Lfa is the closest one for 2000gt.its the successor of 2000gt and when I say successor they have similarities of not very good sales,yamaha and toyota you know ?
@@eriksantoso1741 yea the LFA is a beautiful sounding v10 Perhaps make another one that's more readily accessible. The 86 platform was good but it wasn't a Toyota engine. I own the BRZ and I would've hopped it had a Toyota engine in it instead.
Absolutely loved watching the design process unfold, especially when you drew the separate turn signal and as i thought to myself that it could continue connected to the center section and BAM, you did just that. Nice work, now do the rear! 👍🏻
One of my favorite car designs and your redesign is pretty good too. I was yelling NOOO at the screen when you were over styling the front, so I'm glad you went with simple edges in the end.
She's a beauty that aged like fine wine. With the touches you made her a modern age of elegance. I have another marvel; a concept of the middle 90's the"Ford GT 90."
Thanks for doing this! The 2000GT is my all time favorite Toyota and one of the best old school JDMs. There are also some JDM tuners who have modernized this car.
Can you give the headlights a full disc of light instead of a circle? The circle creates an iris that makes us look at it as an eye and face and changes the way we look at the car and our brain ignored the other lines and design. And i agree with a comment above on wraparound a pillars to keep the original floating roof feel. And lastly, hope you can incorporate some practical body panel lines, rubber seals, thick a pillar for crash regulations etc so that it looked production ready. Apart from the baymax eyes, the rest of the car only reached the mid 80s and didnt reach the 21st century 😂
It could never be as beautiful as the original. Honestly the 2000gt was they most beautiful thing ever built by humans in my opinion. I don't think a modern version could quite capture the eye like the original . All sports and supercars now days look pretty much the same as each other. Unless Toyota literally copied the exact look of the old car it just wouldn't be as good looking whatever they do. But to see the old car with all today's tech and power would be the best thing Toyota could ever build. If reasonably priced it could be the biggest hit in Toyota's history.
FINALLY! I asked for this almost everyday a few months back. I actually really like the retro-futuristic look, though I do feel like some things are missing. Also, this video made me realize the front haunches of the 2000GT reminds me a little of the Corvette Stingray of the time.
Great job, love it so much... the 2000GT is such an awesome car... I would like to see how a fiat coupe or a Lancia Delta would be if they designed them during these years... I own both of these two cars and I absolutely love them... keep it up and greetings from Italy 🇮🇹💪
Love the redesign. Just one detail that I've seen in most if not all your retro redesigns: I strongly disagree with the C-pillar being body colored. It makes it look both antique and kinda fragile as well as breaking the continuity of the glass. There's a reason modern cars have thicker C-pillars. If anything, it should be thick and black to keep such continuity, just like how Koenigsegg does.
The Toyota 2000 GT and the Lexus LFA are probably almost illusive Japanese supercars. I totally agree they are some of the most beautiful cars ever designed.
Fun fact: After seeing Toyota make the 2000GT, Nissan returned to the idea Yamaha gave them earlier, and made the Z-car which is still a beloved sports car!
Gotta say, there's barely anything changed here. Just the front headlights and diffusers? It'd be nice to actually include a subtle redesign, improving on the rear as well, and placing it into a more modern approach. You could take examples from Lamborghini, which had avid models that transitioned to the modern age. Though not all are jaw droppingly beautiful, they can at least attest to a definite progression in design from the 1960s to the 2020s.
This is more like a resto-mod body kit thing that we are used to see in SEMA with something like The Ring Brothers than a what if it was built today redesign... it still looks cool tho, just not what i expected based on the title.
The redesign is awesome, getting rid of the chrome and keeping the round headlights work. The rim's tie it together. Does not even look like Toyota brand looks like a high end brand like Ferrari or Jaguar. NICE!

I like your idea. Especially if you could modernize the running gear with a high-horse engine, 6-speed Tremec, modern disc brakes, but keep the styling just like it is. Perfect.
I know I'm late and I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but your front end redesign looks quite a bit like the 1966 "311 S" racing prototype version of the 2000GT

We sort of have a modern 2000GT, the Toyota 86 has been said to have been a modern 2000 GT but I think in reality the Subaru version is more of a 240Z and RX-7 without turbos.

They have already done it????!!! Stare at the 2013 BRZ/FRS from any angle, including the interior…and you’ll see 2000GT body styling everywhere. It was THE inspiration for Toyota when they designed the 86 twins with Subaru!!
The A-pillar should have been black, that would keep the "floating roof" with "wrap around windshield" concept of the original intact.

I felt that way at first but he really captured the front style of the old design with the redesign. It looks retro modern (cyberpunk-ish).

Move the "eyes" further apart and then make the air intake bigger. That would give the car asthma.

I always felt the Soarer (Lexus Sc300/400) was the spiritual successor with the two round center lights.
I think you should make the pillars on the car quite a bit thicker, if you look at modern cars, they have big pillars for the airbags
It looks like a tuner version, looks like something that would be in a hotwheels movie and looks like a child robot that was slightly scared aswell.

Did you just remove the pop pop up and down headlights?
I think a slight bit of added girth in the front and rear fenders would put it over the top
Lacks the iconic-al lights that raises up and between the head lights, could've fit a grill the same size as in the original. Turned as a 8/10 :)
