc. You are a gem really with a kind heart - I wish I knew you irl 🥰 All the best!!
You are our crew and we loved watchin you reacting to this movies ♡ I hope you enjoy the books as mucho or more are the movies and om so jelous you having to experiencia this for the first time. We love you and keep going, you rock! Lots of love from Spain!
In the theatre, about 1/3 of us stood up when Voldemort killed Harry (prob those of us who read the books... to stand up for those who lost). Its was loud shouting and claps in the final wand clash. So magical to see it in theatres on opening IMAX night w/ my daughter. Again my daughter punched me for not saying Snape was with Harry all this time... ALWAYS.
just want to thank you for the pleasure of being able to take this journey with you. I have watched the Harry Potter series several times, and read the books before I saw any of the movies, and yet I still want more. You brought so many familiar emotions back as I first read then watched the series. So glad that you enjoyed HP so much. Welcome to Potter World, and if ever you need it, remember the spell... Ackio Tv Remote!
I love you now so much Your tears are so contagious, every time you cried I immediately teared up, although the films themselves didn't make me do that. You're such a vulnerable sweet poor little thing when crying, I just felt like hugging you and weeping with you. It was such a right choice to watch the films first, right now you're open to a much deeper, profound world. I didn't cry much for the films, because I had already bawled my eyes out reading. I cried all through Harry/Dumbledore's talk at the end of #5. I wish you have a tremendous time reading these phenomenal books
Harry was saved three times by a mothers love. Once by his mother who refused to get out of the way and died for him, once by Molly who defacto adopted him and loved him as her son, and finally by Narcissa who loved Draco more then she feared Voldimort.
@@Dropnostop going off that, Harry wasn't able to die anyway with Voldemort having part of his soul inside of him. Technically Harry had 2 souls and the killing curse only kills 1 soul per spell
Harry lived through three killing curses: -as a baby aged 1yr, in Godric's Hollow -as a child aged 14yrs, in the Riddle graveyard -as an adult aged 17/18yrs, in the Forbidden Forest Harry later becomes an auror for the Ministry of Magic. If I was a dark wizard and heard Harry Potter, who survived three deadly curses, was after me...I'd immediately turn myself in.
A very emotional reaction, but we expected no less. It's been a joy sharing this journey with you. A little thing on this last part, if you go back and rewatch the encounter between Snape and McGonagall, you'll see that Snape actually redirects McGonagalls' fire towards the Carrows' behind him then takes their wands before disappearing. You might at some time like to watch some of the deleted scenes from Deathly Hallows, particularly the ones concerning Petunia, Dudley and Draco. You may find them...illuminating. Once again, thank you for sharing your journey with us.
I've watched more than a few of these reactions to the series. Yours is by far my favorite. I didn't want these to be over either. I actually had to stop myself over the weekend of just banging them out one after another. I'm excited to see what you make of the reunion, but I'm waiting till tomorrow to watch it. About the 80 percent of viewers not being subscribed, personally I find it difficult to subscribe to reaction channels. While I love the content, you watch a lot of movies I've never seen, so I don't watch those. Which is probably the case for a lot of viewers. Your videos pop up for me high in my feed, so I'll still get to see the ones for movies I've seen before. Again. Great series. Really felt like getting to experience them with a friend.
I recently reread the books for the first as an adult and I was SO emotional so I completely understand how you’re feeling. The books are amazing - can’t wait to hear what you think.
You really are a good movie follower and caught and remembered way more details throughout this series than previous reactions I watched! So I was really looking forward to this video. Great reaction and nice idea with the intro as well! Thank you for this journey and have fun reading the books!
Pleaaase, read the lasts chapters of deatlhy hollows (from the 33 til the end)... It's so much emotional, all the descriptions of the harry feelings, the last conversation with dumbledore, the last duel with voldemort... it's just pure gold
fun fact: the first thing harry said about snape was "who is this man..?" and the last thing he said about snape was "the braves man i've ever known". i love that tho
I have ❤️'d this journey with you!! I am so jealous. I truly wish I could read the books 📚 for the first time again. To discover all the magical world as Harry did for the first time would be awesome. Enjoy your reading and take your time to soak it all in!
I just wanna say, thank your sm for being so interactive with me while I watch these lateeee. I’m super glad I found you!! You’re so warm and kind hearted🥹. I’ll definitely be looking through your channel now for your other vids. Love you!❤️
I shed a tear every time I listen to it. I remember watching Deathly Hallows part 2 in theater 4 times. The first time, I cried so much during Lilys theme in the beginning. Growing up with Harry Potter, it was like a final chapter of childhood watching that movie
Was such a fun time seeing you go through this journey. You did amazing reactions and are very honest and very excited for the interview and 20th anniversary reaction.. I don't know if you picked up on it but Snape is Harry's dad! You get a slight hint from Snape saying "he thinks the boy is his" and they have the same charm which doesn't happen from just loving someone but you'll find out more in the books. Looking forward to the rest of this journey with you!
Your reactions are priceless, like many said before me, and watching you react is such a rare pleasure, I'm not trying to be weird, and I can't help but feel indulged by watching new reactions to things I love, so I hope you would watch 'Fantastic Beasts'
Your reactions to these films were amazing! Glad you enjoyed the HP adventure! Would love to see you do LoTR if you haven't seen it yet or plan to rewatch it 🥰
Will be doing it and extended versions if they exist! I haven’t seen them since theatres! So I don’t Remember everything I can’t wait to revisit them! Thanks for watching HP was so special!
I still have my bumper sticker from the HBP book release that says ‘Snape is good,’ so I’m so excited you saw that and was on that train with me! So glad I got to see you enjoy these as they got posted! Keeps me feeling excited, like I’m watching/reading it all for the first time again. The books are 100x better imo! Hope you enjoy them!
@@holddowna if you like parodies, there’s a musical called A Very Potter Musical on TH-cam (with a couple of sequels). It’s hilarious and I think you might enjoy reacting to it.
Even having read the series from my middle school years when they first came out through my early adult years and watching each film in theaters, I still feel like a kid whenever I read these books or watch these movies. *** As far as questions about how and why for a lot of things, the Super Carlin Brothers made an excellent series, Dumbledore’s Big Plan. It goes over how it’s likely that Dumbledore was involved in pretty much every aspect of Harry’s life - *including how the Deathly Hallows allowed Harry to survive.*
You will ABSOLUTELY LOVE how Harry sees professor McGonagal again in this book. It’s a sweet moment between them that shows he cares about her. Edit: I finished watching your reaction and I was crying with you for everything🤣🤣😭. I’m so happy you enjoyed all these movies! I LOVE the books. Rereading them after forgetting some details is the best.
I've really enjoyed watching you go through this series. Thank you for sharing it with us! I've watched quite a few first time Potter reactions on yt and I think yours is in my top 3. It's oddly nice to see someone new to the series feel so deeply for a story I've grown up with. I subbed for the potterthon but I'll be sticking around to see what's next. Enjoy the books! You're going to love them. :)
The Imperio spell Harry and then Ron used on the Goblins at Gringotts is one of the three unforgivable curses that Moody (really Berty Crouch) shows them in Goblet of Fire.
5:55 It's not really a cool charm/spell thingy, it's one of the unforgivable curse. This spell rarely came up so I guess lots of people already forgotten about Imperius curse. Arguably the most horrifying out of the three curses.
As amazing as Alan Rickman was as Snape, and believe me, he was incredible, I feel that the movies took away a lot of Snape details that you are going to discover with the books. Snape's worst memory being one of them. The scene in Order of the Phoenix cut out the true reason why it haunted him so much. In fairness to the filmmakers, Phoenix was in the can before Book 7 was published, so they had no way of knowing why it was so horrible to cut Young Lily's scene out of it and just focusing on James' bullying. The scene WAS filmed though; there's pictures you can Google of Harry standing between the memory of his young parents arguing over Snape, and I question why they've never put the footage into an extended cut with the knowledge they have now. But yeah, with Snape, the movies do not cover the horrible things he committed towards Harry and Neville in particular. Not because he was spying, but just because he was vindictive and bitter about how horrible his life turned out and was lashing out in pain all the time. When the chips are down and the situation calls for it, there is nobody more brave and true than Severus Snape. He is not good. He is not evil. He's the ultimate shade of gray, and Rowling's writing puts that picture much more into focus than the movies do, so I hope you enjoy reading about it.
The movies leave out some of the bad things Snape did, but they also leave out a lot of the good things he did do. Nor do they show all the trauma that he suffered and that led him to be an immature adult who was not fully capable of regulating his feelings and his actions (with Hagrid, Lupine and Sirius something very similar happens)
True the movies paint James as this evil villain and Snape as some saint. James was indeed a bully and I in no shape or form condone bullying… however…James grew out of it as an adult while Snape went to the Dark Arts…(no…bullying is no excuse for Dark Arts sorry)…yes…Snape eventually redeemed himself which I am happy…but to paint James potter as this bad guy who wasn’t good for Lily is sad…James hated the Dark Arts…joined the Order of Phoenix to fight against Voldemort…died protecting his family going 1 on 1 against the most powerful dark wizard of all time WITHOUT a wand. Wish they cleared that up about James. Happy Snape redeemed himself at the end
@Abdur Rehman Ali I mean, the Dark Arts does not equal evil. Dark Arts includes curses. Many wizards on the light side used Confringo, the Blasting Curse. Severus himself used the Killing Curse at Dumbledore's request even though he knew it would hurt his soul to do so. Why did he do it? Because he was fighting for the side of good. If he weren't as knowledgeable on the effects of Dark Magic, he wouldn't have been able to brew the potion that kept Dumbledore alive for another year. Aurors were allowed to use the Unforgivable Curses once it became clear that Voldemort needed to be taken down at any cost. So the Dark Arts argument that Lily made towards Severus was very naive and childish. Dark Magic can be used by good people and without evil intent. The company he kept, and his goal to become a Death Eater was a more solid argument for her to make than what magic he chose to study.
@@abdurrehmanali7 No, the movies don't show James as evil, they some him for a comple of second as he was, a bully teenager. James didn't grow out of that, he continued bullying Snape (this time lying to Lily about it) and he even screwed up the date with Petunia and Vernon on purpose. The only thing that made him act more seriously was joining the war. Also, dark arts ≠ evil, there are countless examples. Even Snape, the only time we saw him use black magic as a teenager when he defended himself from his bully and the guy that tried to kill him. And even then, that course wasn't so different from any other they were taugh6at school.
Your comments at the end made me emotional 🥹🥹 I'm so glad this journey brought you joy, and I hope the movies do as much. I watched all the movies before I ever read the books, and my love for the series only grew after reading them, I'm sure you'll feel the same way, it never gets old. ❤️
Funny fun fact that you probably didn't notice during Snape's duel with McGonagall, pay close attention to Snape, he redirects McGonagall's magic to the two Deatheaters to stun them and first jumps to both of them to take their wands ^^

I read all but the last book last year for the first time and would love to see you react again after reading them 👏🏻💕 can’t wait to watch some of your other videos now and I hope that you’re enjoying the books
Be prepared for some differences in the books from the movies. There are so so many characters, other events etc that the movies just couldn’t fit in but the core story is still the same. They are amazing! Enjoy! This was fun, thanks! I have a lot of HP merch (bedding, throws, Christmas ornaments, and a pillow that says ALWAYS). There were so many questions I had going into the last book and was worried I would be left feeling like I needed more. But she did it! I felt so fulfilled when I finished the last book. (I read the books in my 40s… and like the Little House on the Prairie series, the writing gets more mature with each book). Lastly, YES, please talk to us as you finish each book.
I really really enjoyed watching your reactions. It was as close to the feeling of watching it for the first time as it can get. I truly appreciate you giving me that feeling. Thank you.
Loved watching your reactions. HP will forever be THE ultimate series for me. There is a reason why it's consistently nr 1 when it comes to fanworks, fanfictions etc. Because this world is so rich and the characters so well thought out and something about the story touches us deep down in a way that is almost like true magic.❤ Read the books, believe me, you won't regret it. They are so much fun and add so much that the movies really pale in comparison. And I'd totally watch you do a rewatch. Anyway, welcome to the fandom😊
Your reaction to this series was excellent. You will enjoy the books very much, and learn so much more about Voldemort's background, and so much more about characters that had to be scaled back, just in order to keep the movies from each being six hours long. Also.... "thank you" for flushing out my tear ducts, when you got emotional over various scenes.
Voldemort died for power, Snape died for love and Harry greeted Death with open arms.
The Three Brothers in the story of the Deathly Hallows.
And Dumbledore played Death's role in drawing them towards their respective fates.

Snape telling Harry to look at him is even more heartbreaking after you see his memories. The last thing he wanted to see as he died was her eyes.
If only someone bothered to give Harry's mother some lenses to match Harry, or cared to edit his eyes to be the right color...Because I cringe everytime they say "You have your mother's eyes" when he clearly doesn't.
@@almas4663 lol this drove me crazy, especially bc they show a CLOSE UP of her eyes in his memories 😂

13:56 But did you also see Snape redirect Mcgonagall's own spells to hit the two death eaters behind him? He knew he couldn't stay and retaliate against Mcgonagall so he knocks out any other resistance, makes it look like an accident, and dips. He was too good.
And took their wands, apparently.
Yes I did a quick zoom in
@@carlosrvradidn’t take their wands. Slow it down frame by frame. I hate this about the movie because what actually happens to the Carrows is way better because it only proves more that Harry is able to defeat death eaters and he does it defending Mcgonagall.
McGonagall stepping in front of Harry like that to face Snape... what an absolute badass. McGonagall and Maggie Smith. Phenomenal writing and acting.
She is in Gryffindor after all.
In the books before the battle Harry is in Hogwarts castle under the invisibility cloak and a death eater spits at McGonagall and Harry immediately steps out and uses the Crucio on the death eater.
It’s AMAZING
@@holddowna

32:23 In the book they explain that a patronus can change to match another’s, specifically the one we love. Lily Potter’s patronus was a doe. If you rewatch the scene now a shiver will go down your spine as Snape say: “Always…”.
Not a lot of people get this but i think its beautiful how kinda the last words of Snape and Lilly Potter's are the same in the Movie - "Always!"
Whoa - I never caught that!
Yep! its wild!
I love how Snape didn't want to hurt McGonnagall when they fought.
His eyes showed so much conflict and inner turmoil.
also, he deflected McGonagall's spells right at the death eaters behind him to take them out
@LeeChaeyonsHusband Snape is a much more talented wizard than mcgonnagal, at an age like dumbledores he had potential to be on his level, something mcgonagal didnt have
That actually wasn’t the case what so ever as he initially pulled his wand out on Harry so the last of his worries was threatening somebody he cared about.

Great reaction - regarding the resurrection stone:
The stone never was able to actually resurrect anyone - in the story of the three brothers, it just lets the brother who wished for it see his lost love.

Yes, this would be awesome 🥰
Enjoy.
Thanks Donald!!!! It’s been amazing! Thanks for watching
Hope you are doing well! Im happy I could share it with you!!!! Thanks for all your comments and watching along with me!
I hate how so many people seem to miss the fact that since they stole belletrixes wand, when they ask for hermione to present it she doesnt because she knows they informed the bank it was stolen, hence if she presents the wand they will know she isnt really belletrix
Yup, I keep yelling at the screen, and nobody hears me.
Thanks for watching it was such an epic and magical ride
I am greatfull that I could be on the journey with characters as they developed. Books came out when I was two years younger than them and I really waited (and I still am;) for the letter from Hogwart. I red every book and watched every movie as they showed, so Im very attached to this series. I'm glad that it still makes mark on people even 20 years later.
Love that!
Happy to have taken this journey with you! Such a great story. Looking forward to your content in the future!
thanks for being here with me!! its gunna be fun!
@@amberhoward7807 "The angle was off"
That's Yates (and his team) for you.
Jesus lol
Look, if you're Yates' relative or something, I'm sorry if I offended your family.
Very true.
I definitely agree I just subscribed right after the intro played lmaoo
OMG GIRL!!!!!! You are going to love the books! My son just finished the first Harry Potter and we watched the first movie last night together! His first ever time! It is so magical! This world really is magical and even with dark themes, it brings so much joy to many people!
That's what we did with my kids. We read the book then watched the movie, next book, next movie,
What's extremely heartbreaking about this film is when Harry reveals he isn't dead, for a split second, you see George turn to say "Fred look!" and he turns to an empty side making the F sound with his mouth, you only see it for a fraction of a second but its one POWERFUL second.
I just binge-watched your whole HP journey and I truly must say that this is the best reaction to this lovely franchise I’ve ever seen❤️ thank you for this content, loved every single bit of it and I’m so stoked you fell in love with these movies as much as I did when I first watched it as a kid🙌🏻🙌🏻
the books are indeed awesome and you should read them all asap, you’ll not regret it😁
Wow Martin! Thanks so much it mean a lot! I was quickly invested in this series! Books have been started!!!!! In my outro I do an unboxing 🤣🤣🤣
the "always" with the score in the background tears my heart into pieces every single time
Absolutely wonderful.
Wow, thank you! I am on book 5!!!!
Started following a few months back but just found and binged your Harry potter reactions! So freaking good!! ❤
If you do decide to re-react to the movies after reading the books, I guarantee that I'll be sitting here giving them a view and a like.
thank you so so much for watching the most amazing series with me! I still must re react im stuck on book 5!
That line “lightning has struck” always gets me. I just imagine everyone in the order or DA constantly staying by the radio hoping one day to hear that glorious code.
i cried when you starting reading the book out loud at the end
Alan Rickman who played Snape at one point didnt really want to return to the role cause he felt the character was "unchanging" until JK Rowling told him way before anyone else Snape's true story and so he stayed with the role and played it perfectly
Thanks for taking us on this jouney! it felt like watching it again for the first time and that feeling is just so special. Perhaps we can get update videos on your book journey? Something like a video after X amount of chapters read? Very glad I found this channel.
Thanks for being here Saul!! Yes I will do book updates!!
This was an awesome time! I’ve seen the movies and read the books numerous times like others, but this brought back a ‘first time feel’. I’m getting old these days, but my heart has been full.
❤️❤️✨✨
Out of the many reactions I have watched, you must be the best at catching small details and I absolutley loved watching the series again with such nice reactions! Thanks a lot !
A re-reaction after reading the books would be really interesting! Also, I recommend The Tales of Beedle the Bard. It’s a handful of short stories, including the tale of the three brothers! Would you consider doing little videos after each book you read? I’d love to hear your thoughts on things throughout the series that are only in the books (like Peeves!).
34:44 bc the resurrection stone works on the death he saw his love ones it doesnt work with him
It was a magnificent journey Ames - thank you for sharing it with us!
As Dumbledore said "Of course it's happening inside your head Harry. Why should that mean it is not real" in translation for the HP readers and viewers that although it is a fantasy world it is real FOR YOU. This always makes me emotional ❤
Also, the whole story is so deep with many layers.
Me as well read them way after being a fan of the films so my advice for you would be not to read too much extra details / book spoilers, because when you are going to read the books it will feel like a whole new adventure again 🧙♂
I would be really interested in each book-review if you have time for such. After you read each book a short sumup video of what you thought of it, what made you emotional / laugh, what was surprising ... etc. You are a gem really with a kind heart - I wish I knew you irl 🥰
All the best!!
You are our crew and we loved watchin you reacting to this movies ♡
I hope you enjoy the books as mucho or more are the movies and om so jelous you having to experiencia this for the first time.
ALWAYS.
Wow!!! Thanks for your comment
I would love to watch your re-reactions after you read the books.
just want to thank you for the pleasure of being able to take this journey with you.
THANKS FOR WATCHING! I love HP it’s so good!! Accio remote is too good🤣🤣
I love you now so much
Your tears are so contagious, every time you cried I immediately teared up, although the films themselves didn't make me do that.
And a fourth time when his mothers love being in Voldemort connected them to the earthly plain so that Harry didn’t die in the end.
@@Dropnostop going off that, Harry wasn't able to die anyway with Voldemort having part of his soul inside of him. Technically Harry had 2 souls and the killing curse only kills 1 soul per spell
Harry lived through three killing curses:
-as a baby aged 1yr, in Godric's Hollow
-as a child aged 14yrs, in the Riddle graveyard
-as an adult aged 17/18yrs, in the Forbidden Forest
Harry later becomes an auror for the Ministry of Magic. If I was a dark wizard and heard Harry Potter, who survived three deadly curses, was after me...I'd immediately turn myself in.
I absolutely love the beginning of your video.. showing your journey through the films
Thanks for your comment! Thanks for watching I really appreciate it!!
Thank you for this journey and have fun reading the books!
hank you for being here!!
you seem to have very high emotional intelligence, thoroughly enjoyed watching your reaction! Snap is by far my favorite character of the movies
1:04 the “lily’s theme” is one of my all time favs from this franchise. I legit listen to it on repeat. It’s so beautiful. 🥹💔🫶🏻❤️
I just saw this and screamed omg I’m excited!! 😂
YAY!!!!!!! thanks for being here!
By the lack of reactions at the most important scenes in this movie, it looks li she saw the film before.
You are gonna LOVE the books. And I’m definitely coming back for your after-reading-reactions!
Enjoy your reading journey.
Thanks Lunalove❤️

@@holddowna if you like parodies, there’s a musical called A Very Potter Musical on TH-cam (with a couple of sequels). It’s hilarious and I think you might enjoy reacting to it.
Even having read the series from my middle school years when they first came out through my early adult years and watching each film in theaters, I still feel like a kid whenever I read these books or watch these movies.

As far as questions about how and why for a lot of things, the Super Carlin Brothers made an excellent series, Dumbledore’s Big Plan. It goes over how it’s likely that Dumbledore was involved in pretty much every aspect of Harry’s life - *including how the Deathly Hallows allowed Harry to survive.*
Its the best reaction someone has ever given to harry potter series, loved your videos 🫶
thanks Megnog! means alot and thanks for the sub!!! we will have some more polls etc!!!! thanks for being here!
Thanks for your comment! Reading the books now so I can’t wait to see the differences!
Never gets old!
Funny fun fact that you probably didn't notice during Snape's duel with McGonagall, pay close attention to Snape, he redirects McGonagall's magic to the two Deatheaters to stun them and first jumps to both of them to take their wands ^^
I discovered your channel few days ago and all i have to say is that i appreciate an emotional person. I cried so much watching the movies over and over again and im happy to know that im not the only one getting so many emotions through out the movies !! So happy you did the whole serie. I absolutely ADORED your reactions to HP ❤ and I genuinely appreciate you showing your emotions and genuine love for the series ❤❤❤ I grew up watching HP and have watched it countless times and introduced others to it as well.
Thank you.
Thank YOU for watching
Loved watching your reactions. HP will forever be THE ultimate series for me. There is a reason why it's consistently nr 1 when it comes to fanworks, fanfictions etc. Because this world is so rich and the characters so well thought out and something about the story touches us deep down in a way that is almost like true magic.❤ Read the books, believe me, you won't regret it. They are so much fun and add so much that the movies really pale in comparison. And I'd totally watch you do a rewatch. Anyway, welcome to the fandom😊
I’m so happy to be reading them! Thanks for watching my reactions HP was very special!
