Heavy Recovery of Freight train - Sweden

In late night, a northbound freight train entered the station of Ludvika. An Rd2-class locomotive hauled a shunter and 36 wagons. There the shunter along with 10 wagons went off track. The V5-class shunter, weighing 48 tons, was in transport and unmanned. The shunter snatched the coupling to the Rd2-class locomotive, which came to a standstill 200 meters further along the track, and now remains where it came to halt. The Rd2-class locomotive was intact and no human was injured. Company BEKAB from Ludvika has been assigned to perform the heavy recovery operation. This video shows selected parts of the recovery.

It's interesting to see the differences between US and Swedish rail accident recovery. To me, the Swedish recovery process looks safer and more efficient

Apparently the get right to it instead of closing the line for a week while they "Investigate" It seems that in recent times the US has become hide bound with procedures, investigations, reports and every sort of official entity that can be thought of has to get in on the act.

@@organbuilder272 in germany its the same overloaded bürocratia for any job. for millions its better and safer to be an "important" person in an office for one micro piece of the bürocratia, than to work anywhere to make a solution or getting the job done...

they had luck, that the crash side was really easy to achieve with small amount of gravel and enough space for the crane(s) and trucks... on an other much more difficult site it would have taken much longer...especially in protective nature areas

What??? Nooo! "SPLAT" is something completely different, perhaps when someone lands after falling from the 20th floor, or if someone slaps you in the face with a large trout.
Something like this says "CRASH", possibly also "SCREEEEECH" and "RUMBLE", perhaps even "KABOOM" if there's explosive cargo.

Actually, it's normal anywhere extra maneuverability of a long load is required. Think hook and ladder fire equipment.
