when are you going to do a full game from fresh start to finishing it to very busy metropolis capital, where you use these types of passenger stations and cargo exchanges
@@Hushey There arent really that many people doing good playthroughs of TPF2, I think it would be a good idea. I've tried your cargo station idea and it clogs up really bad and if I could see you do it in an actual PT it might help me figure out what was wrong with mine.
And here I am, imagining all sorts of weird railway shenanigans we can do using this kind of station with the new 3-way switch in the Autumn update... 🤯
Over here where I live in the UK it's commuter (e.g northern), regional/regional express (e.g cross country, transpennine express, EMR regional) instead of intercity and then instead of cross country it's intercity/express (e.g LNER, Avanti West Coast, EMR Intercity).
UK here too! I just always lay things out really simply and try to make it easy to pick up and understand for those who dont have this train know how :D
What do you think about the longer loading times for the longer trains? The Commuter ones are fine, but the game will put the people only on the small part of the platforms that are connected to the station track. Because the Intercity and Crosscountry Trains are longer, they will reduce the loading time. Solutions? Or do you just accept that?
It really dosent effect that much to be honest. You can make the inside lane in the station all one platform if you so wish but it adds some limitations if you want to expand. Up to you, feel free to edit as you wish its just a rough guide 😀
I love all of your content! You should do a regular playthrough of the game at some point. I think people would love it. Perhaps you were a bit too ambitious with your previous series, we don't nesessarly need to start off with a 200 episode series. Even if you make a series that is complete with only a dozen episode, I think it would make a lot of people (such as myself) very happy. As other commenters have pointed out, no other TPF2 TH-camr has quite your energy, video quality and level of information. Since a lot of TH-camrs that cover TPF2 play other game and TPF2 is just one of them, you feel as if they are discovering the game, which makes the gameplay suboptimal. Although it makes for funny interaction, it is personally not the type of gameplay I'm interested in, that's why I love your channel that is fully dedicated to this game, which makes you very knowledgeable, and consequentially worth wile to watch.

Can you explain (or better yet do a video!) of how to apply this to the city layout on a map? This all makes total sense to me, but only if I imagine a long map with a sort of long line of cities. What about making this work when connecting up a spread out network of cities?
Love your Work bro..... But Hushey can you make a Lets Play series using all the strategies you mention in your videos... Like covering all the parts like how to build double tracks and how to put cargo trains on the all that.. It is going to mean a lot to me.... Love from India
@@Hushey Can you make a Video about Lines like how to Make Commuter, Cross country and Cargo like how should we lay tracks... Should we lay a different track for every type or should we combine them......?
Hey, recently bought the game and was going through your videos, great work :) Quick question on the signal placement, shouldn't the cross country signals be closer to the platform than the commuter/IC ones since you want the commuter/IC trains to stop rather than the other way round? (As the cross country will speed up away from the others)
hi hushey i have a question why terminals in truck station doesn't load goods equally (like i have 3 terminals in A station with 60 each capacity but it only shows terminal 1 with 80/60 and rest 0/60, 0/60) is this common or i am doing something wrong in my game.
Why don‘t you use x crossover switches along the platforms? These will allow incoming trains overtake other trains that are already occupying closest platforms from the entrance and leave main line quicker.
This works - you can do it if you like. The reason i do it this way is A) to keep it as simple as possible to not confuse viewers and B) because it solves a problem but creates an equal problem so the cancelling each other out just means i cant be bothered to do it lol
Doesn't it reduce passenger capacity per platform? Eg. if you share an Intercity and a commuter train platform that is split in two or three platforms?
Not capacity, no. It will decrease loading speed but only for cross country trains so it dosent really matter. You get up to 3x the loading speed anyway on every other service
I dont really use train mods at all! Especially when showing stuff off as it makes things easy so yeah its in the game. Turn on all vehicles in the settings of the save.
Is there a facility in TF2 where we can save the design we have made, so we can paste it straight away, without having to redraw it from scratch? for example the design of a train station
I was looking for that kind of "in game editor" aswell but didn't find one yet. Would be a hell of an update to include something like that. Kinda like the ship builder in Stellaris to edit and upgrade your ship designs. This for train stations would be really sweet.
Nice and Helpful Video but: It wont work in my game since a few days. I create the new (Commuter) Line and the moment i put a train on it the message appears, that Stations could not be connected or something like that. And then this whole Line is broken and the Message wont disappear. Maybe its because of the new Autumn Update??
You should use x switches, otherwise the trains will need to wait for the train in front. And I would call your commuter trains regional, commuter trains for me are rather local trains around a city (Crossrail, RER) and regional trains everything else local that is often rural.
It barely makes any difference. You lose what you gain on acceleration by decelerating your thru services. The idea with this video is to keep things as simple to explain as possible to not confuse people but i see your train of thought and everyone is welcome to modify the design how they like. In terms of names again the reason they are called what they are in videos across the board is to create a simple standard everyone can understand easily.
Glad you think so! It can, check out sheffield station which is where the inspiration is from but it has many flaws in real life. Luckily tpf2 has AI pathing to solve that.
Can you share some saves of your games (prederable done or almost done) so we can see that in practice fully? My cargo and pass trains also clog anyways sometimes. Maybe some huge map, megalomania maybe too much for my laptop xD
Currently, at least for the time being the place to get access to my current maps used in videos is on my patreon in the description. Idk if that helps!
Commuter = slow (lots of stops) Intercity = medium (less stops) Cross country = fast (very few stops) Intercity plays a vital role of getting people quicker to major cities whereas commuter stops everywhere and dosent discriminate
Doesn't the simple version have the problem with very long trains? Your platforms are too short. Can it use two consecutive platforms at the same time? You basically have 120m platform + 80m empty track + 120m platform. This is fine for multiple 120m trains, but what will a 320 m train do?
@@Hushey But the active platform is only 120m. Evan vanilla trains can be much longer. My question was if a train longer than 120 m will only actively use the 120 m platform part, or will it use two or more consecutive platforms
I think the average viewer wants simple and quick fixes - so 2 and 4 track mainlines being so easy compared 95% of people are gonna use that it just isnt profitable to make a video covering this when i could cover something else that will help more people sorry
I understand i go quite fast paced to fit the algorithm. Feel free to slow the video using the settings bottom right and or rewind. You can also ask questions on the community discord for feedback on how stuff works in context to your save
Cant see how the smaller station could possibly work, but going to give it a try. Have to get a gripe out of the way first your naming convention sucks. It makes no sense especially when in Ireland and the UK your naming convention is the OPPOSITE of reality. In future why not make it real simple, and use LOCAL, REGIONAL. and EXPRESS/LONG DISTANCE. anyway back to the problem I see. Two small LOCAL trains pull into the platforms. The first LOCAL pulls away and then a REGIONAL train pulls in and parks in front of the local train that was in the second platform. . Because the regional train is longer than the platform not only does it block the LOCAL train but it blocks the centre rail as well. The whole system comes to a halt.
Commuter intercity and cross country is literally exactly the same thing like said in several of my videos. It makes 0 difference what you call it, i call it these to make it consistant for people to avoid confusion. Would love to see your contribution to this, if you dont like the design please share a better one. The discord is in the description and pinned comment where you can attach photos.
@@Hushey sorry, but it is confusing. Intercity in Ireland means traveling across the entire country stopping only at 3 or 4 major towns or cities. Cross-country would mean a long journey stopping at virtually all towns. My point was to use terms that are either not in use, or that are totally obvious. LOCAL would obviously mean short distance, REGIONAL would mean covering an area in part of the map. Do you get my point? You are using terms already in use that have different meaning to different people in different countries. A lot of countries don't have loads of cities like the UK, so saying intercity instinctively would mean a long fast journey for most of your viewers.
