After the success of the Makoto analysis it’s clear you all wanted to see more analysis videos, so today I bring you the Aigis analysis! She’s one of my personal favorite characters in the series, so I hope you enjoy this deep dive into her journey. Let me know who you’d like to see next! Doesn’t have to be strictly persona 3 either it can be other games as well.
These analysis videos are incredible, now I need to see analysis of the other characters, you could start with Yukari who is also closely related to Makoto and Aigis, then everyone else. These are excellent analysis videos, I need more.
@@frikizone2.03 I’ll definitely consider doing Yukari next she was up on my radar, especially since I feel like a lot of people misunderstand her in some ways. @@YandereGogeta Yes, many people do not understand her reaction in The Answers, but honestly it does not surprise me, there are people who, no matter how much they play Persona, only stick with the most superficial aspects of it
If you look into it. Orpheus, despite not being her initial persona belonging to someone else, is actually also a good fit for Aigis. She has a charm about her that easily captivated the SEES boys the first time they lay eyes on her in Yakushima. She also goes through a journey to the underworld (Basment of the dorm/abyss of time) to try and save the one she loves only to not suceed. I also like the subtle detail that she takes a lot of her queues from da man himself Ju-Junpei. With how some things thay she brings up during tartarus exploration and and what not it's easy to see that she really respects the guy and can be a bit envious of his carefree nature at times. This is best shown when during the trip to Kyoto when the teacher asks the boys and girls to separate, Junpei jokingly goes over to the girls side and Aigis over towards the boys, letting out a defeated "Maaaan" when they were both rebuffed.
You actually are completely right and I don't know why I didn't mention it or see it. Orpheus is a really great fit and it makes total sense for Orpheus to be her initial Persona of the wild card ability. Thank you for mentioning that I can't believe I didn't think more deeply into that. I guess I was just more so stuck on the fact that she had inherited it from Makoto, but there was grounds for a larger, deeper discussion there. I'll try to keep things like this in mind going forward with other analysis videos to make sure I don't overlook things. Also I totally agree with how you feel on Aigis and Junpei. I think it's really cute and fitting that Aigis looks up to Junpei and respects him a lot. It's a nice change of pace from how other people may seem him from first impressions. Their dynamic is subtle, but it's awesome.
I really like the platonic route they gave her. She decides that even if it's not romantic she still wants to be the closest person to Makoto and then the social link ends with them taking selfies with the rest of the 2nd year SEES members. It was hard turning down toaster waifu.
Someone in the comments told me about it and it almost makes me wish I had done the platonic route, but I don't regret my decision haha. It sounds really cute and wholesome though
"Not everything needs to be for some greater purpose... just caring about someone can be enough. That's all we need to give our lives meaning." is something that'll stick with me I know it was said in the original too, but I think that really encapsulates Aigis's growth from machine to human She was originally designed to just be a weapon, ordered to protect others and defeat Shadows, and it's through her bonds with others that she learns to really be human-- to fear, to love, to mourn, to know that we don't go through life's struggles alone
Totally agreed. That quote from Aigis is one that has stuck with me for a long time, and I even made it the description of one of my Spotify playlists haha. It encapsulates the entire point of the game for me, and also encapsulates her growth as a character as you said. She's so awesome.
Aigis is responsible for single-handedly changing my type towards non-human waifus finding meaning in life and/or asking what it means to be human. I have yet to recover since playing P3P on release and I lack to desire to do so. Best girl
I'd wanted to see someone do an analysis on her for the longest time. She's such a beautifully written character, and her growth alongside the protagonist really hammers home the game's message. To me, Aigis makes Persona 3 what it is. If the bonds we forge are what gives meaning to life, then Aigis coming to life because of the bonds she forged is the ultimate manifestation of that idea. The game's ending is beautifully tragic, as the humanity Aigis gained allowed her to comfort the person who gave her life at the moment of his death, which also acts as a passing of the torch as her journey is just beginning.
100% agreed! I don't even have anything to add really you just put it perfectly. Aigis is Persona 3's message in full force, and I love her so much because of it
Another part of Aigis being the chariot is as in its iconography it’s two horses that pulls it, representing a balance in motivation and like with all persona characters they represent partially the reverse of her arcana. She was created to be a weapon and as shadows can only be fought during dark hour and with a persona she was given two plums of dusk(fragment of Nyx body) that shapes a butterfly (papillon heart) and with it a human psyche that creates a persona. She was also given the form as a human as the chairman says that a tank thinking it’s human would lead it to psychologically breaking down, yet Aigis believe herself to be a weapon, this contradiction is the horses, it’s only when she embraces both aspects of her that she evolves. Similarly Kaz wants help his cousin to motivate him to do physical therapy by winning a big meet, but neglecting his own health will make him end up also needing that therapy which is his contradiction. Additionally as palladium takes the form of a statue of Athens friend and wears the legendary armor Aigis, but her evolved form Athena has a the great shield that encompasses her symbolizing that she wants to protect others, but that Shield is the legendary Aigis that’s now displayed front and center (Aigis was sometimes a armor, sometimes a shield and sometimes a weapon in different stories)
A thing I noticed at 11:06 is the framing of the shot showing just how far apart Aigis and Makoto are in their mentality at this point in the series. The 3 Windows visually act as boxes containing them and even within those boxes they're as far from each other as they possibly can. Add to that the middle window being empty between them, really hammering home how different their thinking is. Additionally, Aigis facing towards the right side of the screen could be interpreted as her looking forwards the future (since most of the world reads left to right), standing tall and facing it. All the while Makoto is looking backwards, sitting on the edge of the bed while contemplating if he really wants the dark hour to end. It's such a contrast to the earlier framing of the movies where Makoto tends to look towards the right side/future.
That is a very nice catch! I never really thought about interpreting the windows as being representative of themselves I always just felt it was there to have a good backdrop. It's nice when you can retroactively look at things and notice smaller details that might not have even been intended
Without a doubt, Aigis is my favorite character of the Persona franchise, I have a huge affection for her. I love the development of her. I'm looking forward to the remake of The Answer, I can't wait to see the updated epilogue... I just hope they keep the story as is, but with added cinematics or new interactions, just like they did with The Journey in Reload.
100% agreed on The Answer remake. I want to see the story just built upon. If they remove or replace things I just hope it's for the better like they did for The Journey.
Aigis is my favorite character in the entire series and my favorite character of all time her arc is so good and I can't help but love her so much and your analysis perfectly explains why I love her so much you cooked! Oh and looking forward to more of these too and loved the makoto one as well
Thank you for the support! It really makes me happy to see people enjoy these videos just as much as the Makoto one. I dropped the Yukari one in case you wanna check that one out, and there’s plenty more to come!
Thank you for the video! I love the P3 cast overall but the Moonlight Bridge Trio are my personal favourite characters so I'm really happy that you did an Aigis analysis! I think it's just so interesting how she parallels Makoto's development but in a different way, starting as a non-human and learning how to live - or rather, choosing to learn how to live. I think it's why the movie's way of focusing on Makoto and Aigis' relationship works so well to tell both of their stories, and why it's Aigis' monologue that ends the Journey. You mentioned in the Answer segment that the Wild Card ability only manifests for someone with some kind of emptiness in them, and that's something I've never really considered! But it makes a lot of sense, as to why Aigis would only get the Wild Card ability after she regresses and actively chooses to let go of the humanity she learns in the Journey. I've never experienced the Answer for myself (never played P3FES) but I hope there will be a the Answer DLC for P3R just so this story can reach more people, because the Answer really develops the P3 cast characters further, by letting them regress - especially Aigis and Yukari. I'm really enjoying your analysis series and I'm looking forward to the next one! Would you do these for non-SEES characters too? Like I said, I love the Moonlight Bridge Trio, so I'd love to see a Pharos/Ryoji analysis (since he also has a similar arc of learning about life and cherishing it). But I'd be happy to see how you break down the other SEES members too, especially Yukari (whose behaviour in the Answer is really divisive) or Junpei (who I think undergoes a really good development arc over the Journey and whose maturity shines in his attitude to the choice in the Answer).
I can definitely do these for non-SEES members and I already had plans to do so. In my Makoto analysis video I wanted to talk more about Ryoji but I couldn't do it in a way that I felt would be good for the flow of the video, so I had to leave out some details about him even though he's really interesting in his own right. That kinda thing is why I'd like to do a Ryoji analysis at some point. Basically, any major character in the game, I'd ideally like to do a video for. Thank you for your comment and support! I really liked hearing how you felt about Aigis, and I'm glad my point on the Wild Card made as much sense for you as it did for me. And it's funny you make this comment cause not too long after you did The Answer DLC got announced haha. You must have spoken it into existence.
Proud to say Aigis is my top 1 favorite character throughout the persona series because of how relatable she is. Most of my life I've been told to do this, do that without any regard because I knew it would lead me to a good life. Since I grew up in an environment where I was viewed as useless and replaceable. Then around January last year, I fell into depression because of high expectations from others and my parents due to imposter syndrome. That was the same time when i played persona 3 portable and i can say that Aigis' words where she questions' SEES intentions in defeating Nyx just resonated even if she was a robot. From that day, I knew she is a character I wanted to cherish because of how beautiful her character arc was and I wouldn't be here alive if I haven't experienced the game and empathize with the message of both The Journey and The Answer.
Thank you for sharing this comment! I'm really glad Aigis and this game could be there for you like that. I hope going forward you can live your life striving to do what you want to do instead of what people tell you to do. I'm wishing you the best!
Who doesn't love Aigis? She is ab awesome robot fighter who is created to stop bad Shadows. Except for Teddie. lol From her to learn the human ways to protect Minato by any means from her mistakes from 10 years ago with reasons...she means well of a higher and even a leader at one point, as well as aiding her long lost sister.
On the first playthrough it can feel more sad because it really seems like Aigis is going to die in that moment, and the fear in her voice is really heartbreaking.
@@YandereGogeta I like the voice acting, details like her beating heart, etc. but I really like how defeated she feels in her purpose. It’s also the first time (that I remember) that she verbally expressed emotion being scared. I feel as thought that one line is a huge part of her arc due to her not showing much emotion (if any at all) that people overlook
Very good analysis ! I watched the whole video and I really liked it. The only « negative » thing I would say is that I’m a bit sad you didn’t talk about the automatic and non skippable January 25th scene between Aigis and Makoto on the rooftop , I know you pretty much essentially covered the interesting stuffs happening in the scene in the video instead but it’s crazy to me how people always forget this scene when talking about character’s development. Basically this scene shows (like you said during the whole video) that she now does the things she wants to do because of her emotions only and not because of orders/her duty anymore and even with Death gone from Makoto’s body she still wants to be by his side showing she has now strong feelings for him instead of just monitoring the shadow she was designed to destroy. But overall very good video ! I wish you covered Arena too because I feel just like the January 25th scene, it’s an underrated aspect of Aigis, I know some people dislike her portrayal in Arena due to the fact that she sounds a bit mechanical again , but it shows the whole development of her Social link where she comes to term that she is a machine and accept herself as one (thus all the mechanisms weapons she now wears) but also understand that it doesn’t make her less human because that’s what SHE IS and Arena just shows her growth of now living a normal life and accepting it. Anyway , thank you for the analysis and I hope you’ll do a video about The Answer once it comes to Reload (because we all know it’s coming lol)
I'll be completely honest I just totally forgot to even mention the January 25th event. Had I remembered it I would've added it into the video. I had the footage recorded for it and everything, so that's totally my bad haha. Maybe I'll consider making a follow up on Arena and Ultimax as a whole and how it characterizes everyone after I get all the other analysis videos done. I think that would be a nice compromise, but what do you think? Thank you so much for your support! I'll certainly make a video about The Answer when it gets remade in Reload!
Love that I found your analysis videos recently. I don’t know if you’ll ever think to continue with these, but I’d love to see more of the persona 4 and 5 casts.
AIGIS MY BELOVED Another great analysis! Her story and development hit me personally when I first finished p3. Her understanding what it means to live was essentially a wake up call for me to change my perspective on things. The remake reinstated this at a perfect time for me once again. Have yet to go through that ending without crying haha (even during the segment in this video). I loved her relationship with Makoto, with her attaching her own personal reason to her original orders especially touching. I do like how The Answer handles her character after such a heartbreaking loss for her, and how despite it she decides she will continue to as he would’ve wanted for her to. Aigis will always be an important character for me. P.S. I caught that brief Shinjiro vid tease 👀
I can relate totally to how Aigis changed things for you. Like I said near the end during The Summary, the way Aigis grew as a character, and how she coped with loss and her new emotions really struck a cord with me personally, and that's why I tried my best to make sure she got the best treatment I could give her. I mean an hour long analysis is kind of wild, but I think I did a pretty good job. It makes me happy to hear people like yourself share similar experiences. I wonder just how many people's lives Persona 3 changed. Thank you for the support by the way! Glad you caught the small nod to the Shinji thing haha. I'm not 100% sure when I'll get to that one but it's coming eventually for sure.
Persona 3 really shaped my perspective on death and life as an adult and it really resonated with me as a teenager when I played it for the first time. I will always say it's better than P4 or P5 because it says something about society and in such a profound way. The fact that every single social link is about death or change or something of that nature is crazy.
Persona 3 definitely made me rethink death and my future. I said it in another comment but after I had beaten Persona 3 I really started to think about what I wanted to do more, and I thank it a lot for that. Persona 4 is still my personal favorite, but I love 3 so much as well it's really close.
@@YandereGogeta I played well over 999 hours of persona 3 on my PS4 so we can really say I was obsessed 😂 (it only tracks 999 hours so I'm not even sure how much I actually played)
Here's a fun fact about the final cutscene of The Journey in OG P3 (which is something i only noticed recently), Aegis looks like a human as she says her final lines to Makoto. Her hands are normal & she loses her *"headphones",* looking completely human in that shot. It's as if the story itself is showing us how human she became in the end of the story. Sadly, due to being a very subtle detail, this wasn't kept in RELOAD
Oh wow you're actually right that's an extremely small detail I had to go back and check again to see. Almost makes me wonder if it was an error it's so small haha. That's really cool though thanks for letting me know!
@@YandereGogeta No, i think it might’ve been intentional. Cause she's still human when SEES arrive, but then immediately turns back into her normal self when she looks at SEES
Great video, Aigis is definitely my favorite character in the series! The hate for The Answer has always been strange and is probably mostly compounded from the off-putting aspects of its gameplay, which Reload can hopefully address. Similarly, the way people regard Yukari has vastly changed over the years so I'm confident we won't be seeing over hating for her this time around. The reason I find the disregard for The Answer strange is because so much of the Persona 3 discourse hinges on it. Tons of memes like door-kun, but also beloved songs like Heartful Cry come from it. Having originally played FES, it's impossible for me to disassociate The Answer from the game, it's just the continuation of the game so I'm very glad it's coming to Reload. And in that sense I am a bit anxious regarding it, since I regard it very highly, but know that Atlus is aware of how people reacted to Yukari's arc originally and I don't want them to tone things down. This ended up being more of a rant on The Answer more than anything else, but having just watched your video on Yukari as well just before, this is what's on my mind. Keep up the good work !
Yeah reload and time have put Yukari into a much better limelight, and I’m really interested to see if the remake of the answer has the same effect on the view people have for it. I have faith that they’ll do good by it, but man I really hate their pricing scheme for it, but that’s a whole other story I suppose.
I've been waiting for this!! Loved your Makoto analysis and I've been looking forward to this one. I'd love to see you analyse other characters like Ryoji, for example, or even from other games like Eikichi from Persona 2 or Naoto form P4. Either way, I'll be watching!
I’ll try to get around to all of them once I can! I think Ryoji in particular would be a good one cause there were some aspects I really couldn’t touch up on regarding him and Makoto’s relationship in the Makoto analysis because of how that video was structured. Would’ve taken too much time and messed with the pacing of Makoto’s story. Thank you so much for your support it means a lot!
I was hoping you would do a Ryoji analysis because of that. He's so interesting and deserved so much better than what he got. No problem!!@@YandereGogeta
The very thing about Aigis which stuck with me is that when she met Makoto for the first time on the beach her initial response is to Naruto run into the forest. That manifested deep into my mind.
As someone who leans more to the P4 side of things, Aigis is my favorite party member in any Persona and is one of my favorite video game characters period.
Another fantastic video I know that Yukari is the intended love interest but I truly believe that there is no love stronger than what Aigis has for Makoto and her character development was nothing short of amazing she’s one of the main reasons to me that the ending of persona 3 hits so hard
I think Yukari or Aigis are definitely the best fitting options for Makoto. Totally agreed on her character development though god it’s so good, and her voice actress(es) did a great job bringing her to life
Aigis: Android designed to terminate shadow and can summon Persona. Then able to learn to become humane after maxing her social link Morgana: A creature made of a bundle of humanity's hope by Igor before he is defeated by Yaldaboth and able to use Persona from the start just like Aigis. And then there's Teddie: A shadow who wants to befriend humans and unconsciously forms himself into a friendly cartoon bear. Has no Persona at first, but after confronting his own shadow (confusing, right?) gains his own Persona and a human form so he can spend his time with his friends in the real world. Morgana is definitely jealous. A mere shadow was able to gain is human form on his own. A bundle of hope can't even do that. Koromaru? Dogs are the same as humans. They have feelings, minds, and personalities. They just different species.
I dislike The Answer in terms of gameplay but I adore its story. Man it really hits hards as people are griefing in different ways. Sad that it draw much hate from the fandom for "Character assassination."
@@YandereGogeta or a video talking on sees being more fatalist and fighting to the death vs investigation team saving their foe. I liked the part of arena when mitsuru and akihiko appreciate that about the p4 kids.
I really wish they added more to Aigis's new Reload costume other than the updated armband. Maybe give her something like the vest that she has in The Answer. Heck best boi Koromaru got a cool ballistic vest with a cute medic pack on his back.
Totally agreed. That's why throughout most of the footage in this video I have Aigis in some sort of outfit different from her normal S.E.E.S. uniform.
36:13 in my playthrough of P3 Reload I didn't romance her so her Rank 10 Social Link is instead asking us to take a photo together with a camera and then saying although she could just capture the moment with her eye's built in recording it doesn't hold the same feeling as capturing the moment together and then the other members comes back to the dorm and joins in on the photo session instead of her room your at the 1st floor lounge for Friendship route Rank 10
The friendship routes are really really good. I haven’t seen all of them yet but from your comment and what I have seen from my friends playing, they clearly had a lot of thought and effort put into them.
I read it and I didn't see anything that would actually change the fact that he dies at some point later on. He's still withering away after the fight against Nyx, and by the time March 5th comes he's barely able to function. In the last panel, sure he's standing to look at everyone running for the rooftop, but I don't think that's indicative of him surviving exactly. He may survive a bit longer but in my eyes, in his condition, he's definitely still going to pass away at some point, and I think that's kind of what's being foreshadowed. Anyway that's just kinda how I viewed it. Regardless, the manga isn't the main canon timeline, so it isn't too big of a deal. I think the ending of the manga was more so meant to be ambiguous on purpose.
From what I heard Aigis knew Makoto was dying hence why she didn't want to leave him at the moment. We all deserve a girl like Aigis there for you until the end. Why does it look like Aigis's velvet room elevator is rising faster than Makoto's? It's probably nothing with no meaning at all.
Whether she knew or not the impact hits all the same, but it is tragic to think about, and you’re totally right everyone deserves someone like Aigis in their life. As for her elevator, if there was an actual meaning to it, it could be representing the little amount of time they had before the abyss of time was gonna cause everything to go haywire.
@@YandereGogeta Yes, they removed the holdhanding scene on the bridge and also the hug in the social link... But the files are still in the game and someone has restored them.
What an excellent video! I know you did a great job because you got me to seriously consider a character that up to this point I have not been a huge fan of. Personally, I’ve seen a few too many of these “robot learns to be like a human” stories for my liking, and it, and so as soon as the character was introduced I kinda anticipated where she was going. However, in particular you got me to notice some details from The Answer that totally went over my head, and for that I appreciate all your effort in putting this together. I’m also an apologist for The Answer so I feel some kinship there. We’ve gotta stick together, right? Again, great job, and I feel I have a better appreciation for Aigis now.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm really happy I was able to give you some more appreciation for her as a character. She's really great and definitely one of my personal favorite characters in the series. Also nice to see you enjoy The Answer as well it gets super overhated in the story department.
Akinari I think is probably the best social link in the entire series. The way it ties in with the theme of the game, the storyline Akinari went through, and the conclusion were just perfect. Really don’t think it can get much better than that.
I wish I could say that I completed the Answer, but I didn’t. It wasn’t the story that was throwing me off; I pretty much expected everyone to regress when the team anchor passed away. IT WAS THE TRASHY GAMEPLAY!!!! My patience just died out and I couldn’t bring myself to keep going. Hopefully it’s a little better in the remake.
Yeah the gameplay of the answer was very very bad and is mostly the reason why people didn't finish it or enjoy it. I have high expectations for the remake
I made a spoiler free review of Tactica, but are you saying you would like me to do an analysis on Tactica? I've been interested in the idea, so maybe I could give it a shot.
My question is how can a robot be written to be so human… it’s off putting yet something about Aigis is just… protect… Can’t wait to see her hit the griddy in Fortnite soon
It is crazy how Aigis is one of the most human characters haha. We must protect her at all costs. Seeing Aigis in fortnite might be one of the greatest moments of my entire life.

Additionally as palladium takes the form of a statue of Athens friend and wears the legendary armor Aigis, but her evolved form Athena has a the great shield that encompasses her symbolizing that she wants to protect others, but that Shield is the legendary Aigis that’s now displayed front and center
(Aigis was sometimes a armor, sometimes a shield and sometimes a weapon in different stories)
You bring up a bunch of great points I missed out on during the analysis. Thank you for this comment it was really insightful!

Thank you for the support! It really makes me happy to see people enjoy these videos just as much as the Makoto one. I dropped the Yukari one in case you wanna check that one out, and there’s plenty more to come!
ahahaha at 43:16 good God the disdain of your voice! Same here, The Answer story is indeed top notch EXCEPT the gameplay!!!
Haha I couldn't hold back how I feel about that gameplay

Same here! It’s such an amazing game.
aigis best girl cause of this
YOU CAN FIGHT ME YOU KNOW IM RIGHT
Haha no disagreements here
I’m late but am I the only one who found this moment (23:15) really sad? Like more sad than the 10/4 incident?

Another great analysis!
Please do more analysis like this! Really enjoyed it!
Thank you so much! I've got a lot more planned!

Reload cemented her even more so as my favorite character more than Joker, Futaba, Narukami, Maya, Chihiro, Junpei, or even Tatsuya I love her so much
She's certainly one of the best. Fantastic character
51:18 Reload omitted this line, and it hurts me.
The very thing about Aigis which stuck with me is that when she met Makoto for the first time on the beach her initial response is to Naruto run into the forest. That manifested deep into my mind.
That little run she did was so cute haha
As someone who leans more to the P4 side of things, Aigis is my favorite party member in any Persona and is one of my favorite video game characters period.
100% agreed. Persona 4 is my personal favorite as well, but Aigis is such a great character.
Then able to learn to become humane after maxing her social link
Morgana: A creature made of a bundle of humanity's hope by Igor before he is defeated by Yaldaboth and able to use Persona from the start just like Aigis.

Fun fact makoto in the manga lives
I LOVE CLANKERS!!! AIGIS 🆙
Besides the PTSD she gave me in ultimax I love her too.

Aigis is my fave social link in all of persona, Akinari is a probably top 5 for me as well. What do you think of Akinari’s social link?
Akinari I think is probably the best social link in the entire series. The way it ties in with the theme of the game, the storyline Akinari went through, and the conclusion were just perfect. Really don’t think it can get much better than that.
I wish I could say that I completed the Answer, but I didn’t. It wasn’t the story that was throwing me off; I pretty much expected everyone to regress when the team anchor passed away. IT WAS THE TRASHY GAMEPLAY!!!! My patience just died out and I couldn’t bring myself to keep going. Hopefully it’s a little better in the remake.
