- The best way to take #screenshots in the #Unity Editor is to use the Unity Recorder tool, which is free, flexible, and easy to use. In this Unity #Tutorial I show how to set it up.

You're welcome!
Just a note for anyone here: This won't work in Builds. Only works inside Unity Editor.

Can I do it in runtime? Like making a screenshot and putting a share button in a game made in Unity.
why in me there's no include alpha checklist button
I've been wanting to take screenshots of Unity game window but it always had a grey box around it and I had to crop out the sides. Thanks for this.
Glad, I could help.
how can i screenshot in Scene mode? thanks for the tutorial!
That's not possible (at least with this approach) as the tool only has access to the gameplay window.
One question please, can we take a screenshot with Simulator frame?
Is there a way to render an image with really high resolution / dimensions (8192x8192 and 16384x16384) ?
Actually, I have never tried that, and don't know whether there is any limit. Do you run into errors?
@@TheSecretsofApagayoIsland yea.. I have a good gpu (3070) and when I go for 8k+ it crashes
@@foolishonboards The screenshot has to be processed on the CPU, so it might be rather an issue with your normal RAM. Otherwise you have to open an issue on the Unity forum.
Hey, thanks for the video. Is there an option to take a screenshot without pressing the key? Like by using a function call from a different script?
Probably yes, because you can also trigger the recorder through timeline events. But there is no documented API for the recorder package, so you have to dig into the source code to find the correct method call.
include alpha is greyed out? Why is that? how can I make it not greyed out so I can enable it?
You probably need to set the image type to PNG, as the other types don't support alpha channels.
How To Take PNG Transparent Image. It's Not Working. Option Is Unchecked
Transparent PNG only works for a render texture, not for the game view camera.
Hey, I have created an interactive interface for my thesis and want the end user to be able to take screen shots of different interactions, will this work for the end user, or is it just for the creator?
This only works within the editor. For the build you need a different solution.
@@TheSecretsofApagayoIsland I thought as much, but thanks for your swift response. :)
can i do it without lauching a fukin game mode? just a screenshot from a camera view?
